Which starter should we get?
Agreed, Peavy isn't going anywhere unless they get a damn good player in return. Carlos Lee is not a star.

trade for Livian Hernandez
I'd rather see teh Sox have the money to sign and keep the pitching staff in tact then keep Konerko (Who is my favorite player). This would allow Rowand to play more in center (With Everett in Left/DH along with Carlos). Then on certain days Daubbie could play 1st with Thomas DH, etc). Next season the Sox could resign Lee for much less then Konerko makes and I think worse case they put up very similar numbers while the Sox add Jeremy Reed to the outfield.

Ranger Farmhands
Well I guess i'm considered a "minor league freak" but rarely have I complained about who we gave up. Rupe was the only guy who we traded that I really regret giving up simply because I believe the Sox could of got the deal done without including him. That being said all the Sox have given up, minus Ring, have been low level prospects and one AAAer with a very high ERA who was too old to really be considered a prospect anymore (Almonte).

Dick Jauron
Actually seems pretty nice of him. I'm sure a lot of head coaches would of given up crap and all that. Your right though, him saying it nicely would of been the best approach.

You never heard of the Scalise family mafia? they terrorized the southside of Chicago by stealing spaghetti sauce......he almost put mama celeste outta bussiness. Mario is dangerous... watch out. ROFLMAO. Afterall...it is the Scalise family who invented the popular saying..."Its a me, Maaaariooo".

Reds Housecleaning
wait a minute here, you are talking about williamson, 27 a right hander 26 saves, a whip of 1.3+ and 1.5 mil a yr sullivan a right hander who is a long rp 6 wins 0 loses 1 bs a whip of 1.3+ 2.8 mil white, a lefty 3 wins 0 loses 0 bs whip of 1.22 and you are worried about losing a lefty in the deal. these guys are pitching now and with some success on the major league level now. in addition they can help us in the next couple of yrs. where those pitchers you mention may be a couple of yrs away if they develop. I agree about not giving up lefties. Why would we want to take on those salaries if we have to give up good prospects. That's not how it works these days. If we're going to take the salaries, they're not going to get good prospects. Agreed Right now under the current economics of the system, if a team takes on salary they'll give up a fringe guy at best unless they are getting a star in return. If they get a player for free and the other team pays most of the salary they will get a solid to great prospect in return (Depending on the player). Considering the Sox didn't add payroll in the first two moves, I'd say they are going to be willing to add a few million this year, but the big question is whether they are willing to add it next year. With Livan Hernandez, Kevin Jarvis and most of the relievers mentioned they have multi year deals that means that they really won't have to give up much cause they would be saving them salary this year and next year or even longer. I'm pretty confident we'll see one trade made, and fairly confident that two more our made. I don't see the Sox adding more then two players unless they also are getting prospects. Sox will add a starting pitcher and/or a reliever.

Buehrle
I'd say right now its around 50% that he'll stay. Offer him a fair deal and I think he'll sign it.

2003 Draft Breakdown: 10-1
haha no, the website. i actually do stuff for it already, like roster and stat pages. good god i can't even imagine proofreading a message board. What is the proper spelling and context of shizzle my nizzle anyway? As far as I know, it can be either "shizzle my nizzle", "shizzle mah nizzle", or "fo' shizzle mah nizzle". Another way of saying "Fer sure, dude!" Either way, I want to hear Hawk say it. Sounds great Spiff...you've been doing awesome with futuresox

Who'd Vote for Me
All I need is 10,000 sigs and I don't have to put up any money to get my name on the recall ballot Or I could get 65 sigs if I can find a campaign contributor to pony up 3500 and I'll be on the ballot. In all honesty, I'd think this would be a great shot for APU to make his run for a government position. Just get citizenship in Cali and fight your way onto radio and tv interviews to get your name out. And no, I wouldn't vote for ya

I'm gonna work on getting to the bottom of that registration error before i leave on my trip. I also think its pretty safe to say most people just post under one moniker. I'd say 98%. Some may of registered under multiple, but thats gonna be because of an error while others may forget their info so they re-register.

Which starter should we get?
Its about the first time i've ever even used it. Just tell me the ERA, innings pitched, k's, walks and I can tell ya if the guy is any good. I'll add hits allowed to those, Jason... Agreed or more specifically BAA and WHIP.

Alomar has been really good thus far.

Carlos Castillo Sighting
Its great to see Hummel crushing the ball. In regards to Sanders, I'm glad he's back in AAA where he can get work himself back in. It was absolutely pointless having him in the Sox pen when Manuel was afraid to use him. Sanders is a very good pitcher and I think he will be a huge help to the Sox in September and for the next few seasons at the least.

Which starter should we get?
Kevin Jarvis and Danny Graves or Mike Stanton. Gives the Sox two veterans that can contribute immediately. Both make money, but it wouldn't cost much more then two or three fring to average prospects to get the two of them. Graves (29 years old) career numbers: 39-32, 130 SV, 3.83 ERA, 650.1 INN, 25 GS, 347 K, .266 BAA Mike Stanton (36 YR Old) Career Numbers: 55-41, 204 HLD, 42 SV, 3.81 ERA This Season: 2-4, 7 HLD, 1 S, 1 BS, 4.94 ERA, 27.1 INN He has been injured for parts of this season. Stanton makes 2 mill a year for the next two years I think. Kevin Jarvis (33 Years Old) career numbers: 33-40, 1 SV, 5.69 ERA, 109 Starts This season: 4-2, 3.91 ERA, 50.2 Inn (8 starts) Hasn't made many starst the past two season with injuries. Is healthy now and pitching very good. I think he's gonna be one of those guys that has a few really good years after never really been noticed much during most of his career (Ala Woody Williams).

Cotts Tonight
I think against the Mariners its not good to bring in a guy that has control problems. They will beat up on a kid that gives up walks, etc. I do think Cotts could contribute.
-
Cotts Tonight
If its just one start, Cotts shouldn't be the guy cause you'd start his service time only to send him back down. Right now he isn't on the 40 man roster so there is no point in putting him on it unless he's gonna be up for the long haul. If thats the case then Danny Graves would be a perfect fit. He could start if necessary (if Cotts really struggles) or he could become a great reliever again (and close if necessary; I'd say the Reds will unload him considering he made 5 mill this year). I don't think he'd have much trade value and to me he'd be an awesome pickup.
-
Reds Housecleaning
They will be absolutely unloading. Expect a huge firesale in Cinncy. Gabe White, Williamson, etc...gone. Probably Danny Graves too. Don't know if he's been healthy or really how he's done as a starter, but if he's healthy he'd be an AWESOME pickup for the pen.

trade for Livian Hernandez
If given the choice I think either Jarvis or Hernandez would be better then Suppan because they are long term solutions. Both jarvis and Hernandez are having very solid years (Both era's are under 4). The biggest thing is getting Suppan will cost a team a good to very good prospect while you'll only have to give up a mediocre/fringe guy for Jarvis or Hernandez. The big question is would JR be willing to pick up the tab on Jarvis for a few years or on Hernandez for next year (6 or 6.5 mill if I recall). Would the Pads or Expos pick up part of that contract for someone like Majewski or a Spidale persay?
