  1. I was working on an article on that same subject when you posted that, lol.
  2. Don't worry when the time comes I'll post the other link. But this upgrade is going to go without a hickup.
  3. White Sox Add Six to the 40 Man Roster By Jason Gage FutureSox.com November 19, 2004 The Chicago White Sox purchased the contracts of six minor league players. Pitchers Kris Honel, Sean Tracey, Matt Smith, and Paulino Reynoso were added to the 40 man roster while infielders Casey Rogowki and Pedro Lopez were also added. The moves bring the 40 man roster to 38...MORE
  4. Thats fine, cause to be honest, if Ozzie Guillen was in charge of player personell I think we'd have a team with 9 ozzie's in the field and it would be the worse offensive team in Major Leauge history. I give Ozzie credit for motivating young players at times, but as far as his evaluation skills goes, I think very little of him. I think he knows defense, hard play, and some of the nuances, but in terms of talent and whether a player is good or not, I think he tends to be all over the place. I've long said I think Harris can do it and I firmly believe Ozzie did a s***ty job managing him this season.
  5. The more I think of it, I think Mario is kind of right. Like I've said I'd rather give them Munoz or Diaz, I feel more comfortable giving up one of them then I do Anderson cause I think he's gonna be a good one, although right now IT hink the Sox have him over-rated in terms of readiness. He had a hot streak in Bham, but in general I think some more time in AA would do wonders for him. I don't think he's as advanced as some of the reports say he is. As far as the deal though, I got a feeling Anderson would be the one to go, but I do expect Kenny to get someone back and I'd have to think either Brito or Koyie Hill to be a part of the deal. I'd lean on Brito since it seems like the Dbacks have good size expectations on Hill. Only thing I know about Brito is that Mark Grace would gush over this guy during telecasts but it seemed that the Dbacks kind of gave up on him.
  6. Dan, we don't agree too often with both of us having our quirks, but I think you pretty much are dead on with this list. I could see Lumsden being up ahead of Munoz, but logically Munoz has better production to this point. The Sox didnt' see the real Lumsden till the very end of the season when he got over a dead arm period. He's supposed to have electric stuff and is a gutsy pitcher. Nice guy too. Although personally I would have Sean Tracey ranked right around 7th.
  7. BA always looks at "ceiling" instead of whose actually the best prospect. Its why they hype and fail with so many guys. Its ridiculous how whne a guy throws one 98 MPH that they then report that he "regulary" throws 98. They still are the best their is at covering minors as a whole though, but I think they could be a hell of a lot better. And your right, they definately grade down long time minor league guys even though someone like Rogo, to me, is considered a prospect. I wouldn't rank him top 10 though.
  8. To be honest, two years ago I'd of b****ed up a storm about this, but this is just general stuff. I have no problem with this, it is life. I still think Yan may pan out to something, but I have my doubts. If he didn't have his speed I'd think nothing of the fact. The Wing thing still irks me though. God that pisses me off.
  9. Like I've mentioned a few times. He could be very similar to the Tom Gordon pickup.
  10. Ya, makes sense to me. Cubs have a wide open closers spot, Sox have Shingo until they sign a big name closer or Shingo fails.
  11. I'd give him a contract. If he's really that desperate then hell ya.
  12. Ya, I picked up on that later in the thread. I was reading through the thread one page at a time replying. My bad.
  13. That may be the funniest thing Mike North has ever said.
  14. If he's signing with the Jays he isn't going to be getting a big offer. I think Clement is one of the better options out their if the Sox went the FA route.
  15. I don't know if anyone went to that message board, but its based on some poster claiming it. I didn't see an actual source anywhere. Not blaming you MaggsMaggs, just saying I don't know if I'd think too much of this so called offer. As far as Renteria goes, just say no, he isn't worth anything near the type of money he's seaking.
  16. First off, I can give you some credit in terms of Elo, I think that was kind of pulling a rabbit out of a hat type deal. But Marte has been one of the best setup men in baseball the past couple years, even with his down year this past season. When has he been given the opp to be teh closer of the future. The Sox have had Foulke, Gordon, and Koch around and hten Shingo stepped in and was brilliant. As far as Olivo goes, he along with Reed were turned into Freddy Garcia whose one of the better pitchers in the AL and still has a lot of upside potential, imo.
  17. Well their are some talks of a Soriano for Reyes deal but the economics of it don't work out. However, if Texas took on a contract from New York I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a deal go down.
  18. Technically speaking I have no doubt the Sox could of worked out a deal with the Dodgers unloading Maggs for prospects, Edwin Jackson and one other (just not Jackson and Miller) like many of us wanted on the board last year. SO they could of made the deal without adding payroll, but I don't think anyone figured Vladdy would end up signing for 15 mill and he didn't want to play in a big city, thats why he picked Anaheim. He knew their infield coach and was so happy to come to Anaheim. The question was whether they'd make the offer or not and finally they did. The Dodgers thought they had him signed and were kind of shell shocked when he ended up in Anaheim.
  19. Dodgers will not deal Itzuris. If they do they are stupid cause he's an awesome defensive shortstop and a developing offensive player. Very young too, meaning he's incredibly affordable. Angels will only look for a big name middle infielder for whatever reason. Personally I think they are just find. Then again I see no reason for them to piss away money on Jason Varitek when its obvious they need pitching.
  20. And then the sox laughed back when they got Damaso Marte and Ruddy Yan for Matt Guerrier.
  21. In some circles I think Kenny's name would be bantered about as one of the better gm's in baseball. I know many here would laugh at this notion, but he's done a pretty good job with limited resources. This is his key season though and he knows it and I expect RJ wearing a southsiders uniform this season.
  22. But I do think he would of been better suited targeting Corey Koskie at 3rd base and spending a little less on the shortstop position.
  23. This move is the sign that the Angels have a good feeling they can land Beltran. In fact, you may see them sign him pretty quickly. They may be willing to go 7 to 8 years at 15 million per. They have said they won't offer him more then 15 on a per year basis though. By the way I shouldn't of spoke so quickly, Rivera had pretty good stats and maybe he wasn't just a highly touted Yanks prospect (I never think much of highly touted Yanks prospects). Hit over .300 with 300 plus ab's.
  24. Did he somehow deal Jason Bay to the Padres??? Cause Bay was given to the Pirates via San Diego in the Brian Giles deal along with Oliver Perez and another player (a solid infielder if I recall).
