  1. I've been to the Twinkie dome once. The Twins definately need a new stadium. Sounds like fun time JD and Chisoxy. Plus its got to be even better considering the Sox took 3 out of 4. I hope I am as lucky when the Sox come to Anaheim in September. Its been so long since I've seen the SOx do good (Minus that 17-1 game or whatever it was where Buehrle destroyed Washburn). Of course I also saw Cotts get destroyed in his major league debut by thte ANgels. Hopefully this year the west coast slide will end.
  2. Not a problem. I just sent you and Steff each a PM
  3. This post will now be closed and moved to the Sports Bar.
  4. I cleaned this thread up a bit, hope no one takes offense
  5. I like upper deck seats depending on where your sitting. If your sitting somewhere in the first few rows and are close to behind home plate, I think you've found some of the best seats in the house.
  6. Holy s***, whiffle ball league. If I were in Chitown I'd so be in on that. I can't wait to get into some whiffle ball games this summer with my buddies
  7. Welcome aboard MDub...its good to have you here
  8. Brando, you should be glad to hear that it will be a lot easier to multi quote in a few weeks. The new version of the board has been delayed, but I think the final will be out relatively soon and then multi quoting will be possible without all that manual labor
  9. THe quote button is in the area of buttons on the top of the post. Where you can change the color of the writing or what not.
  10. Heres a question: Would you guys do a Konerko, Diaz, and mid level prospect (somewhere from Ruddy Yan to a Thomas Brice) for Freddy Garcia? And do you think the Mariners would accept that deal? To me it would give the Mariners a bat in Konerko (although what they do with Olerud I have no idea), a good starting prospect in Diaz (I'd rather give them Rauch if the Sox could sell him on all his former hype) and then a guy like Yan or Brice who could help the Mariners in a few years. I know I'd do the deal. Then I'd stick Gload at 1st and see what he can do. If he struggles the Sox can maybe use Borchard or they could go along the lines of picking up a 1st baseman. It shouldn't be too hard to pick up a 1st baseman or someone that could produce offensively and play 1st at the deadline.
  11. Lol, I think everyone sooner or later figures out how lazy I really am
  12. Personally I'd rather move Konerko then Lee. I also know their are some that don't want to move either Konerko or Lee. My only thought is the Sox need to add another pitcher, preferably a good one and to do so they will have to add payroll. Unfortunately the Sox don't generate the revenue to add payroll so they will have to give up some payroll in order to take on the new contract. The only two contracts that I think could be moved are Lee and Konerko and both would fit in with the Mariners. I guess the Sox could move Magglio if they wanted, but its pretty hard to trade your best player when trying to improve your ball club, even if he may leave this offseason. Its quite obvious what the two biggest concenrs with this club are. 1. Finding another starter 2. Dominate Right handed lineup. Moving Konerko or Lee opens up a slot for a left handed bat. The question is whether or not Gload can fill that need or if the Sox would then have to make a 2nd trade to get that bat. For that reason moving Konerko or Lee could result in the Sox getting a pitcher and then making another move. All I know is I got an idea that Kenny won't be sitting pat and when he's on the move he doesn't look to get a mediocre guy, he tries to make a splash.
  13. I agree with Badger. I've said numerous times this site is great because of the posters that post here. Whether this site ever gets media love or not doesn't really concern me. The fact that every day more and more damn good Sox fans come here to join in discussions with some of the most knowledgeable Sox fans is good enough for me
  14. Well, 1st off, if the Sox are giving a package of Lee, Honel and Munoz, they aught to be getting Garcia and Piniero. Their isn't a chance in hell that the Sox would be including either of Munoz or Honel with Lee for Garcia. Garcia has pitched very well, but he doesn't have that much value. Now could someone like Borchard, Diaz, Rauch make sense for the Mariners along with Lee now thats a possibility. But anything more then that and the Mariners aren't going to unload Garcia to anyone. Also, I think Sox fans undervalue Lee. Everything I read this offseason said that their were tons of phone calls and teams wanting to acquire Lee and he has quite a bit of trade value. In fact, some people within the media speculated that Lee could of had as much value as Maggs because his contract is more affordable. Munoz is one guy I Wouldn't trade though. I'd deal Honel well before I'd give up Munoz.
  15. Yep, I still have a few copies of that laying around . Hell, I completely forgot all about it, haha. I know thats when Steff stopped by the site for one of the first times. I happened to make one anti cub remark during my whole long talk with the guy who wrote the article and that was one of the things that went into my short quote. But ya, I said JR needs to get off his butt and open his wallet. About two weeks later Colon was acquired . If he made it to the series, I'd of expected to throw out of the 1st pitch
  16. That means me, me, and only me And let me say, I've read through somethings in the database just cause I was looking around. I went through one posters PM's because they asked me to and it was the biggest most impossible pain in the ass ever. I couldn't even figure out how to do it and it doesn't even make any sense. So in short, we never ever ever look at your pm's. The only time we'd even think about looking is if it was by some sort of request because someone was abusing them or something. Even then, I got to be honest, I wouldn't spend the time it took to look at the PM's. None of the database crap makes any sense.
  17. I do the exact same thing. I'm hoping it will go on sale and then I'm definately going to pick it up. Outstanding freaking series. Kind of cool thats its on the history channel now.
  18. Soxtalk gets more of its pub from its members calling in and giving shout outs. Although I know at least a few members of the media are familiar with the site. Back in its day SoxNet had some shout outs by the media.
  19. CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS PRESS RELEASE FORT MILL, SC -- Charlotte Knights outfielder Joe Borchard was named the International League Batter-of-the-Week today. Over his last seven games Borchard is hitting .452 (14/31) with five home runs and 18 RBI. Yesterday he hit three home runs (two in one inning) and had six RBI. It is just the fifth time since Charlotte joined the IL in 1993 that a Knights’ player hit three home runs in one game. He is the first Knights player to hit three home runs in a game since Anthony Sanders hit three at Durham on 5/26 last season. Borchard’s 14 total bases (2B, 3-HR) yesterday are the most by a Knights player since Creighton Gubanich had 14 total bases (2B, 3-HR) in a game on 8/28/01 at Norfolk. He is just the 19th player in IL history to hit two home runs in one inning and is the first Charlotte Knight player to do so. Borchard entered the season rated as the #5 Prospect in the Chicago organization as selected by Baseball America. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a side note, Nanita was also named player of the week in his league as well.
  20. Nanita was named player of the week too. The odd thing is he really had two games this entire week though.
  21. I think it refers to Borchard hitting a light tower when he was in college or something and then he got the nickname light tower power.
  22. I don't think he was implying dealing Cotts. He was rather saying he wants Cotts in the bullpen for the year and then move him into the rotation. I'm assuming the Sox wouldn't be giving up much anything for Kim, considering he doesn't have any trade value and he has a big time contract.
