QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) Am I the only one who doesn't like it? I'd rather have a guy who's going to help you this year, i.e. Vasher last year -- have a chance to compete for a starting job. Reallistically, Orton has no shot of starting this year. I really would have liked to see them bring in someone for the O-Line, or perhaps help in the secondary. Because -- just incase we were to cut R-Dub, who do we have? Tillman, Azumah, Vasher.... and I'm drawing a blank... The Bears aren't going to cut Rdub. If they were, they may of drafted a CB. Orton is a very good pick because the Bears need help at the QB position. They didn't want to spend a lot of money at that position, therefor going via the draft in the latter rounds was there only option and they are getting a guy, who if he hadn't been hurt, would of likely been an early 1st day selection.

Bears are going to draft a qb on day 2.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) On a side note, you just became the 3rd person with a Kristin Kreuk avatar. Welcome to the club. And I'll be the first to take a fastball to the nuts :banghead

The Jet fans should be estatic. Nugent is a game changer.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) When they showed Bradley's highlights etc he looked like a YAC monster. The old adage is you can't teach athletism. The Bears obviously believe they can mold him into a stud. He's definately got the ability, just insane combine numbers and great field vision for yac.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Benson's interview after makes you feel a little less good about the pick but it's not a bad one. I do worry that Williams is going to really try to make Chicago and Minnesota big time victims for passing on him. I feel that they should go outside linebacker and I feel that they will. Lovie heavily hinted at that the other day. I think they will wait until the third for a reciever or move up into the end of the second if they really like someone. Angelo's drafts in the first have been questionable but he's done well in rounds 2-4 the last few years. Ya, the only knock I have on Benson is he sounds like a total freaking idiot. I heard him on ESPN and then he was on ESPN radio later in the day and again he sounded just totally stupid (imo). Then I heard Braylon Edwards on and god did he sound like a total stud. Same with Carnell Williams. Both just sound smart and like they know what they need to do. On the field though Benson was the best of the bunch. The guy is one of the all time best runners in collegiate football history. He's a total beast and can be a powerhouse. The Bears CB coach is also a former assistant at Texas and is familiar with Benson. If Benson has attitude problems I sure as hell believe and hope that the Bears CB coach would of said something about it. Assuming Benson signs and doesn't pull an Enis, he's got all the skills to be one hell of a back. And Bradley...holy cripes are the Bears taking a risk but this guy may be the best athlete in the draft. Kiper sure as hell loved the pick. He's definately raw, but he plays a physical game and is just an unbelieavable athlete. Also one of the states best high jumpers and was a decathalon star. He's like a slash type player.

Alex Smith goes #1 overall and the Dolphins are now on the clock.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) I think they will if they can. I believe that's the Bears preference. My hope is someone wants Rodgers bad enough and makes an offer. All 3 backs will be there plus Mike Williams (or so I think). If not all 3 backs then Braylon and 2 of the backs (with Miami taking Ronnie and I don't see this happening). JA is going to wait till the very end and listen to every and any offer.

The San Francisco 49ers are now on the clock
-
Looks as if all the backs will be on the board when the Bears pick. Browns seem to want Pollock bad...they'd prefer to move down and get him, but it doens't appear thats going to happen.
-
Good move, I like Crosby.
-
My guess is trade down, but I don't know if the right combination is there when the Bears select. You know damn well they want to move down a bit. It also looks as if Aaron Rodgers will be there when the Bears select. My hope is that the Skins like Rodgers and move up to grab him. Supposedly they lake Cambell at 25, but maybe they think Rodgers is the better of the bunch.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Tru, we don't need Ware. We already have Brown/Haynes/Ogunlye on the ends. Then again, I might be thinking of the wrong guy, but isn't Ware good enough to where he can adjust to playing OLB? If we do go that route -- and trade to get the #9 and #25 and an extra pick, I'd love to grab Derrick Johnson there... And then grab your WR/TE at #25. Please, someone tell me that I'm a f***ing nut for liking Johnson so damn much. Someone, please... I can't, I'd love to make that deal and see Derrick Johnson there. I"m a huge Johnson backer. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Carnell is flat out sick. The problem is Ronnie Brown may be more flat out sick. The only time I have seen something like this was with Jerome Bettis and Ricky Waters, that is rb's on the same team who had so much potential. SB I agree. I've followed Ronnie a little more and he's definately got the raw physical tools. I mean I wouldn't complain with either of the two. I also think Cedric is a damn good back as well though. I don't have a problem with any of the 5 guys being talked about (the backs or the WR's). -

Its funny how Carnell doesn't get talked about much. I haven't seen enough of Carnell to say much about him, but statistically he put up great numbers and he's supposed to be a strong athlete. I mean there was a reason he was starting over Ronnie Brown. -
Source: UNC's Felton, May to declare; Williams?

Sean May would be a hell of a fit in LA. I don't know if he'd slide down to where the Lakers will likely pick. -
This is the thread for all Bears related draft comments. Talk about the players they drafted, who you think they are drafted or rumors you hear. This thread will be opened upon the start of the draft.

I removed the March Madness forum today and all of its posts were moved back into the Sports Bar. I think next year we'll set up a seperate forum for the whole college basketball season cause that forum seemed to do really well. If there is interest we could set up something similar during the college football season as well.

You may just get to write some stories about Quinn Snyder getting s***canned. Oh and you'll learn just how crappy I really am

Actually I'd say more White Sox fans hate Cubs fans. Hell most Cub fans I know really don't care about the Sox and to be honest I really don't care much about the Cubs either. The only reason I don't want them to win it all is simply because they share the town with Chicago and it would be bad in the sense the Sox would never draw and they would get hurt in attendance which is what helps them at least have a decent payroll.
