    a question

I'm so with you. If they structured the game like football, it would be awesome for the owners. Basically you play to your level or your gonna get cut and they don't owe you anything but the signing bonus.

    a question

No, it has no effect on me. Its the owners who pay them the ridiculous salaries so to take that out on a player is ridiculous. Now it does raise expectations. In regards to PK, he's my favorite player but I thought we paid him way too much at the time we signed him to the long term deal. Salaries do have an effect on what players I'd trade or acquire though and thats soley because it matters cause when your a fan of a team that doesn't spend huge money, sometimes they shouldn't go after the best player because he would tie their hands up for years, but instead go for a few good players.
  3. But if it ends their curse it will be well worth it. The thing is David Ortiz could go to the outfield. I think somehow we'd have to give them an outfielder to replace Nixon (Rowand), a reliever, and Colon and we could get the package of three. Colon, Lowe and Pedro can take them to the series and they'll have quite the punch.
  4. Damn, didn't read your post until I made my post, but it looks like we see things eye to eye.
  5. I think they would be willing to do it cause they have two other good middle infield/3rd base prospects. I think we'd be nuts to trade him straight up for Colon though. We would have to get Nixon as well and a pitcher. I still think a Fossum, Nixon, Sanchez deal would be nice for Colon and Flash. We get a shortstop and outfielder while getting a solid young lefty. If they don't give up Fossum, then we ask for another good pitcher.
  6. His knuckle ball has been absolutely whicked tonight. I think the air being heavy (From the rain) really is helping is pitch, but damn its looking awesome. Watching him early I thought oh s***, he's going to no hit us.
  7. Hamilton gets no credit, despite setting up the entire financial system that America bases it self on. He did so many things that were way ahead of his time. He is probably one of the great patriots, yet not many know about him other then the Milk Commercial. He was a hated man though.

    What is Tony's mailbag?
  9. that is an amazingly common misperception - these are the same people who gave you the Patroit Act and believe in every type of law to legislate what you do in private in your bedroom and what medical procedures you can have and what the limits are you can be paid when your doctor commits malpractice Not surprizing the repubican chair of the Senate judicary committee would propose this It is a very common misconception. They want business to be completely separate from government, but they want to tell individuals what to do. It is hypocracy to me. I just wrote you into my will. I am a very big believer in the Jeffersonian Utopian Farmer government ideals. Government was never meant to be the determining factor in our lives. I don't care who it is, both side of the aisle do it, then accuse the other of being hypocrates. And I am a big believer in the Hamiltonian system. I think Jeffersonians had some things right, but I wouldn't want to be a rural agrerian state like Jefferson always wanted.
  10. I'm one of the rare ones that sides with you on this issue.
  11. I never figured it out either. His rookie year was really good with Detroit and then he fall back in his sophmore season and before you know it he was ousted. I'd definately trade Carlos for him because you get a ballplayer instead of a one dimensional type guy. Is he due a lot of money or is it similar to Carlos? The only reason I don't think they take Carlos is like I mentioned before, payroll, and I don't want to see the Sox give them some good prospects for him. Rowand and Hummel could do it, imo. Hummel would be a potential replacement for Castillo who is expected to be dumped.
  12. I'd definately take Encarnacion. I'd be willing to trade someone like Carlos Lee for him. I think the Sox need to start getting more all around players. Encarnacion plays good defense and has a lot of speed. I like Lee though and the Fish want to dump salary. I'd give them Rowand and someone else (No one very good). The market is soft right now.
  13. There was a temporary outage a day or two ago on it, but now its up and working. Try hitting refresh a few time. It may be just take a bit for you computer to cache the new images.

    Wow

Lol, 1000 posts by me in a day, I think I'd be killing myself. I'd never want to look at a computer again.
  16. Agreed, the Sox have a ton of talent in the lower levels and if they make trades the majority of the guys should be major league ready prospects.
  17. Bull, thanks for the update. While you guys definately didn't have a great 1st half to the season, I do think the team really battled considering. Reed seems to be a heck of a player and should be a great addition. I bet the pitchers will be excited to get another offensive player on board. Also, you seem to be excelling in the pen Thanks for the kind words on the top 50. The next list is right around the corner (July 15 or so) and before that were gonna have something on all the draft picks (Gonna have that up soon). I plan on seeing the Barons win a game on August 9th when you guys are in Chatanooga
  18. Lol. His hitting streak rolls on.
  19. Veal, Moviel, Richard Brooks would be great signings too.

    Wow

    Thats a new record.
  21. Abecrombie is way overpriced for what you get.
  22. In the case of this team, I really think a lot of the blame enlies in the players and a lot of it enlies in the head coach as he isn't doing the little things to make this team better. This is my opinion from wathcing the games. Who knows what it would be if I knew Manuel and had conversations about him and knew how he handled things on a day to day basis. I don't think the hitting coach is the problem. I think Ward definately had some flaws, but to blame Walker for the current aspect is ridiculous. It s been stated by Harold Reynolds that its pretty much pointless to fire a hitting coach because the coach needs time to get to know all the players and make changes, etc. I do like our minor league coaches quite a bit and think that our prospects seem to be much more fundementally sound then their predecessors.
  23. A lot of people would argue that Anderson was drafted higher than he should of been though, so I'm not so sure we got 2 first round picks. Of course we would have had another great pick if KW wouldn't have traded Ray Durham for Jon "ERA" Adkins. Either way I think Anderson was slotted as a first round pick. I'm excited about the draft. As I do a lot of research on some of these guys I'm getting even more excited. One player I'm really excited about now is our 16th round pick Cody Dickens. A real flame-thrower.
