  1. This was him assuming. Based on his tone he wasn't told anything. Said I assume I'm playing right but haven't talked to the Sox. Kenny's quotes on ESPN radio early tonight (the national one) specifically mentioned SPod in left. However, he did act as if he had been told some names and sounds like the Sox could have another move up there sleeve. A non pitching related one. They better have a pitcher related one coming, lol. But I don't think you can put much stock into this, I think he's probably heard some names or even more likely the ideas Kenny has in terms of what he'd like to accomplish this offseason, thats about it.
  2. I responded to that email right Chris? I finally got it to work but it just distorted it. Looked cool though minus the distortions. As far asn idea. I'm thinking have a picture of Pos stealing a base, Vizcaino throwing, maybe Hermy and Dye if possible still and then some type of Stealth Mode (thats still got to be an ongoing theme, lol) written over a radar (with a blip in the radar of Perez, Clement...just the names). DOn't ask me if its possible or if its good, I'm horrible when it comes to being creative.
  3. - Said Arizona, Texas, Chicago and I think New York Mets (zoned out on the last one) were interested. Said Kenny had talked to him over the long hall and he wanted to be there. - Liked the Sox philosphy, said he knew Ozzie and says Chicago wants the guys to play hard and thats the type of baseball they want to play. Dye said the team wants to get better defensively. Then went on to say along with.....a few others they may bring in. - Todd Wright said he thought Pos (by the way from now on I'm calling him Spod cause I don't want to call him Pos, could be a bad omen for piece of s***, lol) was going to play CF and then Jermaine said as of now he was going to be playing right field. Said Rowand has good speed and is a good outfielder but isn't sure of there plans. Says maybe he'll play in left field. - Then talked about Beane being against stolen bases. Dye likes the idea of stolen bases though. His theory is that there is a time and a place but as long as you have speed at the top of the lineup you'll score runs. Then talks about his days in KC where he had Johnny Damon and Ray Sanchez and they had 5 guys with 100 RBI's. - Ask him why the A's never won in October. Thinks maybe the pitchers wore down since the A's put so much pressure on them over the regular season. - Says Chicago is one of his favorite cities. He looked at the starting lineup on paper and there pitching and in his mind starting and defense wins and he says there is no doubt they'll be in every game.
  4. They should find a way to televise that segment, lol.
  5. True. So I guess that pretty much washes. I think its still a little more favors the Sox. Thats soley in the argument of Thomas and Dye over not having Thomas and Maggs last time around. I still say Thomas and Dye equal if not a little better then not having Lee. Plus I think the Sox sign a starter in the next couple days. However, I don't count out them trading for a guy, especially if Clement or Perez price tags balloon.
  6. Turning on. Thanks for posting this stuff Kogs
  7. But when Arizona offered up 4yr 45 mill for Troy Glaus things obviously changed. Then you had Benson getting 7 plus long term from the Mets. I pinpoint those two moves to really hurting the FA market. That and a lot of teams have money to spend, but its not the money, its spending it right, and Washington hasn't done it, nor has Arizona. Seattle and Bmore are forcing the issue and Bmore should focus heavily on pitching or Beltran, imo. If I were Seattle, I think Beltre is a stud so that could make some sense. Wouldn't give Sexson or Delgado 10 mill. First off I wouldn't pay any first baseman in baseball 10 mill other then Thome. Second of all I don't give it to two guys coming off subpar seasons. Although Delgado has a rather proven track-record. Sexson doesn't have as much of one. And his injury forced him out of the entire season.
  8. Ozzie is saying June, but he's no the doc. Its probably not a bad guess though, you never know. Its better guessing late than early. Although I think he'll be back sooner.
  9. Two middle relievers and Freddy is healthy. And as much as I dislike Contreras he is going to have an offseason with his family here and he has good stuff. And the two setupmen make a HUGE difference. Plus the Sox are a better defensive ball club. Oh ya, did i mention the Twins lose Koskie and probably Jacque Jones. Not to mention Kubel will be out most of the year. Sox didn't have Maggs and Frank then anyway...now they'll have Frank and Dye.
  10. Thats according to Ozzie. Schneider says he's on track and should be near ready by the start of the season. So I'm thinking he's back by May 1st.
  11. Holy s***. I can't believe people are offering that much for Sexson. But Delgado is crazy. I have a bad read on this market, but I know what I think they are worth and if I were a GM I'd stay so far away from those deals. HMMMMM, Sexson or Delgado or spending another 2-3 million a year on Beltran. Jesus teams are desperate. This has been a horrible offseason with very few guys signing market values. Luckily I think the Sox made two good signings and I hope Odalis Perez is the next one.
  12. Adkins won't be on the roster, imo. He may be somewhere else though. I also doubt Valdez will be on there (I think they sign someone, but if they don't, it will be Valdez). At the same time I think the Sox will carry one more outfielder (Timo). Steve Phillips is on ESPN News right now. Don't know if this is a replay or not though.
  13. I do that sometimes. I usually show people what i want to show them or at least try. I know sometimes I get grins when I have a good hand (when someone stares at my eyes) so to offset it I'll do it every once in a while when I have crap and sometimes flat fake it. I think he's done a good job. We can read between the lines sometimes, but we have all listened to him and his comments for a long time. The rest of baseball hasn't.
  14. I agree. I think right now the Sox have a team better built to beat the Twins. And I think some more moves are still to come which really make the club better. Can't speak for the other teams in the division though. Cleveland could continue to excel or see a bump in the road and its yet to be seen who all the Tigers get.
  15. Remember, he came to the Brewers about this, which leads you to think or at least hope he has other plans in mind. I know I have many ideas in my mind from where he can go from here. And most of them seem like they'll really have this team better prepared to win now and over the long haul. I think he could of gotten a little more, but assuming he spends the money, I think we may see Kenny up for an executive of the year award. He's overhauling this team to be very balanced. Speed, power, still some offense, and a fantastic pitching staff. But the last part is a wait and see. I do think they need to fill the hole behind the plate and in the rotation. Those two must be filled, imo. I'm not too concerned about Willie although Polanco or Castillo or someone else would really look nice.
  16. Who said he expects 16 mill a year? (your referring to Delgado right???) I thought he'd get something between 6-8 mill a year.
  17. He's the only one worthwhile, imo. Unless they go the trade route. Toby Hall is one that comes to mind but he's not what I'd consider a clear cut upgrade.
  18. And the Sox have 10 mill free, which means if its 15 your at 80 mill payroll. But if they negotiate down somehow or backend a deal or two, thats another story. Or like I said move Everett for someone who has a little bit of a contract. You save two mill or so.
  19. How do the prospects get the Sox a first baseman. I think you can get Choi from LA or Nick Johnson from Washington, but that doesn't give you a middle of the order bat and thats what the Sox would lack. I'd probably use Rowand in the 3 hole, Frank in the 4 hole and Dye in the 5 hole and then go to Gload or whomever the first baseman was. Then you get Crede, Uribe, etc. If Frank wasn't coming off an injury and if Rowand had one more year where he had proven himself I'd be a lot more open to that idea. I mean if they can find a way to stick Huff at 1st, fine by me, lol. But if they did get Perez and some valuable playrers it could make some sense.
  20. Konerko is due to make 9 mill. Castillo signed a 3 yr 15.5 mill deal with a vesting option for the 4th year due on plate appearances which would up the payroll to 21.5 million. I can't find the specifics, but I'm going to assume he makes 5.5 million. So the deal would save the Sox 3.5 million. That would, under a 75 mill payroll, give the White Sox 12.5 million (give or take a mill) to get a starting pitcher, decide on a first baseman, and fill the catchers void. You figure you can get Odalis Perez at 6 mill (maybe even 5.75), Pyrz at 4 mill. That gives you 10 million taken up, and 2.5 million left. I don't think that gets you the power hitting first baseman you would necessarily want. It would get you Gibbons, but definately not Delgado. I just think they'd need that one big bat. But I would like that top of the order.
  21. A top of the order of Castillo/Pos would have a boatload of speed plus it moves Arow down in the lineup. Sox save a little cash, but they'd need to pick up a power bat for the middle of the lineup, imo. That deal isn't fair (Konerko for Castillo) but if the Sox got a good prospect or something else then it would make some sense. Sox would still need to find a starting pitcher, power hitting first baseman (I guess it could be Gload) and then Pyrz.
  22. I tend to agree. They could easily put together those 3 guys with a payroll between 76-80 million. IF they could find a way to move Everett for maybe a mill or two in savings they could work it out too.
  23. Couldn't agree more. Kenny's quotes on defense specifically mentioned the upgrade of Pos' range in LF. I do agree, we'll see some really good range in LF and Lee never had anything but a below average arm (was better this season then any other season though) so its not like there is a loss there.
  24. The city. I just remember like an ESPN piece or something and I thought Delgado said he hated Chicago or something like that. Could be wrong though. I do think he'd be an amazing offensive acquisition. Average, MONSTER POWER, OBP, left handed bat. I will stick to saying I have no problem playing Gload, but with all the other moves made I just don't know if there is a starting spot for him. If they dealt Konerko I'd think they'd need to pick up a power bat. I would DH him just as much as I would Everett, unless Everett came to camp in amazing shape. Gload was fabulous last season for the Sox. Did everything they asked him to do.
