Bears FA thread
According to Pete Brisco from CBS sportsline, the Chiefs will be matching the offer. He said the Chiefs GM has said they will do whatever it takes to get him in and they plan on doing that. If Tait goes elsewhere, then you can bet the Bear sign Salaam and Sapp assuing both aren't off the market. And I think if Tait signs, you'll see one of the two come to Chicago. This could also be a ploy by the Chiefs gm to get a draft pick.

See Ya in Hell, Martha!
I truly don't think there is a chance in hell that she is going to spend much less a day in jail. I also must say, that if anyone one of us had stock and our broker called us and said it was going to take a s***...we'd immediately sell. What she did wrong was lie and go all about covering up. This has already cost here about 800 million dollars. Here shares in her company alone were valued at around 1.2 billion before all these precedings. Now the same shares are worth about 200 million. Not saying thats a lot of money, but that is a hell of a lot to lose. Plus I think her stocks frozen right now. So it may continue to crash because if I understand insider trading charges correctly, it basically means she can't sit on her own board and a lot of the time I think it means you can't own stock anymore (Could be wrong on that, but thats what I remember). Although those more severe charges could of been for the insider trading charge that was dropped and that this is a more minor one. Am I wrong, I heard on the news that the amount of shares she sold (Imclone) were valued at like 60,000-80,000. If so, I think we all have to look and see how small potatoes this is. Hell, 60-80k isn't even a lot to sell for a middle class person, if they are in the market, let alone for someone who has a few hundred million invested.

Gasoline Surging to new High Prices
I don't think thats going to happen. Bush has a pretty minimal control on gas prices. He can try and pressure OPEC to create more, open some of our reserves or do a few other things I guess. The main thing is, the gouging that mobil and other companies are doing has to go down. I think Gas prices will fall, like they usually do (I sure as hell hope they do) sometime in the next two months, but its more of a cycle. They try to gouge, we start b****ing, slowly they go back down a bit (But not as low as they were)....then it happens all over again.

Weekly League's Draft
Just want to remind everyone. Steff....I'm not sure when I'm going to get home from work this morning, so I want to post instructions for you here. I'll also PM you the instructions for how to do it. This should also help anyone else that hasn't done a live draft on yahoo or a live draft in general. What you do is go to your yahoo league page. If you don't know how to get there, just go to www.yahoo.com, click on sports, then click on the fantasy button on the top right. Make sure your logged in and then your team will show up on the middle of the right hand side. Just click the league name. Once your in the league page. You'll see on the very top (there is like a yellow/gold background color) that it says the draft is so many hours away. Click on the test your system button. This will make sure you have the proper plugins. About 15 minutes before the draft, in that same area (I'm pretty sure on this) a button will come up with the live draft link and we'll just click the button and go in there. The draft order will be automatically generated in half an hour. I'll be on aim on Bullsback just before the start of the draft, so if anyone has any trouble they can pm me. And once were in the draft I'm pretty sure there is like a chat feature, so we can all shoot the bull Let me also add....Centerfield is a MANDATORY POSITION You need to have 2 OF, and 1 CF.

Gasoline Surging to new High Prices
San Diego has some really exorbitant gas prices. I was in downtown a few weeks ago and when we were leaving we stopped at a station and it was like 2.35. Nonetheless, we risked running out of gas and found a cheaper station

Gasoline Surging to new High Prices
I put on about 22,000 miles a year. Luckily my car gets about 26-30 MPG, but still, prices are getting pretty ridiculous. Out here in SoCal almost every station is about 2.20. There are a few as low as 2.10, but thats as low as I've seen. Supposedly the problem in California is how in the winter to summer we use different fuel for efficiency. I think other states use it, but California is a little stricter. Anyway, OPEC did say if prices would stay up for the next week to two, that they would increase supply. I should add, that gas prices haven't really went up, its oil refiners like mobil, etc jacking up their prices. On top of this California is about to add an 8 cent increase per gallon on the gas tax. I wouldn't have a problem with this, but they have already started stealing money from the gas tax and putting it into other areas. The gas tax should be soley for building new roads. Its probably the fairest tax out there. Its a flat tax system where the more you drive the more you pay towards the roads. So if you don't drive much, you dont' pay for much of the roads. You do drive a lot, then you pay for the newer roads. If I get the job I want to out of college, then I'll likely not have to drive much. All the major accounting firms are within 10 minutes of where I live (driving distance) which would be really sweet

Bears FA thread
Supposedly the Chiefs GM a few days ago said they would resign Tait at basically all costs, so I wouldn't count it as a guarantee. Players usually are willing to restructure when they know it could bring back a probowler.

White Sox vs. Rockies (3/5/2004)
Yep, the cutter and your right, Cotts is also throwing the cutter now. The Sox also had Loaiza focus much more on throwing his changeup last season. The Sox taught Cotts the cutter in the AFL this year.

Bears FA thread
I wouldn't be at all shocked if the Bears found a way to move up or even pick up a 2nd draft pick, somehow working their way up to getting Andrews or even better...Gallery.

Bears FA thread
All parties basically have said RT. I think they may address LT in the draft or another signing. I also think they like Qasim Mitchell as a LT.

Bears FA thread
KC has about 5 mill freed up. My guess is the Bears will have to structure this deal to the opint that it would cost KC about 8 mill the first two years, meaning it would be very unlikely that they match it, because of what they would have to do to keep him. The nice thing is, the Bears are in good position the next couple years cap wise, so they can afford to do this. The other good part is, after the 1st two years, we have a guy at a pretty damn good rate, assuming he plays at a probowl level. He'd be a tremendous signing and I hope KC declines. But we'll have to wait the full week, I'm sure.

Bears FA thread
Thats awesome..now we got to hope the Chiefs don't match. And if they don't match, and the Bears somehow have the caproom, don't be shocked if they look towards another OT or go after Big Warren Sapp. PFT reported that if the Bears don't get Tait, then they will go after Sapp.

America's Five worst highways
nterstate 5, between Los Angeles and San Diego. It was difficult to pick just one stretch of I-5, the 1,375-mile interstate highway that runs between Canada and Mexico. There were so many other contenders, especially in California and Washington. But in the end, Southern California's legendary traffic put it over the top. In portions of Los Angeles and Orange counties, I-5 is, at best, a dangerous parking lot. But once you start heading south, and the cars begin to pick up speed, the parking lot actually starts to move. Then it's as if all the pent-up aggression from sitting in hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic is suddenly released. The cars speed along the freeway at 85 miles an hour as tightly as Blue Angels until some bozo — don't be surprised if it is a convertible packed with college kids bound for Tijuana — decides to break ranks and pass on the right. (Believe me, I know. I used to be one of those kids.) Diane Scholfield, a Web site editor who lives in Oceanside, Calif., says it's difficult to get around this highway from hell — but not impossible. "There really is no good time of the day to avoid the traffic anymore," she says. "So I take the train." Yeaah...thats the freeway I'm on every single day

I would be outraged if it was a Dem
Well I care about lying under oath. The act itself, may not of been huge (Thats up to people's personal judgement) but lying under oath shouldn't be tolerated. Whether your some crack dealer or the president of the United States.

I would be outraged if it was a Dem
Plus, couldn't you bring up the fact that our military intelligene got so bad under the Clinton years and now under the Bush regime we've basically had to completely rebuild it. And Clinton lobbing a few missiles in the midst of his trial to draw the attention away from himself, wasn't the way to handle the situation. If Bill went out and said hey, these bastards went after our country and were going to get after them and destory this problem, then I would of supported it. I'd of supported going to Iraq no matter who was president. To me it was about getting a dictator out of their.

For all you live in Chicago...
Are they not doing spring training feeds for this year? Anyway, if someone wants to post the link to the feeds before the game, one of the mods will always pin them, that way people can easily find them during the preseason.

Who said this?
All I'm going to say is thank goodness Bush increased Tax Cuts. The economy didn't go the way he wanted to it, but he made the changes necessary to position the country for what followed and the big time economic strides made during the middle to late 90's.
-

9/11 is something that happened. Bush rallied the country to the ocassion and to me did an incredible job during a time of crisis.

John Kerry
I'm not. I'm going to school so I can become a partner for a CPA firm doing a service. I'm going to school so I can provide a service and help the economy be more efficient, because I believe thats where the future is. Like I said, I'm not willing to pay way more for products to be built by Americans. I should add, I do buy American cars or at least I try to. I'm driving a Honda right now, which I absolutely love, but before that I drove a Ford and was damn proud it was made in America. Everyone has differnet thresholds of what they are willing to pay more for, for an American good. Would I pay a buck more, probably, but 20 bucks more...hell of a lot less likely. When it comes to the corporate tax cuts, while we like them or not, lets also remember whose paying so much of these taxes. It is the corporations and the wealthy so they are going to save money. I know economic theory states that the best people to give the savings to is the middle class, because they are typically the people that have the highest savings rate (How much of a buck they save...basically) compared to upper class people and lower class people. Like I say, sometimes you have to really fight to keep an industry going in the US. For example, we have to subsidize for farmers, because we never want to be fully dependent on getting food from other countries. We always want to be able to trust our own food first. That is a basic need and one we shouldn't risk. With oil, which is one of the most limited resources, we rarely try to use our reserves or mines, imo, because we want to get it from elsewhere as long as we can, so when and if its necessary, we can tap into ours, but as long as we don't need to, we don't, we keep it in reserves and such. Its a hard issue, becasue there are so many things you have to look at. But like I've said all along, my theory is I find it absolutely impossible to do the things Kerry is saying because I don't think it works that way. Thats not to knock Kerry, but more to knock what I feel is the economic basis or theory of the democratic party. I simply don't agree with that theory.

I should add, that I have no problem with immigrants coming over here. I respect those that come to this country, like my great great grandparents did, so they could have a better life. And a lot of the immigrants that come over here work there ass off and do exactly that. I don't respect those that come to this country and work here and take money, yet they don't pay taxes, welch free medicine, etc and it leads to good people who may not have the money getting hosed.
