  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 22, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) The only pitcher in all of baseball (50 wins or more) projected for more wins by 40 is Pedro Martinez. Sabathia was projected for 298.
  2. Damn, thats going to be one heck of a task. I will say this if anyone could do it, I'd probably go with Buehrle/Dontrell of the younger group of pitchers. I'd of said Prior or Zambrano and included them but they suffer from the Dusty Baker factor.
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ May 22, 2005 -> 06:30 AM) I'm one of the biggest Thomas fans in the world but I can't argue with his general premise. The LAA are leading their division & have spent a fortune to do so. Vladdy just got hurt. It's a team who is desperate for a hitter like Thomas with good talent to trade. I'm not saying do it, but you would be a fool not to see what they are offering. I'd trade for Dallas McPherson.
  4. ATO: Honel Back, News on The Big Hurt, Gload, And More By Jason Gage May 22, 2005 FutureSox.com RHP Kris Honel was activated from the disabled list on Saturday and made his return with the Barons in the top of the 14th. The former 1st round draft pick pitched a scoreless 14th but would get tattooed in the 15th inning giving up 3 runs on 4 hits while walking one. Honel picked up the loss...MORE
  5. Now it seems like AA is the place to get promoted from in most instances. Realistically AAA is only for those talented prospects that are being blocked by a quality major leaguer who plays the same position. And for mid-level prospects to show enough to get promoted or gain additional seasoning because while they have the talent they lack some of the necessary skills to have success at the major league level (strike zone judgement, a shorter swing, etc). Its also a way for to ease the transition.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Yep. Almost captures what I was feeling when I saw that ball pop off of Patterson's mit... I had my sister starring and laughing at me. I was swearing f***ity f*** f*** cause I thought Patterson had it and than when the ball fell out of the mitt I started screaming and going nuts. She gets more laughs from me during the baseball season than any other time of the year That and I tend to talk to myself during a Sox game
  7. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Was it Mike Caruso that we brought up from high A? I thought I remembered someone somewhat recently coming up from high A. Ya
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) yeah that texas game could be rough.... especially with all that humidity down there... my friend said its like 100 degrees down there..... :banghead Can't be all that much worse than the Carolina's during the summer.
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 21, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) Who's seen him twice already, and hit him hard the second time. He wasn't 100% in that start though (if its any consolation, LOL). But I'm not too concerned. If Brandon has command of his stuff, he'll be successful.
  10. Not sure...I know for MLB Xtra Innings it ends up getting more expensive after the season starts. I'm assuming they will have a different price at the all star break. Not sure what they do with mlb.tv though.
  11. I'll say this, Collaro is making a believer out of me. But Amador would have to rake for a lot longer before I bought into him. Its just so unlike him. Collaro can flat rake though. If we were to do the top 25 today, I assure you he'd be one of the newcomers.
  12. For those who have mlb.tv the game is now available to watch on mlb.tv
  13. The National blackout may apply but I just got the game on mlb.tv . This and the Yanks game are available to watch for some reason now.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) I have the same problem, just switch Schilling with Schmidt, Percival, and Lyon. I got Percy too. For a while I had like 5 or 6 guys on the DL. Luckily my team is still good
  15. My dad said he was listening to the radio this AM and they said the Angels feared it may be as long as 2-3 months but they still needed further tests. I'm assuming since they said partial dislocation, that he'll be out more like 2-3 weeks. Regardless, I now have Vladdy, Sheets, and Schilling on the DL after finally getting Berkman back
  16. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 20, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Good job Jason with all your work in FutureSox. I 'd like to publicly thank you for the Sox/Angels tix for Monday. If I manage to go to another game during the series I'll tell u which one so I can shake your hand and thank u in person. Best Regards Ron Thanks Ron. On a sidenote, I'll be at the rest of them for sure. Hopefully for the first time in what seems like forever the Sox can at least split a series in Anaheim (I'm not greedy).
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Did you ever think that they may not want to mess with Garland's mojo by starting him a day early? Technically it woudln't be a day early. He will be pitching on Monday with an extra days rest. I don't think thtas a problem though because over the course of the season you like being able to give a guy an extra day every once in a while.
  18. New question, anyone know how to get around a national blackout, LOL.
  19. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) Going by what I read in the thread, it was the Score who said Saturday. Either way it's pressure. Todya is national tv, tomorrow is still in wrigley against "the messiah". I personally would start Garland on Sunday on 4 days rest (normal for most) and then have B-Mac face Anaheim on Monday night in a more relaxed atmosphere. But then again I wasn't responsible for the 5th starter carousel so I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up I think the issue with that is Brandon would be pitching on about 7 days rest (3 more than usual) and it could have a negative effect on him. If he goes on Sunday at least its 1 less day. The Sox think the world of Brandon and because of that they are going to give him that shot. He's so mentally tough that if he can do semi decent in this start against the Cubs, he will be able to take a lot of that and pitch in mostly lesser pressure games for the rest of the regular season. If Brandon pitches like I feel he can, he won't be moving down to the minors again this year (especially if Duque is going to miss 5 or 6 starts as opposed to 1 or 2). Brandon is ready for the show.
  20. Oh man I just realized its a national blackout so you can get the games anywhere. Good thing for SNR
