Bulls vs. Rockets
On a sidenote qwerty, I have absolutely zero idea why were talking about 4 or 5 missed freethrows. Regardless it was a s***ty game, haha. And I think "Curries" gonna be the man

Sox have Korean Pitcher try out
Seems like a worthwhile minor league investment. Obviosly he's a project, but he's got a good arm and this is after not pitching in a couple years.

Bulls vs. Rockets
QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) All over ta game thread i am reading they said he missed four in a row. Then one person said he missed five. I am pretty confused. Well since i couldn't get you on that ''curries? Wtf, that is something i would say. Trust me on this. I was swearing up a storm. He missed two, one of which he freaking shot what the Houston announcer claimed as the ugliest free throw he's ever seen. Outdoing Wilt the Stilt and Shaq. Then he got fouled again, missed another two. Then about two minutes later he got fouled on a surefire dunk by Juwan Howard, went back to the line and missed his 5th in a row. The announcer said something along the lines of now its just in between the ears. He finally made the 6th and it was his 15th point of the night. He scored 2 more the rest of the night. If you look at Eddy's shots you'll also notice that he made two more free throws after that point, finishing 9 of 14 form the line and like I said, he was 7-12 when he finally broke the strung and he started the game 6 of 6.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I'm a big fan of CPAs and Lawyers. I am not a big fan of a "book keeper" who charges 500 dollars to send out 25 invoices, balance the checkbook, and send out payroll. I can cut the invoices in under an hour a month total, balance a checkbook is a breeze with Quickbooks, and payroll services for small businesses are dirt cheap now. The key is working with a CPA before getting too far down the road. This business is going to be a challenge based on some current situations. My wife, son, and daughter will be helping at various times. I am starting to think about the tax implications of paying my son versus a big, jumbo, allowance. Doesn't every kid get a $200 per week allowance? Tex, I'd definately get a tax guy just to help plan things out. A good tax planner can really help you save a lot of money and he can do it again when it comes to filing taxes and makes sure you get the most out of your itemized deductions.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) CPA's are good Tex (shameless plug here) Seriously, if a CPA can't save you what you pay them, they're not the best CPA. Sometimes, a CPA can give you ideas that generate enough money to triple what you pay them over a year. Couldn't say that more. If someones running a complicated business and they want to do there own taxes, odds are unless they are a genius of tax code, they would save a lot more going to a good CPA. However, Quickbooks, like Tex says, basically does what a bookkeeper does. I just set up a quickbooks system at our office thats semi complicated simply because of all the accounts and we programed some middlewear stuff to apply to the industry we are in. But its basically got rid of the part time bookkeeper and my god is it more efficient and the data is superior simply because the system is built right. Just make sure you get everything set up right from the get go, otherwise it can be a pain in the ass.

Business Law question Car buying question
If thats what its advertised as, I'd just show up and buy because thats a freaking steal for a 2003 Element. Just see what they say. Even if it were totaled out they'd be selling it for more then that. Plus dealerships don't sell totaled out cars. Trust me, its a mistake, but you never know what could happen so call and ask them. If its the price I'd buy the thing and then put it back up and sell it for more.

Business Law question Car buying question
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) I found an online add for a 2003 Honda Element for $1,999.00 I know what you're thinking, what's wrong with it? well, it's from a dealer, so I'm assuming nothing because it's listed along with a few others at higher prices. I'm thinking that they've mistyped this and made a mistake. my question: if nothing in fact is wrong with this vehicle, do they have to sell that vehichle at that price?? discuss Nope, when its a misquote they aren't forced to do it. I know some stores have even mis priced something on there online catalogue and people have bought the stuff and while many stores will honor those that bought it as the mistaken price, they also can tell them not to.

Bulls vs. Rockets
QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) Four. No, he missed 4 and then he went back to the line on a foul and missed a 5th and then put the 6th one in. He walked away from the line and was like FINALLY. Started 6 for 6 and then was 6 for 11 and then 7 for 12.

ESPN U
Technically I just learned that Fox Sports offers this type of thing to. I guess they have like Fox College Sports South, West and like midwest or something. Saw the commercial today. I think I have the channels and never knew what they were, but I remember being able to watch some SEC baseball games on it last year.

Bulls vs. Rockets
Cant say I didn't tell people so. I didn't like this match up and remembered that asswhooping the Rockets sent the Bulls last time around too. They flat out kicked the piss out of the Bulls and minus Curries string of 5 missed free throws, he actually played pretty solid and gasp, made effort on a couple rebound attempts (it really stood out and shocked me, LOL). Garbage, piece of crap game though. I turned that crap off early in the 2nd half.

Bears after Jay Fiedler??
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Kelly's pretty much a lock to head back to Cleveland anyways, even if they draft a QB which is doubtful. Reports are that him and the Browns are pretty heated right now in terms of negotiations. The next week will give a better answer, imo.

Soxtalk Keeper League
Nevermind Kap, its boz that still has to register. Actually I've yet to hear back from him with a yes or no so I don't know if he's interested. I'll catch him on aim, if not, there will be one opening and we'll quickly add someone.
-
Soxtalk Keeper League
For those that don't have keepers, make sure you give me your names and I'll find a way to do the draft for you. Basically go through and make your personal rankings and list them somewhere between 1-4 the guys you plan on keeping. For those, and there are a few that don't have keepers, you'll have access to start drafting from the get go, but you cna't grab anyone on the list of keepers. So Steff, just go in and prerank yours with Ray Durham #1, then for the rest go with whoever and I will ask that once I have everyones keepers posted that you make sure to put hte other keepers at the very bottom of your list. After Round 4 it will be a free for all. And Kap get your butt signed up, I think your the only one who hasn't.

*Official* College Basketball Thread
I can finally give my school a little props. They are one of the best teams in the big west and they play at home this Thursday against top 25 Pacific. Fullerton didn't lose by much to Pacific last time and has at least a decent shot at beating them this time. Its kind of odd, I'm actually excited about a basketball game at my school!!!! GO TITANS

ESPN U
QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) I get ISU alumni email newspapers weekly, and they mentioned something of this nature. Apparently, they will be feeding this to campus dorms, as well as dining centers, for no extra charge; however, the article also stated it won't be available on standard/basic cable. I guess you must have either a dish or digital cable with ESPN U as a selected channel. I guess it would be cool to see some ISU games, since that's hard to do outside of Bloomington/Normal. I'm sure its one of those things that will eventually appear if people want it. I know ESPN News isn't on standard cable out where we are but we have digital cable (how else could I watch all the Sox games, lol) so its included in that package which is nice.

Hudson gets new deal
Anyone want to be the Braves trade him in a couple years. They definately backloaded the deal with his annual salary the first two years being incredibly modest and since the Braves are now financially strapped I don't see them taking him at 13 mil a year. Damn good deal for the Braves though, basically a little under 12 mill per season guaranteed for 4 yrs. Unless my numbers are off.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 1, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) The problem is, is Skiles ever going to start Hinrich and Gordon together? They'll get abused defensively against bigger guards especially come playoff time. Ya, Hinrich is already a good defender. He may be smaller but he's strong and quick enough to d up pretty much anyone. Of course he has trouble against the real tall scoring guards like Tmac and Kobe, but pretty much everyone does and in those instances you can slide Noc and Deng over. Gordon and Hinrich will play together a lot more next year, but there already on the court a ton at the same time. It just happens to be that the way Gordon plays he'd absolutely die if he played 40 minutes a game. He'll improve stamina wise though and be able to handle more minutes and of course he'll have to improve defensively, but Skiles is the right guy for that job.

ESPN U
I just saw a commercial about it and had no clue they were starting a new ESPN station. This one is gonna be all about college sports. Sounds like a really cool idea. I'd like to see htem televise some smaller schools basketball programs and of course other random sports. I also think it be very neat if they televised some college baseball games during the season.
-
Bulls vs. Rockets
Gonna be a tough game. Yao gives Curry fits down in the block and Tmac can run amock, although I think Noc will get him a little frustrated. Still, I love watching the Bulls play other good teams because they typically play well against them, although for whatever reason they do better against the top teams in the west then the ones in the east or at least it seems that way.

Bears after Jay Fiedler??
Good, but its gonna be tough. I heard a few different NFL experts talking and they were indicating that Fielder has been getting tons of calls and is gonna be a hot name in the backup/starter type area. Would be a hell of a pickup by the Bears. Also heard mention of the Bears and Holcomb if something happens there. They want someone that is capable of coming in if Grossman flops and then they are obviously gonna also work on developing Hutchinson, but a legit backup is needed.

Baseball America top 100
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) Fair enough. I agree with what you said, though I guess Bmac and Anderson could be ready some time this year but hopefully we won't have to rush them. Bmac is on the brink and I guess you could make a case for Anderson being there as well. Personally I think any guy within a years time given a good growht earns that right. I still think Anderson is farther away then most, but he's gonna be a good one. Bmac's gonna be at worse a good #3 and I still think he's got ace potential if his velocity develops and even if it doesn't can be a good #2, but I've long been very high on Bmac. I like guys that can throw strikes and know where to put the ball. He can do that and mixes things up well. Edited by danman for ridiculously bad grammar by Jason. 'I like guys who no where to put the ball?' You have to be really out of it to write that. How do you confuse no with know? /End rant

Baseball America top 100
QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) baseball america just came out with 75-100 top prospects, Fields lands at 95 with Iguchi right behind him at 96. i guess you consider him a prospect. interestingly enough angel guzman has fallen to 88 for the scrubs, who will probably have only pie and dopirak in the top 100, sox should land anderson sweeney mccarthy and maybe tracey http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/featu...228top1001.html Guzman has arm trouble. You should see Anderson, Sweeney and Bmac all appear somewhere on the list. I don't anticipate Tracey or Young (the other two guys BA really likes) making the top 100, especially since they've already had 75-100. Heck, there is an outisde shot that Sweeney doesn't make it simply based on his production, but BA and most scouts tend to rave about Ryan.

Chris Duhon
Duhon does a good job and his offense has been steadily improving. The problem is Duhon still is young and obviously has to learn, but he is a good defensive point guard at this point and should only get better, imo. I don't ever think he'll be a star, but he is a TRUE point guard and as BG develops he'll look really nice coming off the bench spelling both Hinrich and Gordon.

DAVID Terrell released
I pretty much guarantee the Bears won't draft a WR at #4. Financially it would be stupid to give Musin so much money and then give a big time signing bonus to Braylon. My money is on the Bears signing a veteran WR like Travis Taylor at a price tag similar to what DT made this past year. I think JA likes Gage, Wade and Berrian as the 3, 4 and 5 recievers with them being able to learn from veterans. In the draft I think the Bears go RB, LB or possibly Alex Smith assuming they stay at 4. I also wouldn't mind Antrelle Rolle, simply because I think he's a stud. But mark my words, they WILL NOT draft a WR at #4. Also John Clayton seems to think Warner is destined to join the Bears. It appears that following the signing the Bears still have roughly 7 million in cap room this year.

Halo 2 Clan
I'd be down. Its been a while since I played online, but I was like level 8 or something. My tag is: Bullsback (I think thats it at least).
