  1. Assuming he clears I think he'll remain in the organization, but still, I would think he'd at least check in if another team had more of an opening for potential major league playing time. Jamie's a good guy and I wish him nothing but the best. Although he would definately be a loss, I know the Sox have Big Ben down in AAA, but Burke provided good depth down in Charlotte and could always help the Sox out in a bind. Its funny how they pulled him from the 40 because it wasn't like they didn't have an open spot. Unless when Willie went on bereavment it opened up a roster spot on the 40 (is that possible)?

    QUOTE(danman31 @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) Yeah, but it's a pitchers' park and numerous guys have not been able to make it in AAA going into a hitters' park. Smith, Phillips, and Villacis all have had troubles in AAA after good seasons in AA. I'm keeping a cautious eye, but I've been impressed with his work in AA since he got promoted. In Villacis case, he's just not good. In Smith's case I'm kind of puzzled because I think he's a good that at the very least will be a AAAA type of player who just won't be able to ever stick in the majors while Phillips probably could of used some more time in Bham, imo. As far as Lamura goes, he has the stuff, imo but still has more to learn. It will be intersting because he's long had to work on repeating his delivery and getting a more consistent curve. Sounds like he's been doing that thus far this year because he has a good fastball and when that curve is on its quite good as well.

    QUOTE(JimH @ May 9, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) The pitcher who's really starting to intrigue me is BJ LaMura. He's had some eye popping stats at Birmingham thus far. He's got a good arm, always has. He's really made some strides from his college days too.
  4. AWESOME
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 8, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) And Walker was???? Baj has a 0.77 ERA right now, Walker with a 6.00 How are you going to feel when Walker takes the bump in any game? On a 24-7 team, I wont be to happy. The only reason Walker is up is because he pitched well in spring and Ozzie got to see him pitch well first hand. Baj or Fields would of been the better call if they wanted an extra reliever and with Marte/Cotts in teh pen its not like the Sox need a 3rd lefty. Baj pitched well in spring but rarely got any action in games Ozzie was managing. And he wasn't bad last year, he had some awful luck and the numbers were awful.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 8, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Seven guys in the pen? Not to mention Walker is a cross between Billy Botch and Antonio Alfonsucka. Well the Sox will have a tough series or two coming up so it isn't necessarily horrible to have the extra lefty in the pen.
  7. QUOTE(T R U @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) I dont get how you cant like DJ, hes funny.. I love listening to games with DJ up there, hes great I'm with you. I find myself laughing histerically at the games. DJ is awesome...with Hawk and without him. Now for Don...well he's not the greatest in the world but I still find myself entertained. And I for one, love the UH-OH....it just reminds me of Family Guy
  8. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 7, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) maybe this sounds odd, but i'm just glad to see that he still isnt walking people. i'll live with performances like today, where he says 'here it is hit it'..... even when they do hit it, i prefer this approach to the problems from last year where he would not challenge people i dont see him ever being an absolutely unhittable type guy..... but if he's going to go about things the way he has in every start this year..... he's got a spot in my rotation as long as he wants it Its tough he was pitching on long breaks damn near ever inning and when he fell behind he'd give them the pitches. He did his job, they won the game and Garland is kicking some butt!!!!
  9. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) If you have noticed, Charlotte has been a revolving door of players the past few years. The Sox make more in season acquisitions there than all of their other minor league teams combined. At least it seems that way....... It also seems to be a cursed ballpark. They seem to have more injuries then most of the teams and a lot of the top prospects tend to show up and flounder there, even the hitters and its an extreme hitters park.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) (Let the Ozzie castration for leaving in Duque begin) Over/Under: 17 posts I can't stand watching Duque pitch...whether its the first or the 7th, I have zero faith in him and his pension for throwing so many damn pitches and falling behind so many hitters. He's getting the job done though and hopefully he finds his command and stays healthy and does even better.
  11. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) Crede had a very short lead. Not sure why Frasor was so worried about him. I'd rather see Crede run than Uribe...Sox should make it a law to keep Uribe from stealing. He is so horrid.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) If Kenny acquired Huff, it would just about compensate for my sadness of losing Carlos Lee. Seriously, I know that this organization likes Brian Anderson, but I'd bet that he's the number one trading chip in a blockbuster deal. They aren't going to trade McCarthy, and same with Sweeney. If we win the world series..I don't care what Kenny does for the next 3 years. I know I'll b**** regardless, but I'd just be happy with one world series trophy...its worth 50 years of suckitude.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) IF..there is a game 7 and Duhon still can't go, I'd start Pargo at point. Hinrich can play point and Pargo can defend the point. I want Hinrich running the offense...hell I can't stand it when he's offensively set as the two guard. He should always be moving the ball up the court. Well I don't mind it when Duhon is the other guard, but when its Ben/Pargo I have a problem.
  14. QUOTE(quickman @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) score? Bulls up 2 at the half.
  15. QUOTE(Fotop @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) ...and Nuke and Jason crawl out of their various holes.... Bulls game went to halftime. I have the volume on the upstairs computer on really loud so I can hear the game and during commercials/breaks I come upstairs and watch the game.
  16. QUOTE(Fotop @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) I like Howard a lot, but I think they want a king's ransom for him. Plus, Thome is hurt so Howard is providing good insurance. Maybe if Howard bombs in his limited time, his trade value will go down. I personally want Adrian Gonzalez from TEX because there's no way breaks that infield anytime soon. Plus, he's left handed, which is always good. I just don't know what we could offer Texas...maybe some pitching prospects not named McCarthy. I wouldn't give up a ransom for an unproven minor leaguer...case closed. If your going to give up a ransom of prospects or anything else, you better darn well get a damn good player. For example...I rate a ton of the Sox prospetcs over Howard. Homers are great and all but he still k's too much (although he's improved on things) and minor league numbers doesn't mean major league success. Philly can have him. I'd love him in the Sox org, but I'm not about to give up the farm for a farm player. I'd rather give a kings ransom for Aubrey Huff.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) JERMAINE!!! That a'way, JD! Slowly Jermaine's timing is on its way back.
  18. UH-OH JERMAINE DYE HOMER :WOOT
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Tyson is gonna be the key to the 2nd half. He has to contest shots in the paint and wreck havoc on the glass. Tyson=key to the game. And he needs to stop trying to outjump people on the defensive glass and start getting his body on guys. Funderburke has actually played well. Made a bucket and hasn't been a bad passer inside. I'd like to see him take it strong once or twice though cause he's had the ball in good post position on a couple occassions.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Lead goes from 9 to Wizards lead before anyone knew what the f*** happend. That was just purely a bulls*** display of basketball. You don't protect the basketball and you pay. Luckily Pargo comes in and hits a clutch bucket. Plus you had Griffin doing his thing and Chandler looks like he's maybe got himself back under control. Hinrich is playing really good. I want to know one thing, Hinrich isn't even close to the fastest guard on this team, yet he's the only one that can freaking penetrate??? What the hell is Ben doing? Ben needs to use his speed and get inside. I saw him do it once and he was able to make the pass for an easy Bulls bucket. Hinrich can't be the only one capable of doing this on a regular basis...oh ya, did I mention..Bulls win this series, I've decided I'm buying myself a Hinrich jersey (By FAAR my favorite player...god he plays heady).
  21. If anyone ever wants to know why Ben doesn't start yet..watch tonights game. God he needs to learn to protect the basketball and that doesn't evne go into his crappy defense. To be honest, Ben is really not much different than Pargo. Both are shooters and great scorers, aside from that, they got quite a bit to work on still. Chandler had a f***ing retarded ass flagrant..what the hell was he thinking. Gordon with 2 stupid turnovers creating to 2 easy transition buckets.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) DON'T JINX!!!!!! Oh don't worry, no jinx from me.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) It's so comical keeping an eye on how frequently Washington gets points on offensive rebounds. One thing I notice, no one is f***ing boxing out. Instead they stand there and hope to outjump for the rebound. You almost always see Haywood or Ruffin without bodies on them after the shot...it doesn't cut it.
  24. If I never heard Walton announce another game...I wouldn't cry. How the hell is he their main announcer???? Steve Kerr and Albert were lightyears better. And on that cheapie Hinrich call all I found myself doing was swearing at the TV after Walton goes, oh that was just too easy to call. Walton = BUFFOON...BULLS = WINNERS Captain Kirk is putting this team on his back and they aren't leaving Washington without a W, you can see the fire and passion he is playing with.
  25. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:42 PM) Ok I'm definitely going to remember this. At least I can take comfort in knowing the Cowboys will have a better record than the Bears. Don't hold your breath on that one Andrew....Cowboys are way overrated, too many people act as if they made so many great moves. Parcell = OVER THE HILL.
