Being at the game. This wasn’t at all on him. Dropped passes etc. no licks made. Sucks.

RIP CITY...

It is nice that Korner is playing less. Dude is so soft.

Dunn looks more like the guy two years ago than last year. Last year the athleticism was just not there. Always will have the issue shooting but his d and ability to aggressively get in the paint was gone. White had a nice game but he has a long way to go. If you are going to shoot as much as he does he has to figure out a way to be an elite shooter while also drawing fouls. Good thing is kid seems to have a great work ethic and plays defense. Whites game was nice but it was still basically him just hitting a high percentage of his threes for once.

I look at the many games where they have got out to double digit leads as a good indicator as well. The flipside to that is they have blown large leads, but I have seen them miss a lot of really good shots. The one concern is their inability to be physical and it hurts them on 2nd chance points, however, Carter has really elevated his game and is trending up.

I think I said somewhere else...outside of those 3 drives, didn't they go 3 and out in all but one other possession. The offense continues to be a problem. Mitch's body language looked much better though and he looked pretty comfortable going through his progressions. I actually thought they could have done more in the 2nd half...they just chose to be ultra conservative, but I might just be overly rosey on that analogy. And this was against a really bad defense. No other way of saying it other than this offense is historically bad. Literally nothing to hang its hat on. That is on the coach more than the QB, however QB playing with more confidence can help.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. I'm over past decisions. Goes back to my earlier point, Bears need to put blinders on to the outside and focus on getting themselves better each and every week. No matter what this season isn't going to end like we expected...but they have every opportunity to change the trajectory and tone heading in to next year. Steadily improving offensive performances while the defense stays sharp (although ideally improving turnovers) is exactly what I would like to see. Would be a hole lot nicer saying...you know what, lets upgrade our TE position, improve the line, and add draft picks, because we can win with this guy (Note: I did not say we can win because of him). I of course would add a good veteran back-up for competition (either way). No matter what, I see the Bears changing OC's in the off-season and going to a more experienced guy or at the very least finding someone who could be a "run game" coordinator.

Damn. Wild card is going to be an 11 win team.
-
I would rather pay a great player like Rendon than get cute and force someone like Castellenos or someone else as a DH. I hate moving Moncada but reality is I want more elite players and Rendon is that.

I'll tell you one thing....one thing that would help cure a lot of Bears ailments fast would be the defense finding the football a bit more, which I think all starts with Mack. I don't think it is a coincidence that the teams streak of getting minimal turnovers dates back to Mack's recent struggles of getting to the QB (and in general, the teams struggle in having a a more constant pass rush). If Bears can do that and actually start off a game decent on offense (so they aren't playing from behind), I think you really start to tilt things more sharply to the teams strengths.

Jesus. Glad to hear you are getting better and attacking your rehab with the right mindset. You have been missed here...will be good to have you around heading into an exciting off-season. Plus...college football is better with Rock around

I just want to point out, Mitch, by all measures was pretty decent yesterday and they still had a shitton of 3 and outs (including the rare Gabriel drop). I go back to pointing out...this is much bigger than the QB. I know so many on here have blamed Mitch for everything, but Nagy has a TON of responsibility in this mess. Play calling was better yesterday but the fact that we could run the heck out of the ball 2 years ago and when Nagy came in, immediately forgot how to do any of that, just irritates the heck out of me. Never ignoring the fact that Mitch is responsible...I just go back to it is not near as "black & white" as some fans make it. Unfortunately...it was against the Lions and I have a feeling any momentum gets stuffed out against the Rams (mainly so the Bears can let me down in person)...but who knows. One week at a time...get better every week. Would be much nicer if the ship and momentum got turned in a positive direction heading into next year (where they could focus on less gimmicks and more on building out a real offense, ideally with Mitch stringing together continuing improving performances (which to be honest...I think 2 of the last 3 weeks...he has showed progress...of course my standards are at pretty low levels at this point).
-
I’ll be at next weeks game. I hope somehow they can pull it out!!!
-
Don't worry...I like you too

No. I said than, that he might end up sucking and be terrible...but that one game alone wasn't going to be the reason wasn't. You weren't wrong than and they were wrong than. The outcome might be the same, but coming to that type of conclusion with such minimal evidence was and always will be wrong.

No - The fans and media have messed up. I don't care that I don't live in Chicago, I see it all the time and the Bears have so many meathead fans. It isn't unique to the Bears and it is the absurd world and mess that twitter and instant everything has created. If Mitch sucks its cause he stinks, but people decided he was the worst after 1 game and berated every single little throw. It was pathetic. And I know they were all rockstars last year. They were never as great as everyone thought they were a year ago and they probably aren't as bad as everyone thinks they are right now. I'm done defending Mitch because he is absolutely part of the problem. Him, Nagy, TE and the oline are in fact that biggest issues on this team.
-
No. Bears need to tune out outside noise and focus on getting better. Mitch needs to do the same. At the same time...weekly breakdowns of every missed throw are absurd and unnecessary. Sit back and let things play out. He is most likely a bust and him being a bust has nothing to do with him making such a statement. Media talking about it just highlights some of the major issues with the media (or more the make-believe media / twitterverse of instant absolute reaction or as I call it JP syndrome).
-
I don't really have an issue with that statement.
-
The analytics people all liked him. I just don't think he's very good, at all. I'd put White in the starting lineup.
-
About the 3rd time this season where they blew what looked like a drama-free win. I don't know if it is the youth, coaching or what. Sucks cause they put themselves in a huge hole when they should be basically .500. Lauri freaking blows. No idea what happened to him but he sucks (his 3 ball has really regressed).

I can buy that. The hard thing I keep going back to, is the structure of the offense, how we are running it, just strategically don't lend itself to the type of team and the type of QB we had (or thought we had). None of it made sense to me. I also go back to last year when we started out of the gate with this complex offense and than simplified it and saw Mitch take off (not saying he was great, but in terms of 2nd year QB's, he was pretty solid). For him to spiral so quickly out of control is crazy and I wish there was an ability to hit a reset button. If I reset this thing, I would have ran a much more conservative offense that protected the QB and put him in a position to more slowly grow and develop vs. straight up throwing him to the wolves. That is my big thing. What is done is done and maybe in the long run it was the best case scenario because it more quickly showed that Mitch can't do this...at the same time, it could be one of those things that broke a young QB and put them past the point of no return (I truly believe there is a lot of fragility and mental aspects to what allows young QB's to develop into good to great QB's vs. not so great QB's...even more so in this world of instant analysis and twittersphere OC's and QB Doctors). I also don't think Mitch's ability to throw accurately (throughout college and shown early in his NFL career...albeit issues certainly cropped up in his 1st year with Nagy) and to make plays with his feet (again in college and shown at the NFL level). How a confident QB broke down has a lot of blame to go a lot of ways. Just like I wonder what happens if Pineiro makes that kick and Mitch is talking about a good game and mentally its just a win that gets things headed in the right direction. I mean...look at Cousins...not saying he was a great QB, but 4 weeks into the season he was viewed as the worst QB in the league and than all of a sudden bam...he's back to looking like a borderline top 10 QB. Things can change really fast in the NFL. Unfortunately for Mitch, he's psychologically broken and no reset button will happen for him this year and at that point, he'll have shown too many major issues for any team to rely on him (in full) next year. Mitch will still be on the roster and who knows...maybe he'll show some absurd resiliency and come back an entirely new QB in a year (crazier things have happened) but he's going to have to win a gig over a legitimate veteran.
-
Yes - He does look bad and he has played bad. I've never seen a QB take such a big step back in one-year (where injury wasn't involved). I hate to defend him cause I know my posting comes off that way, I just think there are bigger questions than just Mitch. The things they are doing on offense are just horrific and the coaching staff has been a part of breaking Mitch. The good news is...Mitch has basically this season to show that he isn't a bust...if he doesn't, there is enough film the Bears can move on faster. Never thought I'd be posting this after the season he had. I expected ups and downs again this year, because I don't believe QB development is purely linear...but I never in a million years expected this. The guy is broken and pretty much all of it is in-between the ears. That is what annoys me so much...a so called QB whisperer broke a QB (and yes...Mitch is fully responsible for this too). Why they didn't run an offense to play to the Bears and Mitch's strengths just annoys the heck out of me. Than again, it could just entirely be Mitch too. It sucks and is what it is though...awful season and a mini restart for a franchise that doesn't have picks. These are the exact reasons why I am never a fan of mortgaging a franchises future and always believe you should do what Parcells does which is build up draft equity (so you always have actual flexibility without ever mortgaging the future heavily).
-
Tony - What reports are you referring to? Or are you more referencing to the "top secret" nature of how they ended up picking Trubisky?
-
Lol. When they had Cohen do that my wife literally looked at me and said...how stupid is your teams coach.
-
I really wish they drafted someone other than shaheen.
