  1. Renteria is nowhere near worth 10 million and it seems like thats what it would take to get him. I'd be pretty upset if he got that. He's a solid ballplayer, but your giving him near Tejada money and he's not that good.
  2. Who wouldn't, just look at his numbers. One of those really good players that not many people know about. Stick him in left and watch him hit .300 with 35 HR's and 100 plus RBI's. SPeaking of Hall. He'll hit .260 or so but he throws out about 38% of would be base stealers. Plus he's only 27 years old and rarely strikes out. (41 times in 404 AB's this past season).
  3. I think so, that or his wife dropped the charges. Forget what exactly what it was, but it was him beating his wife or something along those lines (allegedly). Supposedly he's really cleaned up his act since.
  4. Why not offer Contreras and cash for Burnett
  5. Why not. If you know his price is about 12 mill a year and if KW gets the approval to make such and offer I see no reason why not. Hudson is an absolute ace. I love BMac and would absolutely hate dealing him, but I am confident the Sox could reup with Hudson (JR would have to approve giving big money to him prior to making the deal). Hudson also gives the Sox an absolutely KILLER rotation. All I know is the Sox can do better then Jackson/Perez. Thats an awful trade from the A's perspective, I don't care what anyone tells me. A pitcher of Hudson's ability is not a guy you give up for one upper echelon pitching prospect.
  6. The Astros got rid of him due to run ins with the law. He was always a guy who had a lot of potential and he's realizing it down in Tampa. But the Drays are happy with their potential middle infield and would like to get rid of him. Lugo would be a fantastic pickup, although I'd probably shift him to 2nd base.
  7. That would be a fantastic acquisition. I'd deal Lee and a very good prospect in a package for those two. I Huff is a stud and would be the answer to the left handed bat and while Hall hasn't been that great I think he could really put things together. I'm a Hall fan.
  8. Chacon would be a nice pickup. He's got good upside and getting him away from Coors will be a big help. Versatile pitcher who I'd like to have a part of this staff. Notice the Sox would pick him up potentially if he's non tendered so they wouldn't be trading for him. And your right, it is interesting that he was on Arizona's list.
  9. One question about Weiss? Does he wheel himself around in a cart? Or was that before he had his operation?
  10. Happy Bday Goldy. To one of the best sig makers and best posters on Soxtalk Have a great BDay
  11. Happy Birthday Mike. Figure this is as good a time as ever to thank ya for all the hard work you've put into Soxtalk. Have a good one
  12. A trib article mentioned that Konerko would only be dealt if RJ came to the SouthSide and then in the next sentence it implied that Lee would be part of a Vazquez deal. What the heck???? Luckily its just speculation at this point.
  13. Fantastic Bulls game. That was so fun to watch. I still figured the whole time they'd find a way too blow it. Really surprised they didn't. Gordon is probably the best shooter on the team at this point (screw Piatkowski, the guy blows ass on anything but a spot up jumper). Bulls are making strides, they just got to work on cutting out the stretches of awfulness.
  14. Reading between the lines, Kenny has or will get approval from JR to up the payroll if he can get RJ.
  15. Jesus, can Rotoworld please shut the hell up with their opinions. Its obvious they can never say a bad thing about Beane. But every goddamn thing Kenny does is crap in their mind. Mark my words they would of raved had Beane signed Hermanson or gotten Dye at the price they did (look at what Richard Freaking Hildalgo got for cripes sake). Beane is a freaking idiot if all he gets is Edwin Jackson and Antonio Perez. Its just gonna be further prove that he's gone downhill ever since Depodesta left. Beane is and would be absolutely nothing if it weren't for the big three and were soon going to find that out. BOOK IT. Perez has been so damn streaky its amazing. The guy is nothing more then Willie Harris with less speed. Oh big whoop, he hit 22 homers this past season, the most he has had since 2000 (By far too by the way). The guy had a whopping 13 homers in between those periods. Of course he also missed some time do to injury. STrikes out a lot for a 2nd baseman, but does show decent patience. Willie Harris is a better prospect, imo. The PCL is an extreme hitters league too, especially Las Vegas where the Dodgers AAA affiliate plays (at least from what I've heard talked about on Dodger broadcasts). This is an absolutely terrible deal if it goes down. I'd offer up Bmac, Harris, and Anderson. Thats a far better package then what the Dodgers are offering. Billly, your a moron.
  16. Oh my, I'd love to get a hold of Burnett. He's gonna be back to putting up monstrous numbers this year.
  17. Don't count that idea out. Regardless the Yanks could use a power hitting first baseman since it really does appear Giambi won't be a Yank (although they'll probably be paying him).
  18. I should add I'm not really knocking Leinart, I just think he wasn't deserving. I do think he's going to make a solid pro qb and is going to get drafted very high. And Booty is going to be the starter next year, book it. He's supposed to be better then Palmer and Leinart.
  19. What a joke. I'd of picked Bush over Leinart. Ask anyone in the pac 10 (coaches that is) and they'll tell ya the game plan was to stop Bush not Leinart. Heard Boise States coach talkinga bout Bush and was saying more of the same. It should of been White or Peterson.
  20. I'm sure the Yanks are dropping out. They figured out they could get Pavano, jumped on it, still want to add Milton and potentially RJ and are going to do or try to do just that. They are just shooting the bull on this mri. I'm guessing you could find something you don't like on any pitcher whose pitched in the majors long enough and thats what they'll do. This sucks for Wright cause now his market value just takes a crap. Hell, you may be able to get him one year now. Still, assuming what Rosenthal is saying is true, I'd go for him.
  21. Great deal for the Brewers. I heard Steve Phillips talking about it and he said the buzz was Atlanta was giving up another good arm as well. Don't know if their is any truth to that or not. Cappellan is one of the very best pitching prospects out their but this move does make sense for the Braves cause it gives them an ace pitcher (ie Smoltz). The question is how will Smoltz handle the move back to the rotation.
  22. Weis seems like a good guy. But I was also liking the Clements possibility.
