  1. I think Borchard will be like Patterson in terms of development. Both will take some patience but once they figure things out, the sky is the limit. Patterson is busting out in big ways, and Borchard will too. In regards to Joe's arm, its good, but not as its made out to be. I have seen him throw some awesome throws in spring training while fielding. One of the best arms I ever saw was Edgar Clementes.
  2. Well, Borchard made a great catch at the wall in Cleveland this year. Its hard to say a lot of things considering he's had such a short time at the major league level.
  3. Chartered- 1858 First year of classes - 1868 Illinois State: Since 1857!!! We beatcha by a year. We are the REAL ISU!!! Yeah, well the first electronic computer wa invented at Iowa State....beat that! Well Cal State Fullerton is going to win the College World Series this year so take that In regards to honor classes, I laugh at honors classes. 4 years of high school, took one my freshman year and realized this crap blows. I don't want to waste my freaking time doing a bunch of bs work (Even though thats what all of high school is). Just did enough to get into a college in high school and I always told myself once I got into college I'd apply myself. So far, so good. While I was a lazy ass throughout high school, I didn't burn myself out and I actually knew what it was like to have a good time . Now I got no problem if someone is aspiring to go into Harvard or something like that, cause for that you got to work your absolute arse off from the get go. Since I'm trying for law I knew that you don't do that till after you finish your undergrad, therefor cheap for 4 years, then get reamed for 3 years. CSF, your going to college too? That's why y'all are smart and I am not. Sigh. But when your the next acting star, you'll be all set
  4. Ya, like Iowa State would be 2-0 thus far in College World Series play.

    HEATHER Lee,

In her mind she's Carlos wife, but whats in your mind isn't always whats reality Hey, she thinks Carlos is an MVP. While he's solid and improving he's no MVP. Its alright Heather, I'm not calling for Carlos to be traded like I am many players on this team.
  7. Well I agree that Borchard won't play center in the majors because Reed and Webster are better options, but he is an above average defensive player. I saw him make some pretty nice grabs out there in center. Now when you first come up to the show you have to make some adjustments to the park, etc, but Joe looked average out there to me. His arm is awesome. I'll take him in right any day of the week. Offensively, I think he's about to go on an absolute tear. I really think he's close to putting it all together. Also in regards to playing center in the Cell, I've heard from players being interviewed that its one of the toughest places to play defense in center because of swirling winds.

    HEATHER Lee,

Heather, married to Carlos and still a V
  9. Kotsay, a shortstop (Greene or Vazquez) and a pitcher and I'd be tempted.
  10. whitesox I couldn't agree more with you in regards to Vazquez. He's definately a quality player and he reminds me a lot of Jimenez offensively. I've always told my dad that the Sox should pick him up and let him and Jimenez play up the middle. Vazquez at ss with Jimenez at 2nd. They'd be solid defensively and both are very patient players with enough speed. Vazquez is quicker then Jimenez and both should be high obp guys.
  11. Well, if we dealt them Buehrle they would give us Khalil.
  12. I think Reed will be up here before Webster, Webster is still pretty young isn't he?? Anyway, I would think that Joe Borchard would end up being a DH in the future, because we know Frank won't be around forever unfortunately. Another possibility is if we deal Maggs or he signs for big bucks after becoming a free agent. I wouldn't mind having an outfield of Ordonez, Reed and Webster. Borchard could be a great DH. Let's just hope those two guys get here first. CWSOX45 Personally I think Borchard is one of the better defensive outfielders in all of the majors or thats where i see him projecting. Reed would have to play left, can't play right. He could but his arm wouldn't be strong enough. Webster will be in center, Reed in left and Borchard in right. I think they'll rotate Maggs in the outfield and have him DH while the other outfielders also DH. I could see them usinga similar rotation like the Angels use. Thats of course if they sign Maggs.
  13. That seems to hint that Anderson will be signing today. We'll see though. A nice article. King has a ton of power potential and from what you read there it sounds like his power will be able to carry over with wood bats, but we'll have to wait and see what he does.
  14. I don't see why he can't move up to AA later this year. I just hope his arm stays healthy.
  15. I hope Nuke is alright and I'm sure he's going nuts right now over the Sox crappy play We miss ya Nuke
  16. Joe has been hitting it pretty hard since coming back. I hope Rex was right that he needed to get back with Richie (Hitting Coach). Tough outing for Heath. I think he'll be fine though. He did get whacked around good though.

    Manuel

If you ask JM who he prefer to put on play agst LH pitchers, he will say (dumb as always) Jose. I hate Jose and his BS of intangibles (winning attitude, good baserunning, etc.). In 8th inning, he was leading off the inning and JM leaves Jose to face the LH, with DJ on the bench hitting almost .300 agst lefties. JM, it's because of this and others things that the fans hate you so much! :fyou JM Thank you. It is beyond ridiculous that Jose plays against LHP. Jimenez is hitting very good against LHP and Graffy hits good against lefties. It is ridiculous that Jose is always out there. I'm sick and tired of the constant bs that Manuel pulls. He always claims to be a small ball manager, yet he never backs that talk up by implementing it. The time has ran out. I'm not one to make rash conclusions, I've watched Manuel be a fool for a few years now. This season its been worse because the offense has been atrocious so it really brings out a managers faults. Every game I watch before plays are made I see so many mistakes. I'd probalby say 2 to 3 a game, which is a real high amount. These aren't the second guessing variety but just areas where he could make something happen with this offense yet he still sits around, for the 3rd month in a row, expecting a whole lot of homers and the offense to just go on an onslaught. Manuel, it isn't going to happen. You've waited 3 f'in months now for this crap. Why don't you get off your butt and try to make something happen. Put guys in motion, get Jose's sorry self out of the lineup against lefties and for all I care get him out of hte lineup full time. If it were me, Harris, Hummel and Miles would be up here. Hummel, Miles and Jimenez in the infield while Harris and Rowand rotate in the outfield with Rios long gone and Jose long gone. Now you got to find a trade partner for Jose, but its time to shake this club up and start developing. IF the team starts winning fine, then make some improvements at the deadline, but if not, continue with the development and by giving them a whole lot of time you can really get guys set for next year or the year after. But the Sox will continue to fart around and suck and then make the trades much later when you can only scout the guys for about a month to month and a half at the major league level, instead of giving them half a season of development.

What the hell did Mark do. How can you ever wish a Sox player to suck? Now I think I dislike Jose more then anyone on the Sox, but I don't root for him to do bad, he just sucks. I hope he could somehow start to hit and actually become a useful player, but its not going to happen and as long as we have a guy in the 2 hole who has a freaking horrible obp, this team will suck. He isn't the only problem, but with Frank coming out of his rut and Maggs playing alright (Crappy compared to Maggs usual standards) while Carlos has been fine and is hitting good with runners on. Konerko has been bad, Crede has been (But he's a rookie, so I never blame a team's season on rookies cause I don't expect crap out of them to begin with; Crede has been playing better lately and his avg is right around Jose's). Then you have Rowand that has looked much much better this time up. Miguel has been alright and is better then anything we had behind the plate last year.

    Summer

Thats the part I knew about. I know I never really lifted until I was a junior or so.
  20. Thanks for that update Rex. I've noticed in the box scores that he's been really doing good lately out of the pen. His ERA has been dropping constantly since some rough outings early in the season. I think he was right when he decided to move to the pen. He could really be a good swingman out of the pen or even a lefty specialist. As long as he keeps improving his control (The better the control the better his chances and he has pretty good control already) and developing his secondary pitches he's got a shot. Lefties that get guys out don't need to throw hard; neither to righties in my mind, but too many people think they do.
  21. Just looking at the standings there is still a chance. The pitching is kind of there (although Glover and White haven't been good; White is kind of showing signs, although he gave up a run yesterday). Thomas is heating up and if Maggs can start playing ball like he should be they could carry the offense.
  22. Rivera had a monster game. It wouldn't shock me to see him in Chicago some time this season with Paul gone or in AAA and Alomar on the DL.
