Sox @ A's 4-27-05
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) When is Hermanson coming back? He's been day to day for about 5 days now. Its almost to the point where in the next couple days if he isn't ready, you go to the DL retroactive and at least use one of the AAA guys as an extra arm for a couple days. Dye flies out to Kotsay. Crede is gonna give the Sox the lead this inning.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) You see, I disagree about Dye...we KNOW Dye is good, he's just trying to overdo it right now. I don't know what his issues are right now, but we need Dye. I'm going to look at yesterdays game where he made a lot of strides. The problem with this entire f***ing offense is they are trying to pull everything in the world.

On a sidenote, I'm guessing it will be Neal or Polite next because Marte has to be gassed.

I'd freaking drop a bunt, LOL. Widger would s*** his pants and the A's would have the lead.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
Please Marte...throw strikes.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Come on Dye, you have to be able to throw him out there. Byrnes wasn't even at 2nd base by the time Dye got it. Dye didn't get himself set behind the throw. What are you talking about, Dye made a good throw.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) I did check the splits and you are right about his numbers being even with runners on and off but I'm goign to go with what I've seen over stats in this case. Thats simply this season and obviously he isn't dominating thus far, minus his homers. When Paulie is on, he's driving the ball to right field. f***, aside from Crede I haven't seen any of the Sox right handed hitters even using right field. Its disgusting. This team is in the most awful fundemental funk I've ever seen. They are having a hell of a time picking up pitches and on top of it are being way to greedy at the plate trying to pull everything. If you notice the only times Rowand has done much anything, he has been going opposite field, but thus far its been not near enough. As far as Dye goes, Ozzie better get the memo and move Crede into Rowands spot, Rowand up into Dye's spot and Dye down into the 8/9 spot. I'd give Dye friday off too and then let Dye get back on Saturday. Wow Byrnes got lucky there, Dye had a nice throw but it hit Byrnes.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Paulie has been like this all season in critical spots. Some guys are better off with the bases empty or a non-close game. Don't know why but a lot of big name players who put up nice stats are like that. Although in most years Paulie is as good as it gets with runners on. He's never selfish and always willing to do the little things. I know Hawk said he changed his stance a bit yesterday, moving his hands a bit outside. Cotts is getting up in the pen. I'd guess Marte is a little tired, he's been used quite a bit lately. A's are going to try and put some pressure on Widger here. Come on Marte, lets get out of this one unscaved.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) we had our chance right there ITs just yet another time they have had a shot. Of coruse to be honest, this was the worse shot of all of them. The double plays have killed this team. That and they are not going in motion to get out of them. Its obvious the offense is stalling so you got to force the issue a bit. Nice job by Carl to do it. He'd of been gunned on a good throw but job was done. You put the pressure on Kendall to make a good throw and more times than not Kendall won't come through.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) I think I read they're 3-17 there in recent years. Yikes. They have to be near as bad in Anaheim. Its not too often I've seen them win (maybe once a year) and I pretty much see every game when they are in town.

Willie is the s***znit. He's looking so much better offensively its not even funny. I just want Uribe back healthy because the Sox can't do without him at SS. Willie can semi replace Guchi. 2 hits for Willie today. Of course I hope to see Willie get more agressive. On a sidenote, was I the only one laughing when Hawk and Dj were talking about Willie stealing a base and Hawk goes how is he going to steal off a lefty when he can't steal off a righty?

Thats it..Sox are going to score this inning. Its going to start with the Podmeister getting on board. Top of the order and the Sox will take the lead....like Mens Warehouse...I Guarantee It

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Pods needs to get it going again though. I'd like to see him start swinging a little harder than he has been, and try to pull it down the line. He's done a great job at drawing walks though. Thing is I can't complain. He's been for the most part getting on base.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
This is also the type of game where if the Sox pull it out, they get a travel day and a day off and could get their s*** back together. I'd say this is a semi big game to win because the odds are definately against them thus far tonight. It just pisses me off how they have mis-executed.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
The Sox are playing ugly baseball. Case closed, the defense has went totally in the s***ter. Freddy made the mistake today, yesterdays game, the game against the Royals. On the nice side, Freddy got a popup so there are 2 outs with Erubiel on 3rd.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) I know this is negative, but I'm not going to hide how I feel. The Sox have way too many easy outs. With Konerko basically being an all or nothing hitter now, only Everett is a true line drive hitter. I'm still waiting to see guys like Rowand and Dye hit the ball with authority to the opposite field. Crede, Pods, Everett, and Willie are the only guys I have faith in offensively in this current lineup. Guchi is another guy, aside from that the rest are playing like total s*** offensively. Widge has been solid too, but no, I don't get excited about him.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
Wow, Sox were lucky to get this out. Freddy had a shot at 2nd but bobbled the ball and someone recovered to throw the bunter out at 1st. On a sidenote, is Oakland freaking stupid. I'd be bunting all day long on Widger just to see if the guy can field and make the throw on the run (something catchers don't have to do).

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
Dye did a nice job defensively playing the wall perfectly and holding Durazo to a single. The Ball was absolutely clobbered.

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Shockingly, this game has pissed me off more than last night's game. DP's and mix-execution yes, but the A's have played good and Freddy has pitched good. Plus considering all the injuries I'm happy just to be in it (even though the Sox should be leading).

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
God this lineup is futile. Walker needs to f***ing hit these guys with breaks. I've never seen a team chase so many breaking pitches. Not gonna knock Crede cause that was a really tough situation after being out of the box for a while and he's actually been playing good. I've seen the Sox chase more 2-0 pitches than I need to and they chase everything with 2 strikes, often times during full counts too. Main point is, when they find themselves in the catbird seat, they aren't waiting for their pitch, they are just trying to force the issue and its hurting them big time.

Sox rated worst franshise to root for
Hell I think he's right. Its tough being a Sox fan. It seems the Sox never really suck, but at the same time they are never good enough to get to the series, etc and on top of things they got knocked really hard in the media. I'd agree with most of his writing, although he's got one thing wrong, the Sox aren't going to fall off the face of the earth this year. This team will battle.
