NBA All-Rookie Teams announced
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Point is seven steals off of practically anyone but iverson is really impressive. Stealing seven off of iverson is like four from a good ball handler. Its like stealing 7 from Ben Gordon

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 6, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) What he said. Maybe AJ jersey sales alone would make it worth giving him a few mill deal

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) They said that fans should check out Soxtalk.com and whitesoxinteractive.com. They said that they were cool sites and had a ton of smart fans on them. I think it was Wilsy who mentioned it last year towards the end of the year. Very cool...Welcome Aboard, always great having another Sox fan on board

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) I just see a 19 year old, maybe he is 20 now down at low a can possibly be scraping the top of the system in 2 years. I see him at least at W-S by the end of the year. First he's a catcher, second he's still got tons of work to do and third, he isn't going to get promoted anytime soon. Catchers are the slowest moving guys through the system because there is so much more to learn than how to hit pitching at different levels. You need to learn and constantly improve your game calling skills, release, and blocking ability behind the plate. He's still insanely raw too. At the very least, he'd be in Bham next year, Charlotte the following year and then Chicago....and frankly I could see it being even another year. Lucy is a guy that could get hot, but as physically gifted as he is, he still is quite raw.

Jeff Allison back on the mound
Ya, I still can't figure out with Anderson. I never thought he'd come in and tear up Charlotte. I thought he'd be in for a rough first half....shows what I know, LOL.

The Feelings
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) I am guardedly optimistic. But, as my Twins friend always points out: the Sox have come out of the gate strongly the past two years--but haven't been able to finish the deal. I hope they go deep into the playoffs, but I'll take it one game at a time.... Thats how I think I'd rate myself. All I know is I'm happy the Sox are where they are and hopefully it lasts.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 4, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Well Mike, you're a shoe-in for the Soxtalk Hall of Fame. I guess the only question that comes to fans' minds now is retirement. Nah..when he tests positive for using a robot to help post for him he'll get a lifetime ban

NBA All-Rookie Teams announced
But would you honestly chose Duhon ahead of Deng? Cause Iggy had a pretty solid year and considering he was healthy the whole year was definately chosen over Luol (who I happen to rave about). Although he was better than Jamer Nelson who made the 2nd squad (regardless of Nelson's hot finish...he isn't near the all around player Duhon is).

Who will have a better record?
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) The Bears added the NFL's leading TD guy from last season, the 2nd RB in the Draft, 2 new OLineman, and they get their #1 QB back. I think that will help their offense 10 fold. 2 OL, a top WR, a stud RB, a #1 QB Plus the Bears had a great defense without their 3 best players for the majority of the season. Brown, Urlacher, Tillman Plus they were already lightyears better then these teams. This is just a piece of s*** article.

Who will have a better record?
Are you freaking kidding me. This is so easy...Bears are going to win 8 games minimum and my guess is they win more like 10. This isn't because they are that good, its more in fact due to the easy early schedule they have. Oh and the Browns are freaking awful.

avatar vids
The big issue is a lot of people post from work and I understand they can turn off avatars and such, but at the same time many don't and its the issue of someone looking bad or getting in trouble at work. We don't ever want it to come to that. Hell, I've had girls on my avatar many a time and I know we have had the Hot Chick Contest...the thing is, we also don't need just random general pics of girls getting slammed. I have no problem with people posting different stuff and having things in there avs, at the same time, just be respectful of that person whose at work or surfing the net with there kid. Basically I'm saying pics where you basically see everything but dont'...well thats not cool. I mean really its rarely a judgement call and if you have doubts ask one of us or simply don't post it. It has nothing to do with me or any of the admins/mods having an ego. Its something we've often times have had commented or PM'd to us and its just something were considering. The best thing though is for everyone to monitor themselves and if they think it may be over the line...don't post it or ask us and we'll tell you. Also remember there are women who also post on this site and they are entitled to not having to see stuff they don't want to. The way I see it, if your looking for porn...go to some other site, this is the place to talk Sox and a hell of a lot of other things. By all means talk about this actress being hot but put up a link to some photos you think are hot (not nude photos) and simply put a warning for people that are at there work. That way those who want to can see and those who don't don't have to.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I don't recall, what were his other options? Wilson Valdez who has done a decent job with the Mariners.

The Feelings
Its funny...I've had the feeling the SOx were going to blow it today and I never though they'd come back a couple days ago when Everett hit the 2 run double. But I'll take it...and usually I'm an optimist. Of course I only started saying they would blow it when Shingo walked two.

Notes: Frank Thomas improving
QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) Lineups when Frank is back: Against RHP: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Everett RF Thomas DH Konerko 1B Rowand CF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS Against LHP: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Thomas DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Rowand CF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS Just my two cents. I tend to agree with that, but if Konerko keeps struggling I'd even think of letting Everett play 1st on ocassion against RHP's. Although hopefully by then you'll see Konerko hitting.

Roosevelt Brown
I remember him going to Japan, but I think he was back in the minors last year. IIRC I saw him when he was down in Charlotte last year (playing for another team). I know one thing, he could always rake the ball down in the minors.

gas prices
QUOTE(Be Good @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Jeez 2.09, NY hasn't seen that since the early winter, anywhere. Right now the average is 2.40 give or take 10 cents. Cheap out my way is about 2.40...the places right by my house are about 2.60 (for the 87 octane). Luckily by campus its 2.40

gas prices
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) It's really not necesary. The car companies are getting killed right now because SUV sales have plummetted. Ford and GM are taking a bath on those gas guzzlers, the bigger they are, the biggest the sales drops. Plus the companies who invested in hybrids can't build enough of them. Production is shifting as we speak. As usual, the free market is taking care of business. Yes, but fact of the matter the demand is too high and even if the US got more barrels, which I know one of the OPEC nations was offering to give more barrels but it still wouldn't matter. Regardless we could use another refinery or two and no one is going to tell me otherwise. And yes I'm a huge fan of the new hybrid products, but in some cases they are a little pricey to the point where you pay the extra few thousand dollars and you'll never reap the benefits of the better gas mileage in the long run. Its definately the first step and its an awesome technoligy that will help split the gap between the oil age and whatever age is next (whether its hydrogen fuel cells or what) but in between that there is still the production gap and frankly they don't have enough hybrids yet and the cost-savings analysis doesn't make sense on a lot of them...YET.

Kenny interested in Tony G.?
QUOTE(southsider17 @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) I didn't hear anything about this. What's the story? I never heard anything about that. The only thing I remember was Tony liked the Sox, JR loved Tony but Tony wanted to at least give starting a shot and at the time the Royals were coming off a surprising year and were going to let him play everyday.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I saw this post at the other Sox message board... I myself heard Rooney and Farmer talking about Graffanino but I didn't see the post-game with Melton. Graffanino is earning $1.1 million in the final year of his contract with the Royals this season. Kenny must want a solid backup 3rd baseman. Interesting to say the least. Graffy was a class act with the Sox and the organization always liked him. His move was solely for more playing time and it didn't work out. I'd definately love to see him back on the South Side.
