  1. Well some of the stuff this article said is different then what I had read it would have. Cause from the prior readings it sounds like they were going to be getting rid of some of the things that made this xbox great. Also the new PS3 is supposed to be BlueRay/HDDVD. THey won't price it anymore than the original Xbox and PS2 did when they came out.
  2. Very well written....and I agree.

Looking forward to see if Heath can get his stuff together.
  5. 2005 Winston Salem Update By Trevor Seymour (FarmTeam) May 10, 2005 FutureSox.com The Winston Salem Warthogs are currently 16-15, putting them 2.5 games behind Southern Division leader Kinston. The Hogs are led by manager Chris Cron, pitching coach Andy Tomberlin, and hitting coach Sean Snedeker. The Warthogs don’t have any of FutureSox’s Top 10 prospects on the roster, a stark difference from last years club which had the entire Top 5 at one point or another (Brandon McCarthy, Brian Anderson, Ryan Sweeney, Josh Fields, Sean Tracey). However, they what looks to be a good pitching staff and have thus far got surprisingly good protection out of Chris Amador and sport one of the better infields in the Carolina league...MORE Welcome Aboard Trevor!!!!
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) We traded him in late January of 2002. I am almost 100% sure of this. Unless that is what you are trying to say. They traded him during the offseason for Willie Harris. I remember cause I was in Vegas at a conference when it happened. I was sad because Singleton was one of my favs. It wasn't a bad move by the Sox though.
  7. Best of all I'm pretty sure the new DVD players will be backwards compatible so people won't have to replace all there old DVD's. They better be damn it.
  8. For some reason I remember that movie being sad or having some sad parts and I never get sad during a movie...especially a Keanu Reeves movie
  9. I always liked Chris too. Man did he have a hell of a rookie year. Hit for the cycle with the Sox during his career as well. Plus he played an awesome center field. Its too bad his offense went downhill after his rookie year. I wonder if DJ said anything about him. I remember the two bonded in 99 (Chris' rookie year and I think it was DJs final season).
  10. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 9, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) Is this BlueRay? BluRay and HDDVD have basically merged formats. It was just a matter of time until it happened and it finally did. Otherwise there would of been some major compatability issues. IT should be pretty badass and I guess its getting closer to being a reality.
  11. ATO: BMAC Wins POTW By Jason Gage May 9, 2005 FutureSox.com Brandon McCarthy's first dominate start of the season earned him International League Player of the Week honors for Charlotte. Brandon went 8 shutout innings, giving up 5 hits while striking out 10 (2 walks). It was Brandon's 3rd straight win and was the only start he made all week...MORE
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) I can't call us bandits yet when we supposedly insisted on dealing Reed instead of Borchard. Sitll happy with what we got though, we just didn't fleece them. It was going to be Reed all along supposedly. The big question was whether it would be Crede or Olivo.
  13. For the Tigers its a good thing its not his hip. Thats supposed to be really bad. They thought it was career threatening a year or two ago.
  14. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) I have to say...Wilbon in my head is probably one of the most respectable scrubs fans out there. He always tells it like it is and really isnt biased when he reports. If I was a good writer I was thinking about writing up one of those online petitions to get kotex boy ousted from Around the Horn or at least something to tell the sun-times i refuse to read thier paper and would rather read the other paper that owns the flubs.... if anyone could do it try out Online Petition PTI is just a great show. And completely agree with what you say on Wilbon.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Nyquill = godliness. I can have a real tough problem sleeping if I'm sick, that stuff kicks ass. Nyquill is about the only medicine I take and thats only when being sick keeps my up.
  16. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ May 9, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) See, I TOLD you there's liberal bias in the media! Seriously though Congrats Apu. You'll have to post the transcript to your stories up here or something. I'll check them out.

QUOTE(quickman @ May 9, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) If he is anything like he was in spring training, he is not worth it.Robin the player and robin the broadcaster are two different things. I didn't get to hear him in spring and I guess that may of been a blessing, lol. Still I'm one of the few that likes DJ. He can have me rolling while watching the game. He's freaking hillarious in my book. Remember I have to listen to Rex Hudler do the Angel games so anything in comparison to him is amazing.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) LaMura was out of Clemson if I recall. I remember one of the Sox brass commenting when he was drafted that they felt he had a chance as a solid bullpen guy. He started and relieved in college I'm pretty sure. He was a mid round pick, within the top 10 rounds, so they saw something they liked. Ya, I was thinking either Clemson or Texas A&M and I think Pollock was the one from A&M. I remember he didn't have world beater numbers from Clemson but that he supposedly had a good arm. I also think your right on him being both a reliever/starter. In fact I think he was a closer part of the time there because IIRC somewhere there was talk of both him and Botch being in the Sox system together (Botch closed for Clemson I think).

I can't wait to catch part of this game (until I go to my night class). I just want to hear Robin in the booth.
  20. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) This begs the question: What constitues a start? Does this "start" extend to the All-Star break? Does it end after a set amount of games, wins, or losses? At what point does a "start" turn into a regular season record? ...I suppose that's more than one question. Another question is...when is a slump not a slump and more a sign of flat being bad (ie the Yankees or even Cleveland).
  21. My vote is worry about this when Frank is ready.
  22. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) These match-ups are in our favor, right? Chen has been pitching his ass off just like Garland so thats gonna be a wash. I like the Buerhle/Garcia ones towards the Sox while Bedard has been pitching like a maniac so I'd give him the nod. However, if the Sox play baseball (pitch well, catch the ball, and execute) they are capable of winning every game...same can be said for the Orioles. Wow that was a bold statement ehh
  23. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ May 9, 2005 -> 07:40 AM) This series is getting hyped up big time. I went over to the O's board and they are geeked for the series. They want to beat us so bad and be the best team. Their problem is they are run on offense like we were the past few years. They will hit their slumps. Except for Tejada. Well if they keep getting the pitching they have from Bedard, Ponson, etc then they'll be in it for the long haul. I'm still waiting to see how the pitching holds up. They do have one heck of an offense though. They aren't just on power either cause Roberts has great speed and even Sosa isn't all that slow. They aren't stealing as many bases as the Sox, but IIRC they are in the top 3 or 4 in stolen bases in the AL. Its going to be a great series and this next stretch will be interesting. First the Sox got to keep focusing one game at a time though.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Dickweed brings his 4 games vs. + .500 teams argument. Hey Captain dips*** who the f*** made Tornoto a .500 team This is a show about arguing so if I were on it I'd be discussing the same things if I were talking about the flip side.
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 9, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) What do you mean by waiver priority? I always thought the team with the worse record has priority. I think last year's record is out the window for this year since the season is more than 30 days old. Are you sure you move to the end of the line if you claim a player? I don't think that is true. No you don't, it goes by record and league. If its an AL player they go from the worse record to the best to claim and then it goes to the NL from the worse record team to the best record. Once a player clears waivers during the year then they are free to move between the majors and AAA for that entire season as well (If I understand waivers correctly). In the case of Burke he only has to clear once again because he is being removed from the 40. Edit: Maybe the only time waiver priority would come into effect would be in the case of a tie (where two AL teams have the same record, which team gets the shot at claiming the player first)? Otherwise I'm 99% sure there is no such thing as waiver priority, I know it comes down to record. Also the reason teams often times let guys slip through waivers and then negotiate with them is for financial purposes. If you claim them then you pick up the remaining contract. However, if they clear waivers and become FA's then you can offer them the league minimum and the team that waived him is responsible for the rest of his contract.
