  1. Wow...you post with such grace for the ripe old age of 7 So you got a rousing game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey all lined up???
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Those remarks blaming Crede for that play were some of the most ridiculous statements from so called knowledgable baseball fans that I've ever seen. I tend to agree with you. I understand people being frustrated with him, but christ, the guy flat out plays hard and did all he could defensively trying not to give up on the ball. It was quite obvious by the way he was trying to keep the ball in front of him that he had no clue Uribe even had a shot at the play. Crede did it as fundemantal as possible (although he did lose his balance) and even had a double in the game and hit the ball hard earlier in the series. If you want to be frustrated with Joe, fine, he obviously hasn't developed into the player many thought he would of (at least not yet) but for cripes sake its amazing how this year he's all of a sudden a turd defensively. A guy thats talked about in the upper echelon defensively after just 1 full season. 6 games don't make a season...case closed. If a month from now he's hitting in the low .200's its time to make a change, but give him that. This is a guy that absolutely raked the ball in the minors and has had periods at the major league level where he's destroyed the ball. Do people need ot take a look at what Beltre did in LA up until last year to realize sometimes you shouldn't give up on a guy? I don't even know why I'm talking about something like this 6 games into the season though. Crede made adjustments to his swing, he started to break out late in spring, and has struggled early in the season, but he deserves at least a shot to get through them and Ozzie needs to stick with him now because frankly Crede isn't going to be what costs the Sox the playoffs, at least not a month of Crede (even if he was playing awful offensively). And frankly I'm not willing to say Ozuna is better than Crede nor am I willing to even mention Fields name until late this year (even then I wouldn't be very excited) so it would mean Kenny would have to shop. Before giving up valuable prospects (that could go into other areas) I'd like to think the Sox truly gave enough time to evaluate the adjustments Joe made. Plus, not many teams are willing to deal a quality 3rd baseman this early in the year so the pickings would be slim.
  3. But Mitch Wylie was released. He was slated to be on the Charlotte Knights. Spidale, Diaz, Giambi and Person are all guys that are likely to find there way on Charlottes roster in the next week or two. Bham doesn't have any room so its going to be awfully interesting to see what goes down the next two weeks because I anticipate a few cuts will be made. Obviously the Knights have some vets they could unload or the Sox could deal some AAA guys for A ball players (I know Kanny could use some help in certain areas, although I've yet to really look hard at all the rosters, will be doing that after my midterm tomorrow when I start the season preview articles...even though the seasons started).

    Sex in a Car

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) I have a friend ( a woman) who once drove a MASSIVE conversion van. THis thing was HUGE, but she loved it. It was lovingly reffered to as "The Shaggin Wagon" in high school. To the best of my knowledge, sex was never conducted in that van. However it apperently saw other things that former President Clinton does not consider sex or adultry. We called my buddies truck the shaggin waggin, but it was nicknamed that from Dumb and Dumber....to his shagrin no shaggin went on back there, lol.
  6. Twinks don't suck, but may the Sox be better than them (record wise) this year. Personally I got a lot of respect for the way they play the game. They play a "fun" style of baseball and so far the Sox seem to be playing more like that this year and at the sam time they got some more run producers than the twins and to me a better rotation. Bullpens rank out evenly to me, maybe even a nod up to the Twins. I love the Sox pen too. EIther way, may this be one hell of a year
  7. Cubs suck...because of Ronnie WOO WOO
  8. I'd say the Muts signing Kris Benson to the deal they did was just as dumb of a move. Same with the Dodgers giving JD Drew big bucks instead of Adrian Beltre. Piss poor.
  9. Knight, that was the whole point of this board. Were hopoing Mariotti can come by and share some of his insight with all of us.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) I believe he said, " Because he doesn't play for Boston or New York, "when asked why Buehrle is relatively unknown outside Chicago. Ozzie is difficult to understand, so I may be wrong. Thats how heard it. He said that because he plays for the White Sox and not New York or Boston. He didn't ever say "your" or at least I didn't hear that, but with Oz you never know. Basically he's right though and it isn't even ESPN's fault. I mean ESPN talked up Sheets a ton last year and hell, most generic baseball fans wouldn't know that much about him either.
  11. Rowand hasn't looked good all year (he looked great in spring though). Once he gets going then I think you'll see Ozzie put him higher in the lineup against lefties.
  12. Personally I don't think Munoz will make it as a starter, but I still think Munoz belongs there. If you take away his one start in Chicago, the guy would still rank quite highly in most prospect lists. The guy was absolutely amazing in Birmingham last year, pitched well out of the pen in Chicago and had a little blip in the radar. Personally I'm pissed at how the whole 5th starter situation was handled last year. On a sidenote, I also think the Sox did a disservice to Munoz by telling him not to throw his curveball as much and they had him stressing the slider. Munoz still has a shot to be a good reliever, top 10, I don't know, but I think its one of those things where if you look aside at the beating he took against Montreal, that he still deserves to be rated pretty highly. I've long said the guy that kills me to see on that list is Kris Honel. Personally I don't think he should make any prospect list until he proves he can pitch again. On the whole though, everytime I look at the list the better of a job I think it really was. I mean I look at BA's top 30 and there are a lot of disagreements. I think as a whole we did an accurate job, but I'm sure thats up for debate. Its really tough, especially when different people have different guys they really like. Still total blast and to me best way to learn more is just to see how a bevy of people feel about different guys.
  13. I agree it was quite classy. To be honest I hate a lot of the Twins players, but at the same time, they have a ton of guys (most of them the ones I hate) that I'd absolutely love to have on the Sox. It really is a great rivalry and I can definately say its a fun one for me to watch. To be a Twins-Sox game is as good as it gets in terms of regular season baseball.
  14. Problem is Aaron and Pyrz are better hitters than Timo so why have Timo in front of him. In the case of Santana I'd of had Guchi leading off with Aaron in the 2 hole. Aaron tends to hit lefties well and Guchi would of been there. Then have Zuna in the 9 spot or so. But I can see semblance for the first two weeks or so keeping the lineup straight so the regulars can adjust, after that, get used to it because I'd always want the best lineup possible out there.
  15. QUOTE(valponick @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) I understand where you're coming from but it's not like I'm pointing the finger after 1 game, its been several years with this guy, I'm just fed up. We need to quit talking about his potential and quit trying to convince ourselves that this is his year and just move on. I'm sick of it, it is a waste of our time, as a team...as a franchise. G'night all, time for bed, work in the morning. All I'm saying is Crede slips on a play and people are ready to crucify him. Crucify him all you want for his offense, but by seasons end he will be as usual, one of the best defensive 3rd basemans in the league and will save a lot more runs than he gives up on errors. Its been 6 games and people are ready to put a cast on him. Hell, where is all the talk about Uribe. The guy is in a funk himself and his throws are going all over the place. Fact of the matters is, 6 games don't make a season. Sox have won the 1st two series against divisional foes, have pitched good, have shown some small ball and have also hit the long ball. They got a lot of growing and maturing to do and with all these new players you still have more of a feeling out process, but its going to be alright. Crede is going to be alright and even if he isn't, no one is going to know that 6 games into the year.
  16. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Why should I be happy knowing that next time Dye gets a break that Timo is going to be hitting 5th? Aaron and AJ should be bumped up. If he wants to break up the righties, put AJ above Aaron.
  17. Thats the thing. No asterik should ever be given for a player that was on them prior to this season when they really in fact became illegal in baseball. Whose to say a player couldn't of trained in some latin country where roids are legal and then came over to the states and been off them during the season.
  18. That ump gave the two relievers even more room. I saw 3 k's in the last inning and a half...all looking on pitches way off the plate. It was total horses***. Then at the same time I saw Mark getting the squeeze. Regardless, the Sox had a shot at this game, a game against the Cy Young Award winner. Really no complaints out of me. I think they could of won, but its not a bad loss at all.
  19. Hard to say simply because I'm not the biggest Mike Morse fan. He'd probably rate ahead of the 3 headed monster (Lopez, Gonzo, Valido) but I'm not much of a fan of Morse to be honest. He's just got a funky swing and I don't think it will work. Plus I don't really think of him lasting at SS. Of course he's better offensively than any of the 3 or at least he was last season. I'd have him probably at #9 which is where Lopez is now with Pedro taking a slide.
  20. QUOTE(valponick @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) You've obviously never played competitive baseball, because that is completely wrong. No its not. A pitcher its a little differnet, but with a 3rd baseman or 1st baseman or middle infielder its the exact 180 of how it is for a pitcher. Your job is do all you can to keep it in the infield. Crede has no idea that Uribe is behind him and even if Uribe gets that you never know. I think there is a good shot he throws Lecroy out (simply because its Lecroy) but thats not a given. Hell Uribe is sliding just to get there. Crede did exactly what a 3rd baseman is taught to do. I've played baseball a long time and thats how I was always coached. I also pitched and the only time I would let the ball go through and not make an attempt at it, was when it was a bunt and I saw the 3rd baseman coming in. Otherwise if its up the middle and you got a shot, you at the very least try. If your falling off the mound and its more to where your SS or 2B are, then you let it go if its hard hit.
  21. To be honest this wasn't Crede's fault. He tripped and fell and yes it should of been an error, but he had no idea that Uribe was behind him and your taught as an infielder do all you can to keep the ball in the infield. The whole thing was tough luck. Crede is an excellent defender, and it was tough luck. He may be struggling at the plate but there is no reason for everyone to be getting so balistic with him. I'm as dissapointed as Joe as the rest, but sometimes people just overly blame a guy because he's struggling.
  22. Welcome to yet another addition at Soxtalk.com. You asked for it, we've brought it...its Around the Horn, the forum for everything baseball. Enjoy
