July 14, 200520 yr Byrnes is the most overrated fielder in the game. Even more overrated than Jeter. He gets painfully bad jumps, often breaking the wrong direction, but makes up for it with a diving stop that will somehow be #1 on Web Gems. A good fielder would never have to dive for the balls that Byrnes makes spectacular plays on.

I don't have MLB extra innings or anything like that so I only watch him against the sox.

Who do they have in the wings? Paul McAnulty- 7th overall prospect good power hitter, hits for AVG as well and solid with the glove as well. Won the SL homerun Derby today as well.
July 14, 200520 yr Boston outfielder Jay Payton has been traded to the Oakland A's for reliever Chad Bradford. ESPN's Peter Gammons is now saying that Payton may be on his way to the Yankees, so we'll have to see. Payton was not happy with being a backup in Boston and was designated for assignment last Thursday. He hit .263 with five homers and 21 RBIs in 55 games for Boston. Jul. 13 - 6:27 pm et
July 14, 200520 yr It certainly makes sense for teams like Oak. and Col. to spin off guys like Byrnes, Payton, Kennedy, Witasik etc for younger, better talent to possible playoff teams willing to overpay
