  1. Ya...we gave up one older prospect for one thats a bit older but with better numbers. Not quite as good of an arm, but I've heard Nickle can hit 94 (Saw him pitch but didn't pay close enough attention to hte point I can't remember him much). I know he looked solid. Bittner is just a scrub in my book.
  2. I'm on...aim me at Chisoxfn16
  3. I like it cause it gives the Sox a damn good lefty reliever or a guy that could turn into a good starter although I have my doubts about him in the rotation. I'm happy. Sox still have a need in the pen though, imo.
  4. This sounds like a pretty fair deal to me. Nickle and Bittner are kind of washes (Although there is a shot Nickle could contribute for the Sox). Very fair deal...I like Scho more then Glover so I'm happy with this deal. I guess its like Jimenez and Glover for Scho.
  5. YEP...Sox also acquire Doug Nickle and gave up 2 Minor leaguers.
  6. Doug Nickle is also acquired by the Sox. I saw him in spring training. Has a good arm and had a tremendous spring. Supposed to be a classy guy (There was a long long article in the times during spring training about him). I recall him being a writer as well. Is kind of old for a prospect if I recall.
  7. This story will be updated with more info in a bit.
  8. Sox Acquire Schoeneweis for Glover, Minor Leaguers By Mario Scalise July 29, 2003 SoxNet.net (SN Report #587) - In a move to bolster their pitching staff, the White Sox traded for Angels lefty reliever Scott Schoeneweis and minor league pitcher Doug Nickle today. In return, the White Sox sent reliever Gary Glover and two minor leaguers. It is being reported that the two minor leaguers the White Sox gave up are pitchers Scott Dunn and Tim Bittner. The 29-year-old Schoeneweis, a starter coming into this season, has pitched in 39 games out of the bullpen this season with the Angels. In 38 2/3 innings, Schoeneweis has a 3.96 ERA and 1-1 record. Opponenets are batting .250 off him. For the triple-A Salt Lake City Stingers, Nickle, 28, was 2-1 with 1.48 ERA in 34 games and 48 2/3 innings. Nickle has given up 40 hits and has struck out 23. In 24 relief appearances, Glover, 26, posted a 4.54 ERA in 35 2/3 innings. In three season's with the Sox, Glover is 13-13 with a 5.02 ERA in 111 games (33 starts). Bittner, a 23-year-old lefty, went 4-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 50 1/3 (10 starts) with low-A Kannapolis, and 3-3 with a 3.60 ERA in 30 innings (17 starts) with high-A Winston Salem. Dunn, 25, is a right-hander who was acquired from the Reds in the D'Angelo Jimenez trade. In 10 2/3 innings with the double-A Birmingham Barons, Dunn was 3-1 with a 1.69 ERA. He is 6-3 overall this season with a 3.35 ERA in 39 games and 51 innings. The White Sox have yet to decide what Schoeneweis' role will be, but as of now he will be used as a reliever. Schoeneweis started 15 games for the Angels in 2002 and went 6-6 with a 5.38 ERA. He averaged slighly over six innings per start. Out of the bullpen, he had a 3.25 ERA in 27 2/3 innings. In the post-season, he allowed one run in three innings.
  9. Never heard any mention that they are were close to a deal nor have any names been mentioned...just Williamson and Boone and it was by Gammons.
  10. I think it definitely depends on the prospects we are sending, and if they are actaully prospects. If its just Glover for Scho...then I'm happy with it.
  11. I agree with you. I think both have been big dissapointments and they've had similar careers to this point. I'm thinking as things change we'll find out who exactly is moving. COuld be Ross Gload..Angels need a first baseman (They might as well try them).
  12. Don't be so sure. Sox could be using Scott as a starter...plus I think the Sox since they dealt Glover in the move, still are planning on adding another reliever.
  13. I think its basically gonna be Glover for Schoenweiss. I don't anticipate anyone like Pacheco involved. You could see someone like Ryan Meaux moved or something along those lines.
  14. Hmm, don't know if it's true or not, but what are Schoneweiss's #'s? Curious 1-1, 3.96 ERA, 38.2 INN. Watched him on Saturday out of the pen and he was throwin 94. I am a schoenweiss fan. I'm hoping its basically Glover for Schoey and its a good deal.
  15. I've heard one other minor leaguer. My guess is they wouldn't be good prospects. I dont' think its a good deal if Sox give up anyone good simply because Schoenweiss has never had a good season as a starter.
  16. Alright, I'm looking around...gonna call a buddy I know with the Angels and see if I can find anything out. I am a schoenweiss fan.

Lion King was good...I think Toy Story was damn good though..both of them.
  20. I didn't know the Astros were interested. It mentioned the Cardinals in there.
  21. Read yesterday that the Angels will consider moving him. It be stupid on their part though because they have Sele and Appier in the rotation who suck, so I think the Angels will hold onto him and if they move him...Cards have been scouting him.

Did they end up paying a lto of Miceli's contract? I didn't think Miceli made much and if he did I assumed the Yanks would be paying it. Miceli is a solid reliever. They didn't really give up anything.
  23. I was gonna say I swore he played in the middle infield at one point in his career. I was thinking he could move to short or 2nd if Alomar or Jose leaves in the offseason and the Sox don't deal Crede. I forgot the reds had larson. If they plan on playing him at 3rd then I doubt they'd take Crede.
