Wasn't JM ejected before Koch came in. I know they say the manager still makes the calls even if he isn't in the dugout, but if I saw it right he was ejected on the play at 2nd where Thomas was safe, but was called out.

I agree with you 100% idseer. KW may have put this crap together but it is up to JM to teach the fundamentals and mental aspect of the game. Obviously, he can't get through to any of the Sox starters..... and for some time now. I'm with you two. Now if those two get canned and the Sox go on a hot streak, then JM will save his job and I won't really care, but I would like Backman up here. Part of me still believes Manuel could be good, if in fact he hasn't been doing things on his own. Still, too many times he doesn't go with small ball and to me I'd much rather have that kind of guy. I know people say he's a small ball guy, but not enough for me. I love the small ball.

I only saw what they showed on Baseball tonight, but a few days ago the velocity on his fastball was back up to around 96. He looked pretty good in the pitches they showed me on Baseball tonight. I still am very confident in Koch as am I in the rest of this team.

Here's the link to the chatroom. http://whitesox.theinsiders.com/3/chat.html

I guess the only plus is this takes the distractions away from the team and puts them in KW's lap, which he may hope helps them get out of their rut. Also, that was cool how many people were on.

UCLA got their guy in Ben Howland (From Pitt) and they hired away Cal State Fullerton's head coach to join UCLA's staff. Jabaar has been blackballed from coaching pretty much because of his rep as a pot smoker back in the days. I just figure with the 4th ranked baseball team in the country its about damn time Fullerton had a basketball program (Bruce Bowen of the Spurs is from Fullerton). Still, I am just looking forward till when I transfer to Stanford (Or at least hope to) and then I can be at a school that is good at all sports as well as helping me get an education.

I guess thats alright. Crede looked lost yesterday, but he has been doing far from bad lately. Him and PK have had the right approach (Minus Crede swinging still at some balls) but so far neither have really CLICKED. I sure hope it happens soon. Those two on fire could really unsink this ship.

I'm assuming either he's going to stay on board or that he will is now setting it up so he can step down for family reasons. He gets reassigned, but keeps his the potential of becoming a GM with another team at a later date an open possibility. If he is fired and all the reports came out about him managing the team, etc, he'd be screwed. Still, right now I think Gary Ward and JM are the more immediate problem. Ward is who really kills me. I think the team could use a better motivator then Manuel, but if Ward is teaching stupid stuff, then don't have him there, or bring up a 2nd hitting coach to work with the players if you can't get rid of Gary.

Exactly Cali, which is why wait. Shaffer isn't a prospect. We have been nice to him long enough. Now is the time to move him to the bench and start playing Reyes and Yan the majority of the time. Those are the guys with major league potential and those are who should be playing. Plus, it would make it so much funner to watch Barons games and I know Rex is up for that

Why don't we combine this and make this the game thread/Elo K tracker? Sound good
-
I've been noticing this too. Karim Abdul Jabbar may get a coaching job, at my school, Cal State Fullerton. Who knows if it happens though. Personally I think it would be a good hire.

Do you know if it's treatable, or is it a chronic thing? Should they play Frank or Daubach at 1B and DH Paul to reduce the pounding on his hip? Or if it's affecting him that much, and it can be treated either with rest or medical procedure, shouldn't PK just shut it down for a while and try to get healthy? I like PK, but if he's not at 100%, maybe the team should take him out of the lineup for a while. From what I've read its a chronic hip problem, much like Albert Belles. I sure hope if the hip ends up regressing a whole lot that the Sox took out some sort of insurance on the contract. Otherwise, trade him now while he has value.

For those of you that aren't going to be at the game, stop on by the chatroom, hopefully a few people in there will have television access to the game. http://whitesox.theinsiders.com/3/chat.html

They will be pretty damn good. Good thing they still have a crappy coach.
-
Lol, just like the commercials.
-
He did mention that his family thing was a whole misunderstanding and there is a not that is not known. I forgot to add that.
-
Is the webcast the same as the on-air? Ya
-
Bahaaa, lol. Hopefully it was just a precursor. WGN sports is on next, then I'm getting back to the books. Doing homework, while swearing when every commercial comes on isn't effective. --------OK SPORTS IS ON---------------------------- Ken Williams is still speaking. Two of Williams sons were arrested and they made a court appearance yesterday and he said it is a huge misunderstanding. He started the media session saying he's not sure if this job is worth it and that he has to talk to his family to see if he can protect his family. Kaplan asked him whether he was leaving and he said no I have to first talk to my family or something like that. Jerry Manuel is not going to address the media as Williams said that he doesn't want my manager addressing the media tonight.

Did they announce something yet Steff?
-
I think that is soley some posters that thing he would be a good hire. Right now I think if KW is gone, they will go in house and then begin an interview process. If its the manager, then I'd assume Backman is either in Chicago already or is on a plane. Its kind of weird that they are moving it back. I guess that explains why none of us could hear anything about it. Hopefully WGN radio doesn't cut me off. I guess nothing was said yet. Also hope some of you in Chicago got the score on.
-
Maybe the hard thing would be to dump Ward, Williams, and Manuel all at once. All would be african americans. Once again just speculating. Still, look at the track record of what they have done, and you could see logic to canning each and every one of them.
-
5 sounds about right. I know that Kaplan mentioned 5, but I thought it was him giving an interview, maybe it was when it was pushed back to. Geeze, who the hell knows now, lol. I just hope this will be all over very soon and we can all get back to focusing on the Sox play (WHICH I really think will get better; Just way too much talent on this team)
-
Well the thing it does is gives KW a great way to walk back into another organization or to simply take a lesser job with the Sox. He won't have to hear the oh you were fired crap or anything like that. He'll kind of get a good guy image from this because he's doing this for his family. I agree, someone had to leak that story out, because a minors name isn't supposed to be given. Maybe this incident happened a week or so ago and thats when KW decided he was going to go under and all the latest stuff has just been cover up work to stage it.
-
I turned WGN radio back on. I guess we'll have to wait until they interview with Kaplan. I'll be studying, but will make a post with what they say in like 15 minutes.

You bring up an excellent point. If in fact he did say that he is questioning his position with the team, then it leads to even more uncertainty and uncertainty is the last thing you need when a team is playing the way the Sox are. Of course play like the Sox are and uncertainty will follow, the uncertainty of who will cut cut, traded, or fired. This team is in the need of a major shakeup and since its easier to fire the coaches, gm then it is the players mid season, Id assume that is what would be done. Obviously I assume too much, because its yet to be done.
