  1. Ya, I'm really impressed with the transfer Haluska. He's only getting better and gives the Hawks another good outside scorer with Pierce and Horner and then Brunner and Hansen down low. Plus they have a pretty deep bench. I'm just wondering where Alex is. I was about to make a post saying he's been rather quiet
  2. Remember, Rippaldi wasn't the GM who made the Siro/Wells deal and that deal blew up for both teams. I still say, find me a way to get Vernon Wells and I'll be a happy camper. Or a ton of prospects and flexibility. The only thing I can think of is this is a move set to either follow another move or precede another move. And I fully agree that its nonsense that Hinske and Batista will be coming here for Konerko straight up. That would be garbage.
  3. Guys take a look at HInske's contract. I'd puke if they picked him up. He's gonna get like 5 million plus in in 2006 and 2007. I was over reading on a Blue Jays board and most of them are puzzled at why the Sox would do this. So I'm thinking this is the Jays spin right now. However whoever the radio guy was said he was fairly confident some type of deal would work out. Said both GM's have been talking quite a bit with each other. Still, I'd look for Batista, Rios, and another prospect, imo.
  4. Well if they lose out on Wright since he supposedly failed his physical, then I could very well see the Yanks signing Pavano and picking up Johnson. However, if they sign Wright (meaning it goes through) then I think the Yanks are pretty much done pitching wise and will turn their attention to Beltran.
  5. No doubt about it too, plus Hinske is a defensive liability at the hot corner.
  6. Alright, would the Jays do a Lee and something for Halladay swap? The way I see it Halladay is one of the best pitchers in baseball and is supposed to be 100%. Obviously he's been overworked some by the Jays and if I recall he signed a 4yr 42 million extension sometime last year I think. He has three years left on the extension. 10.5 this season and then two years at 12.75. I got a sneaking suspicion the Jays would consider doing this deal.
  7. Agreed, I'd have no interest in that. Although I must admit, Batista, Hinske and Rios could be intriguing. The only problem is the Sox don't get payroll relief. I'd like to see them get Rios and another very good prospect and then move Lee to first and have Rios in the outfield. Then the Sox save pretty much 8 mill and focus on picking up a darn good middle infielder and Odalis Perez. That deal would give the Sox enough money to do that. Or they could package some guys elsewhere. I'm guessing its more likely that the Sox get one contract like Batista or Hinkse back in the deal though.
  8. Well SOB, then screw this. Either they get Rios and some other stud prospects and payroll relief. In this case i'd only deal Konerko, none of the others. And I'm not implying the Sox hold onto those prospects by the way, I'm implying they utilize them in the push for Hudson or RJ or another pitcher. On the other hand, picking up Halladay, WOWZERS. That be freaking AWESOME.
  9. Well if Hinske produced like he did in his rookie season, fine by me. But he hasn't been too grand since then. I do think he's a solid bat and wouldn't be bad at 1st base if the Sox opted to deal Konerko or Lee their way. But they better get Vernon Wells as well. In fact I think the Jays are just looking to get rid of Hinske. So if the Jays are really that interested, offer Lee for Hinske and Wells. Then the Sox turn around and deal Konerko, trying to get a good pitcher, but if they can't instead get payroll and sign Odalis Perez. Wells fills in Lee's spot and Hinske comes in and plays 1st (not as good as Konerko) but the Sox now have the money to sign Perez and to potentially make a run at a middle infielder (a good one at that).
  10. One question, what is so great about Hinkse? If the Sox got Hinske and Wells that would be another story. Plus it would free up the potential for the Sox to swing the other power hitter in a deal for a pitcher.
  11. I'd pass on both. I think the Sox need to make a splash and land one more very good starter. After that I think I'd rather see Barry Larkin then Alex Gonzalez. Gonzalez doesn't quite have good range and he strikes out way too much for my liking.
  12. This could make a lot of sense. A, I would do a Vernon Wells for Carlos Lee trade STRAIGHT UP. I have no idea why Toronto would, but maybe they hvae soured a bit on Wells. But that would free up payroll. I just don't see them giving up Wells, but I'd be listening very closely if they would. I'm not a big Batista fan, but he's a solid pitcher. Hinske is a solid 3rd baseman. The Jays also have some good catchers or guys with upside the Sox could be interested in.
  13. I wouldn't complain about PK, Garland and Borchard as well as RJ signed for one more season.
  14. Well ya, I'd agree. I think he'd go above and beyond the SOx budget. I think he's the one pitcher that fits this mold. However, I'd be so giddy if the Sox get Huddy or RJ. Wow would that be badass.
  15. Plus in this offer, I'm assuming the Yanks would pick up at least 14 mill, probably more like 16 mill in cash on Vazquez. That means the Sox are going to be saving like 4-6 million on the trade which gives the Sox approximately 10-12 million left on the FA market.
  16. Interesting that the Sox may be the team getting RJ and then moving him to New York. If thats the case you'd have to believe they would not only get a lot of cash and I'm talking in the 16 mill figure (trust me the Yanks will do it) plus a good prospect and a reliever. This may not be a horrible idea. The key is not to give up Lee, imo. Plus Vazquez would be quite affordable at this rate and the Sox will actually free up some payroll to make a couple more moves, maybe even land Renteria or go a smaller root picking up Polanco and Gibbons or someone else to replace the dealt bat.
  17. Stromile Swift or Dalemberg and a guy like Redd or Allen would be really great. I'm a huge Michael Redd fan. Have liked him since his OSU days. That was a good OSU team with Redd and Scoonie Penn.
  18. I'm very leary in dealing McCarthy, but to get Hudson and get him locked up without giving up Garland its doable. But McCarthy and Garland can't be a part of the same package and McCarthy can't be part of any package for Vazquez. Also, I'd even give up Bmac, Anderson, and one of Konerko, etc for Hudson. If it meant keeping Lee I'm all for it. I bet the A's would be rather interested if the Sox could spin Konerko for a prospect and a starting pitcher (just a solid one). Still I hate giving up Bmac, but its a no brainer if your getting Huddy.
  19. No thanks to Mobley. The Bulls don't need guards. They need one really good bigman and some time, thats it. Hinrich, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, etc looks really good to me. However, Ray Allen or Michael Redd would be welcome additions.
  20. Exactly. The one thing I'd love to see is him turn into a passer like Shaq has. But Shaq didn't enter the league with great passing skills, it was developed. If Eddy can do that, look out. 11 points so far in the 3rd quarter. I just don't get why the Bulls don't constantly get him the ball. He should get a touch in the low post almost every posession, imo. Don't be too sure, they are looking for a big time scorer as well as big men and Curry could provide that while AD would be a good role playing big men. Plus they are desperate to move Robinson. I think it could be a move that makes sense for both teams. Its essentially Dalembert and Corver for Curry and AD for Glenn Robinson. Bulls save cash big time and get two guys that should help them. Lose a hell of a scoring threat, but at the same time will now have the money to get a guy max this season.
  21. Just take notes, he's been given the ball down in the paint in the 3rd quarter and has responded big time.
  22. Here's my question. The Dodgers seem to have the best offer according to the stuff I've heard on the radio. That would be Edwin Jackson, Cora, and a minor leaguer (not one of their ace pitching prospects). So lets assume this, Brandon McCarthy, Willie Harris, and Felix Diaz or Arnie Munoz. Or the Sox could offer Bmac, Harris and spin Konerko for some prospects and send one of them towards Oakland. Do not deal Lee. At the same time I must say Hudson would give the Sox one of the best rotations in baseball and it may be near worth it no matter what the price. Assuming they resign him.
  23. You can't look past stats and what could be a potentially awful contract. I don't doubt that he can go back to what he was with the Expos, its more is it due to health injuries or a mental/mechanical flaw.
  24. I just think he's a great scorer. Personally I'd deal him and Ad for Dalembert, Corver and Glenn Robinson. I think the Sixers do it because it gives them a good low post game and the Bulls get two guys that can help them and cap relief. No, I wouldn't let Robinson play a day. Between Dalembert and Chandler the Bulls would have two good defensive bigmen who can run the court and the Bulls already are what I'd describe a quick team. Corver is a hell of a shooter which the Bulls seem to like. I think this works cap wise too.
