Not to say much, but people act as if this happenned only in Florida. These stories could of been pulled up all over the place. The entire thing was bogus in my book. My grandpa, god bless him, was constantly pestered by Democrats in the leisure world he worked at. He said he knew people who would basically be forced to vote democrat at other senior citizens areas. I don't know how true it is, but these type of games have been going on for so long, don't even act as if its all republicans doing this and like I said earlier I don't buy into the crap that there was this huge conspiracy to let Bush win and that they were closing the polls early and that the ballots were really screwed up. If someone was dumb enough to screw up their ballot, thats there problem. I voted with the same butterfly ballot and never had a problem with it.

Lets quickly look at this deal: Lineup Willie Harris Trot Nixon/Carlos Lee Nomar Garciaparra Frank Thomas Carlos Lee/Trot Nixon Paul Konerko Joe Crede Aaron Rowand/Jeremy Reed/Willie Harris Miguel Olivo I'd say that lineup would be more then solid Then a bullpen of: Williamson Marte Koch Politte Wunsch Then you have Wright, Grilli, Scho, Sanders, Munoz and a whole lot of others battling. Rotation still needs another arm.

Imo, Trot nixon is a major step up over Jose Valentin. For that reason alone, i'd do this deal. Plus I think if the Sox made it, they would add another starter and call it an offseason and I'd be pleased.
-
I agree...the only way this would ever make sense is if Epstein believes it gives the BoSox enough leeway cap wise where they can just put their entire forces and the rest of the offseason to getting Arod.
-
Not true...if someone like Mark Cuban or just ran the team and made a big time committment to winning and the Sox won the series, they would be LOVED.

I think only JR/KW can speak for that. Sometimes JR may be willing to go above what he and the shareholders have set as the payroll, other times he isn't. I think if a move legitimately makes the Sox a world series contender, he'll listen, keeping Colon here would of done so. The Sox made a fair offer, but the Angels offer was ridiculously good and Colon couldn't possibly turn it down. Now I think JR is in the mode where he doesn't think any one signing will put this team over that top, at least not at this point. *This is merely me speculating*

Well, if true, thats looking pretty damn good. I'm guessing the Sox are giving up someone like Neil Cotts, Jon Rauch or Dan Wright but I'd be very very happy with that trade. Sox get a shortstop, I like Trot Nixon and his bat replaces Maggs (well not really...but its admirable) and the Sox get Scott Williamson whose a pretty damn good reliever. The Sox still need a starter and this move doesn't really do anything salary wise (Well roughly I'm thinking the salaries even out). The Sox can then spend their time trying to move Konerko for a starter (washburn/Perez) or they could simply step it up and sign Ponson and go over budget. Either way, I'd definately be in favor of this move. I still say that guy isn't a credible source but if he's right this time (this would be a move you couldn't predict...the last one you could easily predict that the Sox would somehow get involved, imo) I'll give him full credit.

I always tell them to shove their prices and I just call up and ask them if they can do it or not at the price I want. Well, the one time I bought a car . They bulls*** around and call you back saying we can't go this far or this far and then I told them well then I'll go somewhere else where I can. Your wasting my time with these calls..you can or you can't. Worked good for me the only time I bought a car. Got a hell of a price. I checked around what places were dealing and then go a little below that, basically. The biggest ploy they always say is how much do you want to pay a month. I don't give a damn about that, I'll figure that out on my own time. I want to know how much I'm paying and what kind of a rate you guys are offering, and know what kind of rate your local credit unions are offering.

This is kind of funny (The whole combo thing)...it seems so Viva Le Bam with Big Vito and Phil being the ones called fat Although I think it sucks that the people are called that, I think it would be funny on a TV show though. And to note, I don't care if someone is big or not.

Nice...I've eaten it, but its just not the same anymore. Still good stuff though, just pales in comparison to your moms Nice I'm really stoked...Family Guy DVD and Pasta Sauce

Its just what whitesox.com puts up. The rosters on that site are not accurate nor are they right. The only roster moves to pay attention to when it comes to the minors right now are if guys are put on or off the 40 man roster, Rule V pickups and/or losses and if the sox sign anyone to a minor league contract or lose minor league free agents. The Sox will typically announcer their minor league rosters sometime in March or at least thats what i've been told by a few affiliates the past few days. I'm working on getting pictures of every player for FS (futuresox)

I think it was like 3 bowls . I got home and told my dad to just stop making pasta cause nothing could ever top what I just ate .

From what I've heard on interviews and such, there were major arguments in the white house on whether to leave or to continue on. My memory is really fuzzy on this, but I thought it was Bush that backed down, despite Norman Schwarzkof's (I know I botched that name) continuing urges to whipe Saddam out and stay there for the time to complete the mission. (It could be the other way around). I do know that this time, the administration seems intent with staying in and fullfilling the mission. I also know I've heard interviews of intelligence reports saying that intelligence advised the White House not to oust Saddam because he was the lesser of two evils and allowing his son to take over would be even worse. My theory is, this can't be too true, cause if they feared them both, they would of taken them both out.

My reasons to go to Iraq (oil is kind of a subreason, not my reason for why) were always for the intent to liberate, receive oil, as well as stop a country that potentially harbored Weapons of Mass Destruction with a leader willing to use those weapons on nations and innocent people. This leader had already done it (Gassing the Kurds). Now the administration may of had other reasons (maybe the oil; knowing it would put a boost to the economy; believing it gives Bush a better chance of being re-elected). I'm not going to get into it with their reasons. I long felt Iraq and Saddam were always given a long enough time and they always spurned the UN's resolutions and such. For 10 plus years it had been happenning and you can't continue to let someone get away with something. There is no way Saddam would of ever complied. Once you fail to comply a few times, with no real consequences, then you will continue to do so. The US already had trade sanctions against them, so its not like continuing to NOT comply would lead to anything else. Saddam wasn't really getting anything from us anyway (Well not recently...we could all debate on how dumb it was to put him in charge, supply him with weapons, etc, but at the time, he was the lesser of two evils). They liberated people and while its probably elitist of me to say that Democracy is the best policy, they are working on instilling that policy in Iraq, a policy in my mind is much better then a dictatorship or anything else. Of course people will rebel against it, I don't think anyone likes to be forced into actions, but I also think there was so much negative propaganda and lies told about the US and other nations over Saddam's period of rule that people believed we were an evil monster or something along those lines. I understand debating about whether the US should of been involved or that it is wrong to instill our political beliefs in another country, although I do believe that democracy/capitalism is the best method out there. The people of Iraq weren't free and no one should of had to live with what they had to deal with. Of course you can say the same about Africa and the absolutely ridiculous aids epodemic that is going on there. It is absolutely sickening to see how many people die there every day, let alone year.

Haa, I saw some special screening of Charlie's Angels 2 and if they weren't paying me to watch it...I'd of so been gone. At least there were some nice shots of Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore. Coincidentally after I told them the movie was crap, they never called me again for a special screening :fyou

Did anyone see Ollie North talking about all the weapons they are destroying over there? I have no idea how valid his statement was, but he said they were destroying like 100 tons of weapons a day and at that rate it would take like 10 years (Going off memory...but it was some ridiculous sounding number) to destroy what they have found thus far. Of course none are the socalled WOMD.
-
Mario is right on with that statement. That was some good stuff your mom made. I've never had better pasta in my entire life.

Out here the rates are definately one of the factors, but supply and demand to me may be an even larger factor, unless of course, rates shoot up 3 or 4%. (I still believe rates will hold; they may go up a bit, but rates are still so low and even a point or two higher and they will still be rather affordable). In the area where I invested in a home...hoping to find a second one soon, but need to save up a bit more, the prices are exponentially lower then everywhere else. I'm planning on holding long term. I get about 400 bucks a month positive cash flow out of my rental property so it works really good. I just have that money sitting in my rental account cause I sure as heck don't want to touch it. So I get a tax benefit, my tenants are putting equity in my house, and I'm seeing my house appreciate over time. Typically, now isn't necessarily the time to buy, especially in the area where I live cause prices are through the roof. I think in the 2 years we've lived at our home, it has already doubled. It all depends on the area. However, I know in some places real estate defiantely isn't the right idea because it doesn't appreciate like it does in other places. And I wish I could buy up the land around bridgeport, sooner or later when they clean up the area around the cell (Not really bridegport, I happen to think bridgeort is fine) and revitalize it, you will see people bring more money in and property value will really take off. The place really isn't that far from the lake and its a real short drive into the city. I could see land/homes there really skyrocketing if you planned on holding long term (kind of where the projects are and such). Of course it helps cause I get all my real estate transactions for free. I do the loans and my dad sure as heck isn't going to charge me a commission, since I do his personal loans for free

Lol....all my property, will one day turn into my equity to buy the Sox. I'll be just like McCourt, all my money will be tied up in Real Estate, I'll have no real money...but I'll still buy the Sox and then cry poor

Nuke, I think we both know if Clark is the commander and chief, the military will be absolutely screwed.

After that night, it has really become a task to get a shot in me, let alone the bottle that I downed two years ago. Luckily I hate hard liquor so its all good. I can safely sya it was the only time in my life I've been hungover and I ain't going back there again. I'll stick with a buzz.

He hits like crap at shortstop too

Its all good...I'm sure it will take a life of its own.

Hell ya it was.

s***, I know exactly how you feel. That was my new years two years ago. That was an ugly night. I remember everything until 12...and I called my cell around 1:30 and left a hillarious message on it, which discussed the fact that I wasn't drunk (cause I simply had to tell myself that). Then there was lots of throwing up. VODKA SUCKS.
