Why they went after Krenzel...I have no clue.

But Cabrerra had 3 seasons of minor league baseball under his belt, including 68 games at double A where he was just clobbering the ball.

Happy Bday everyone :headang And iggy, I hope your enjoying the Bears draft

Lets keep this thread clean.

I like the sound of that linebacker. Thats some serious speed. He's a bit undersized but is very strong and 4.43 type speed from the outside is pretty nice if you ask me. He may get a good amount of playing time.

When the Sox made that trade, I absolutely crapped my pants and wrote an article calling Williams an idiot (and we all know I'm a Williams backer, lol). But he proved me wrong. The problem I had with the deal was that Marte was going to be placed on waivers so I didn't think the Sox had to give up an 18 game winner for him.

He can play any outfield position, although he's more of a left fielder when compared to the other prospects. The guy has good power potential as he was the college home run leader last season. King really struggled out of the gate last season and then caught fire. He doesn't have huge size or anything, but has good pop. I think with him its still kind of a wait and see whether he'll be able to hit for power without the aluminum bat, but he is a quality player who kind of gets overlooked (so does Thomas Brice) because of all the talented outfielders in the system.

Will Poole and Michael the Burner Turner in the 4th...then an OLB in the 5th and Josh Harris sometime late (Although I doubt it happens), maybe Lorenzen if he is still their in the 7th.

Welcome aboard Me, I don't know how or why exactly. I always had a fascination with Chicago sports teams when I was a kid. I grew up watching the Sox and Cubs on WGN. My mom was from Chicago and well, for whatever reason I decided since i could see the games on tv and I just didn't want to root for the Dodgers (my dads team...its funner when we can bash each others teams, lol) so I went with the Sox and Cubs. Up until recently I liked both, but not anymore...its all about the Southsiders Been following them a long long time now and have been seeing their games when their in Anaheim for years.

Great Article Dan, although I'm gonna disagree with you on McCarthy. I think between a month and midseason he'll be in Winston Salem. He may be young, but he's very good and he has good control, which means you can push him easier. I also think that Winston's rotation is awful, so they are going to want to at least bring a few reinforcements their. Once that happens, i Think you'll see Fabio Castro or Orionny, maybe even both, enter the Intimidators rotation. Another possibilility of joining the rotation is one of my favorites Deininger, once he comes off the DL. The Intimidators have a lot of guys in the pen that will make good starters, imo, so I think once Rodriguez and Haigwood get healthy (well back into their groove), you'll see them have a shot at going up and then McCarthy as well. I think Miller is showing that he's still very raw and that he'll be spending a while in Kanny. The dissapointing thing is he's repeating, so you'd like to see him step up his game in his 2nd season in Kanny.

LMAO Cali. He's showing some serious power potential though. I didn't think Young would develop it this soon. He's got a ton to work on, but I'm still happy with what I've seen, even though some of his offensive numbers are sub par. Great to see Haigwood roll. He had a good start now and then you have Rodriguez looking good and McCarthy being himself. Thats 3 good starters, now if Miller and Company can also step it up things will be better. Count me in the group that thinks Miller is still really raw and potentially overhyped. He's got good stuff though.

If I recall, Sweeney struggled out of the gate in short season last year and then caught fire. I'm not too concerned about Ryan. The only thing that would concern me is an injury or a loss of confidence. Other then that, Sweeney has a great swing and from everything I've seen and heard a resilient attitude. The kid is going to be good. Those that said he would be up here at the end of the season were wrong, but thats not a knock on Sweeney. Its just the fact the Sox have a full outfield and guys like Reed and Borchard will get the chance before him, plus the Sox are in a position where they are at least hoping they will be in a playoff chase and calling up a 19 year old in the heat of the race, would not be a wise move, imo. After 14 days, I'm not too concerned...if its a month and a half from now, then their is something to be concerned with. Let him get his reads and then see how he makes his adjustments...that will be the key. I feel the same way for Nanita and Anderson. Those two players were college ball players and should be capable of making the tough jump to high a ball. It could be rough as they adjust and I think Anderson is still being partially bothered by his wrist. I feel Anderson is more raw then Sweeney (even though he's older) but he'll be fine. In regards to Nanita, I'm not sure. Last year Edgar Valera came into the season after hitting the hell out of the ball the previous year down in short season. It turned out he creamed the ball because he was facing a lot of very young and raw pitchers. When he moved up he was shown as a college hitter who had a ton of experience and was able to bash young pitchers. He ended up retiring and that was that. Not saying that is what is going to happen to Nanita, but he was playing at a lower level then the talent he was playing in college (or at least a similar level). Despite that, I like Nanita and think he's one of the better leadoff prospects in the system. He's definately less raw then Young, although I'm super high on Young. Young's struggling, but I seriously see Vernon Wells potential out of him.

Sounds like you have some spyware on your computer. I'd download spybot search and destroy and remove the spyware. That will probably clear it up. www.download.com and then type in spybot search and destroy. Someone else may have a better suggestion though, but it sounds like spyware to me.

This was a good move. I figured it would happen. Gonzo had plenty of time in Kanny and now Gray and Valido can play every day.

Intimidators Make a Flurry of Moves By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com Earlier in the day, Intimidators shortstop Andy Gonzalez, was promoted to Winston Salem. Cory Haggerty has been promoted from extended spring training to replace him. Haggerty, 22, was drafted in the 18th round of the 2003 amateur draft out of Cortland State College. Haggerty spent last season in Great Falls where he hit .244 with 1 HR and 16 RBI. He drew 25 BB while striking out 40 times. Haggerty will take over Antoin Gray's position as the backup infielder. Gray will become the starting second baseman, while Valido will be the starting shortstop. The White Sox also promoted right handed pitcher Orionny Lopez to Kannapolis from extended spring training. Lopez replaces pitcher Adam Larson, who was placed on the disabled list earlier today. Lopez is one of the Sox top pitching prospects and spent last season dominating Great Falls. He went 5-3 with a 2.37 ERA, giving up 38 hits in 49.1 innings of work, while striking out 53. To finish off a flurry of moves, the Sox signed first baseman Leo Dagile and sent him to Kannapolis. First baseman Chris Kelly was sent to extended spring training to make room for Dagile. Kelly was a 6th round pick in the 2003 draft, out of the University of Pepperdine.

Sox Sign Andres Torres; Send Him to Charlotte By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com The White Sox signed former Detroit outfielder Andres Torres to a minor league contract today. Torres will be sent to Charlotte. It is unclear who will be removed from the Knights roster to make room for Torres. Torres, 26, spent part of the 2002, 2003, and 2004 season with the Tigers. This season he played in 3 games with the Tigers and failed to get a hit. In 2003 he played 59 games with the big league club and hit .220 with 1 HR and 9 RBI. Torres is a career .262 hitter in the minor leagues with 13 HR, 169 RBI, and 207 stolen bases. Torres was originally a 35th round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Charlotte must have another move coming, maybe Wunsch is about to be dealt, because Nicholson replaced Rivera who was claimed when the Sox tried to remove him from the 40 man roster.

Oakland A's Claim Michael Rivera By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com The Oakland A's claimed Michael Rivera on waivers on Friday. Rivera joined the Sox in June of 2003, after they claimed him from the Padres. With the Knights, he hit .310 with 12 HR, and 52 RBI. Rivera, 27, was designated for assignment by the A's. Rivera was made available when the Sox dropped him from the 40 man roster. With Rivera leaving Charlotte, the Knights called up infielder Tommy Nicholson from Winston Salem. Ryan Hankins will likely replace Rivera at first base.

It was a blast. Had a ton to drink all day. Actually, feel pretty good today considering. Didn't go to school though, woke up and was like screw this and went back to sleep. Drank lots of water to make sure I didn't have a hangover when I woke up...and it worked perfectly

Thats a pretty big mistake for a large newspaper.

Andy Gonzalez Promoted to Winston Salem By Jason Gage April 23, 2004 FutureSox.com Shortstop prospect Andy Gonzalez was promoted to Winston Salem earlier today to replace Tommy Nicholson's roster spot. Nicholson was promoted to Charlotte earlier in the day. Gonzalez was once the best shortstop prospect in the organization, but has lost that status by with the emergence of Robert Valido. Gonzalez was having a strong season in Kannapolis batting .271 with 1 HR, and 3 RBI. Nicholson played 19 games with the Knights and hit .140. Nicholson was hitting .176 for the Warthogs. The Skinny: Gonzalez will likely be the starting shortstop in Winston Salem. His arrival will probably push current starter, Pedro Lopez, back to his normal position second base. This move will also make Robert Valido the full time shortstop in Kannapolis. Valido has been platooning with Gonzalez at shortstop and second base. Antoin Gray will become the starting second baseman.
