  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Just got it in; I think it's been released via internet already (some of the articles), but they have the Sox taking Cesar Carrillo. They also have them looking strongly at Bogusevic, a local kid (Oak Lawn) -- who's at Tulane now, Jason, isn't that the kid you like? Townsend is also a possibility, but BA has him going to the D-Rays (that'd be cool for them, getting two out of Rice's Big Three from last year). Anyways, what do you guys think about Carrillo? He looks like he has some nice control, 17 BBs in 99 IP, but he's not listed in any of the BEST categories (Best Breaking Ball, Best Command, Best Fastball). FWIW, they have that Ramos kid from Long Beach with the best command (Torra behind him -- dasox, you want the Sox to grab him, right?). Best Breaking Ball goes to the reliever, Hansen, with Townsend, Hochevar, and Torra also on the list. Torra also made the list (5th) for the best fastball. I didn't put any of the high schoolers down, 'cause I think it's unlikely the Sox grab a high schooler. If I see something else interesting, I'll post it. I like Ramos a lot. Problem is if the Sox picked him they would be reaching according to the projections I've seen. Its too bad they didn't have a supplemental cause he'd be perfect there. Bogusevic is a really good southpaw as is Ricky Romero. Personally I think Bogusevic has a better build in terms of a major league pitcher and yes I do have a negative bias on Romero simply because he's so small and his delivery is more violent than I'd like (That and he throws so many damn breaking pitches...all that said he's got an insane amount of heart and has improved so much since coming to Fullerton). As far as Cesar. The guy lost his first game ever in NCAA at one point this year (or at least I thought it was his first lost ever). The guy doesn't have amazing stuff, but he does everything well. Throws 3 good pitches (fastball, curve, change). Don't know if he has a slider, only saw him pitch in part of a game on TV. Good command and knowhow. Isn't very projectable in terms of adding velocity, etc.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Well the angels have told borass that 6 million no more and boras originally wanted 12 million for Weaver.... now angles still saying 6 million and boras has lowered it all the way down to 6.75 supposedly but angels refusing to spend the extra 750,000... I think we on the otherhand would of got it done. I don't think so. Not a chance the Sox would of paid 6 million for Weaver.
  3. I don't say this much and I don't wish him injuries, but he's an ass. I've heard way too many things about Jon and there is no chance I'll ever cheer for or root for the prick.

  5. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20050527/...ovoteforclinton -29% very likely to vote for Hillary -24% somewhat likely -39% not at all likely strong support up 8 points opposition support dropped 5 points ROFL
  6. QUOTE(skidoochic @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) I agree with you on the contact play in that situation, but Pods was safe. You mean Guchi Agree on the contact situation. One of them was tough luck (I think it was the one where Rowand got in the rundown) because AJ hit it right back to the pitcher.
  7. Cleveland is a pretty cool place to go and watch games. The stadium is awesome and the city isn't too bad. They revamped the waterfront area there which is nice. Oh ya and Cedar Point is really quite fun. Definately recommend hitting that up if your driving that way.
  8. I'm not too concerned with this. I feel its stupid taking a Boras client unless your willing to take the chance of not having that pick sign. Considering the Sox don't havea another pick till 97th overall there is no way I want to see them take someone at 15th thats a Boras client and have him hold out the rest of the year (hell you know its bad when the Angels who spent huge bucks on the draft won't come to terms with Weaver) and than end up having just a 97th pick an on in the draft (really puts your team in a crunch). However, that being said they could look at Wade Townsend who appears to have a decdent shot of being there. Whoever suggested Bogulsvic in one of them (Tulane's ace pitcher) I'd freaking love it if we got him, but with Boras having control of most of the top college pitching prospects, odds are guys like Bogul and Romero will end up going higher.
  9. Ya its down...Hopefully in 48-72 hrs it will be back up. On a sidenote, did you enjoy the seats on Monday?
  10. What in the hell. What does a few of the opponents pitchers getting ejected have to do with Thomas hitting a homer. Did they somehow intend to eject him before he threw the pitch and than when Thomas hit it they were like, no that doesn't count, the pitcher should of already been ejected?? LOL This is definately something I want to hear about. My email is down but I'm gonna ask as soon as I get a shot.

Thats horrible. Stuff like that can and will definately have a huge effect on you. Its always a million times worse when it comse out of nowhere cause you never have the opportunity to say goodbye or even prepare for the loss of a friend/loved one. Wish Josh the best cause that is rough, very rough.

They are flexible on that age policy as long as you try and negotiate with them. Hell, if you rent from a slower location they'll waive the underage insurance a lot of times.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) Actually, there was strong interest in the Clemens camp. Shueler nixed it because he thought Clemens was done. Clemens went on to Toronto on the cheap and the rest is history. Ya, you know damn well he'd of chosen Chicago over Toronto.
  14. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 26, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Had a conversation with a friend he thinks Ron Schueler is a way better GM than KW. Where I think Kenny is the better of the two... Who do you all think Not even close...Kenny. Schueler didn't have the guts to build a winner. Kenny has had some moves that didn't pay off, but he has the stones to make the big time moves that may put the club in line to win it all. A GM needs that. Hell there aren't many moves that he made that I wouldn't of made at the time. I'm not going to second guess, dont' believe in it. If your for a move at a time than I don't think your entitled to bash a guy for it. Now if you look at things, you'd like to take back two deals...the Kip Wells fiasco (I hated giving up Wells...always will, although last year he wasn't all that grand). That was one I hated from day one, but at least it doesn't look like Kip will win a cy young. Then there was the Billy Koch deal but considering Jerry Manuel had shown signs of giving up on Foulke and you had Keith whining about wanting to give starting a shot, it seemed like a good move, plus the Sox were getting a good kid in Cotts and they'd have control of Koch a little longer. The Koch move made total sense to me (boy was I wrong, lol).
  15. Looks like it will be a few days. This is really ticking me off. I'm hoping to get a response back by tomorrow and than move it from there. As long as I can get it renewed (which I should assuming I can finally get a hold of the right people...they just give me the run around and its easy to do considering they are way the hell over in England) than it should just be a 24/48 thing...the key is getting to that point.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 27, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Somebody's got to take the blame. The offense. It was there fault. Ozzie made the right call and come on, no matter what he told him he didn't tell him to hang a pitcher. As far as McPherson, he struck out a lot in the series but I must say he was probably the best hitting Angel of the series. He hit the ball hard in a couple at bats the day before and than again today. He seems to be on the verge of finding it.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 26, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Funny thing is iguchi was under the damn tag. They showed the replay from a few different angles and he looked safe every time. Boo to the umps. He was safe. Pods was safe too. They blew two calls that night. I had such a good angle on the play at the plate and there was zero doubt in my mind (well as best as possible). The tag came in high and Guchi had his hand on the back part of the plate. It was an awful call, but that fantom Pods throwout was even worse.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 26, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Yeah I don't like second guessing, and like Jack, I would have been mad if he pulled El Conde right there... But after Ozzie walked I said becareful this guy'll swing at anything... Don't throw him first pitch fastball (which I almost always want Conde to throw)... The blame for the loss doesn't fall on Contreras... We simply have to score more than 2 f***ing runs.. 2nd &3rd and no outs should be 1.5 runs. It was Contreras game to lose. He's been nothing but a tough luck pitcher and it continued today because he threw awesome. He pitched nearly as good as Buerhle did and better than Freddy did. He was just cruising making guys look nasty. There were three really hard hit balls the entire night, Cabrerra's double, that homer and Molina hit one pretty deep into center that was caught. Sox lost this one because they failed to execute with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. In fact they failed like 3 times in those situations. Still it was a great game and this is the funnest time I've had at a basball series in a long time. It was just a well played series all around for the most part.
  19. I'll do it when I get back. I just finished sending emails all over the place (no one has freaking phone numbers on the net). How some company in Europe is in charge of the domain I'll never know. Don't worry about Soxtalk...its fully in my control and won't be expiring till 2009 Now Its just getting FS back online.
  20. FutureSox will be down for a few days or so it looks. f***ing registar never extended my domain name so now I'm jumping through hoops trying to get it activated. Pain in the freaking ass. I extended it by like 3 or 4 years last year, but it never went through cause the domain was locked and the old email addie it was under got deactivated or something.
  21. Welcome back Josh. Seems like its been a while since I last saw ya. Hope all is well And Maury...post has been pinned
  22. The White Sox will go for the series win (probably there first since 1994 or 1995 in Anaheim) on Thurdsay night. Jose Contreras (2-1, 3.23 ERA) vs John Lackey (4-2, 4.05 ERA). Lackey has long been a White Sox killer. Go Get em Chicago
  23. I agree with Ozzie. If its August or September, thats another story...go with Brandon. But right now he should be starting and if Duque is back than Brandon should be AAA. I don't want him in the pen where he won't be stretched out enough if and when Duque goes back down again. Hopefully Brandon can have another good start against Texas, than head back down to the minors with a few more things for him to work on (that he learned from this stint in the majors). Even if he gets sent back down, we know he'll be back up again.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) I wouldn't, I hold both my nuts sacred. I woudln't either...knowing my luck I'd get a Dodgers world series ring in trade for it
