  1. No, I happen to think the Bears (with Urlacher on the field) have the best defense in the NFC. With Thomas Jones back they have a productive running back and a qb that should improve. Plus they are in a lousy conference and come playoff time, defense can do a lot of things. I think their are reasons to look at the Bears, but with Urlacher down its going to be tough, plus they have a hard schedule.
  2. Well, Washington just signed their shortstop so I find it hard to believe they will dish out much for Barry Larkin. I still say he'd be a nice pickup as a backup. Let him play a couple times a week. He's a leader, very productive offensively, and would be a cheap effective pickup, imo.
  3. They said Bowden commented on the signing already with ESPN, although who knows. All I know is I'm so freaking happy the Sox didn't sign Guzman to that type of deal.
  4. Right now I'd lean towards the Bears if Krenzel made some improvements, but with Urlacher out it would be tough. Of the teams on that list I'd say Packers or Falcons.
  5. ESPN news hasn't said yet, so I'm assuming its an undiclosed amount as of this point.
  6. It was funny, when the guy announced the dollar figures on ESPN News he essentially started laughing and was like wow thats a lot of money to give Christian Guzman. Then he saw Castilla's road splits and was laughing even more, lol. STUPID MOVES, really stupid moves. Well Vinny may not be all that bad, if in fact he is being paid relatively cheap.
  7. 4 yrs, 16.8 million dollars :puke WOW, thats overpaying.
  8. Ya I'm pretty happy too, unless of course it was a 4 yr 8 mill deal cause in thats case I'd of been all for it, lol. I'm assuming ESPN News will have Gammons or someone on pretty quickly.
  9. Pedro is meeting with the Yankees today. Well technically he's meeting with Georgie Porgie, not with Cashman.
  10. He signed a 4 year deal and Castilla signed a 2 year deal. This is according to Peter Gammons.
  11. Hell yes. I've long said screw shortstop, lets sign Percy at 2 yr 10 mill (if thats what the Sox offered Omar). I think Percy would think long and hard about that offer, especially if the Sox kicked in an option for the 3rd year.
  12. No Guzman has shown he can hit for a higher average, but other then that Willie is superior in terms of OBP and of course his price is a hell of a lot better. But I completely agree with you. I sure as hell hope this talk is insidesr thinking Kenny is going to force shortstop and that in fact Kenny has already turned to look into other areas (thats what I'm hoping for at least).
  13. According to ESPN 1000: Sammy Sosa is willing to waive his option year (that is in the contract to kick in if he's traded) and MLB isn't likely to object to him agreeing to this to help lead to a trade elsewhere. ESPN Radio quoted the New York Daily news for this.
  14. Is he just arbitration eligible? Cause I thought I read at one point that Cleveland wasn't expecting Ronnie Belliard to be with them next year. I thought at one point they were rumored to potentially non tender him, but thats just off memory so I am probably wrong, lol.
  15. Ya, 5 players; 2 pitchers, 2 hitters and then one wild card.
  16. Gammons was just on ESPN News: - AL Leiter is a free agent and said he may go back to the Mets, but not as likely - Detroit may up their payroll to as much as 70/75 million for next year (Koskie, Percival, Lowe, Clement) - Angels have 40/45 million to spend. Won't give Beltran more per year then they did Vladdy (15 mill per); Angels may be willing to give Varitek that 4th year and then Molina would be moved.
  17. Of course the AP had a story and felt it was the Sox that were going to sign him today or tomorrow. We shall see.
  18. Way to go Vladdy, you earned it
  19. The Bears seem to think it will be more along the lines of 4 weeks, but we shall see.
  20. Way retarded. He should be able to do what he wants to as long as he's getting the job done. Listening to music doesn't hurt anyone.
  21. This brings up a good point. 16 mill on RJ is it really better then signing a FA and then trading Konerko (who was gonna be dealt for RJ and Garland) for a young ace like Mulder/Hudson, etc. I sure as hell would be excited.
  22. I disagree, a healthy Danny Wright is potentially a very very good reliever. Plus Wright is probably one of the best character guys the Sox have. He has an AWESOME attitude.
  23. Thats probably something none of us have thought of but could be a possibility if Uribe/Harris and whoever else is at the middle infield are all producing and EVerett is out of shape and Borchard is still whiffing up a storm. Cheat, I should add, I think the Sox could acquire Ray for not too much, get cahs paid by the Giants and therefor be paying him less then 6 mill. If the Sox want to sign Polanco at 4 mill a year for 2 or 3 years, I'd live, but 3 yr 18 million (i'd PUKE). Of course I'd be even more pissed with Guzman at 2 yr 10 or 3 yr 15 million. I just don't see why everyone is saying the Sox need a shortstop, THEY Don't. What the Sox need is a top of the order guy that can do the little things. Omar Vizquel was that so it made sense, especially since it meant Uribe could be a do it all guy. None of the other shortstops on the market fit that bill, except Nomar, who would be a nice upgrade over Jose (but its unlikely he comes to the Sox), therefor they should put their focus elsewhere. No one is going to tell me the Sox couldn't get Kendall, fill another hole, and not get the Pirates to make it where he would cost 5 or 6 million a year. Imo, Jason Kendall >>>>>> Guzman or Polanco; Sign EY or Larkin as a platoon type player in the middle infield and its all good. Obviously EY would be the easier signing. And we all know Uribe/Harris is a very very good defensive middle infield. The Sox need to focus on finding that OBP (top of the order guy) guy, not finding a shortstop.

Soley because other teams can dump their ridiculous contracts on the cubs or at least thats what they are thinking.
  25. Ya they are. Sadly I'll admit I watch One Tree Hill when I see it on. Since I'm working on studying for two tests and working on a 15 minute presentation I got this week I was around and caught tonights episode. The girls are way hot.
