  1. I'm not Jim, but I did see Stumm at the minor league camp fielding grounders when I was there about 2 weeks ago.
  2. Gamecube has all the sports games and since thats all I ever really play it wouldn't really bother me. Especially because the dvd player on mine is freaking lame as hell. Got one of the original ones and the color just changes constantly from light to dark while watching a movie. Then the fan broke, so I went in the back and fixed it. The first builds of PS2's sucked.
  3. Yes Jason and when thre Oscars are held all that police security will be there rather than protecting the public - traffic gets jammed, cops handling traffic at every Sox game all kinds of police are deployed to handle traffic rather than fight crime - and traffic tie ups happen when the president travels the tie ups of police personnal and traffic jams are horrendous the St Patricks Day parade pulls all kinds of cops off of usual duty for marching or for crowd control - favor locking the president in the white house and doing away with everything else, or are you just critical of deployed resources when it is people expressing their constitutional right to assemble? You read the rest of my post Vince. I said they have their right. At my school, I saw some of the anti war protesters and it was freaking ridiculous. All they were doing was dropping a constant stream of swear words. These are supposed to be people wanting "peace". How can you do that when you struggle to have a non violent protest, and I consider swearing at people who discuss things with you a form of violence, even if it isn't phyisical. Luckily, there aren't many protesters at my school. I'd have no problem with them if they weren't tryign to force their views on others with the approach that only they are right. I go through mine with the belief that I think I am right, but since I can't look into the future, then its not 100% that I am right, therefor, other people can say what they want, and I don't have to change their mind, although I can discuss the facts with them. I've also talked with a few of the protesters at my school, and they don't even know what this war is about. They keep talking about it being a war over oil. Then I say, hey, its not a war about oil, now that could be a underlying reason (I don't know, but I honestly don't believe it is a reason, if it is it is not the reason they are there and they would be their if Iraq had it or not), but when I bring up the Resolution and the fact that he's already using weapons that he supposedly didn't have, tells me that the US intell was right all along. This guy is keeping his weapons and he's a threat. How can a guy not be a threat if he's used the stuff on his own people. What kind of a sicko does that. That would be like one of us pointing a gun and whacking our family members (I'm sure Saddam wouldn't hesitate to do that either). How can you be in a peaceful society, when you have someone like that running a country with the capabilities of biological weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. You can deny the fact that he has biological weapons (but those missiles he used today were against what he was supposed to have and they are considered weapons of mass destruction). Then they say everyone is against the war, think of all the protests that happened so many times. Their are always people against anywar and they are typically more vocal then those in favor of it, simply because they are trying to change an opinion, while the people in favor of it, don't have to, because things are going similar to how they like them.
  4. Look at TCU, one of the biggest party schools in the country. Not saving everyone there parties, but thats supposed to be this Christian institution.
  5. As far as the protests goes, its there right but I'm worried that all of the cops dealing with the protesters is going to mean some cops aren't there to protect from an attack on us. Oh ya, I was watching tv and listening to the radio today and they mentioned that where there have been protests, in many cities those protesters have been drastically out numbered by those supporting the war waving the American Flag. Caught that on my drive to school.

    chopper goes down.....

Terrible news. My thoughts go out to their loved ones.
  7. No your right and I'm not pussy footing around it. I would go, I'm just against the thought that everyone should enlist for 2 years. I'm not saying those people that volunteer are the ones that should fight in bloody combat. No one should have to fight in bloody combat and I hope one day I'll be able to see society where it is entirely peaceful. Not likely, especially if we left people like Saddam in charge.
  8. But in essence you ARE asking me to drastically alter my life and postpone my development for 2 of the most crucial and greatest years in one's life...Such imprisonmnent doesn't sit well with me. Unless you LOVE being in the military. f*** no!!! Give me ONE reason why...and no, the Bush Oil War doesn;t count. So you are possibly comparing standing in a boat just before the D-Day, seeing your buddies mowed down one by one, soiling your pants in a catatonic state knowing that your body is about to be ripped apart by a dozen large-caliber machine gun bullets...to sitting in a classroom?! Common, that's just silly. I wasn't talking about DDAY, but if everyone had to be in it 2 years, many of those people would never see any combat, they'd just be in there, learning things, that some would find completely useless, I'd assume. Maybe they aren't as serious, cause your not likely to get killed because your a student, but I thought I made my point that some people aren't meant for somethings. We aren't raising everyone to be in the military, we want people with various skills.
  9. Well the main reason is the taxes, but our gas is refined different then all the other gas for pollution reasons. Its supposed to be cleaner burning then the rest of them. I dont' know exactly what they do, but they always keep it as clean as possible, so they have to process it specially for California. Its funny cause we actually get oil from California, while places in the midwest that have no oil have cheaper oil prices. Right now its 2.19 a gallon for the cheap stuff out here. Its pretty freaking ridiculous. When I was in Arizona it was 1.78.
  10. Its amazing down here in the area. I'm actually going to have to buy scalper tickets to go to a freaking Angel home opener. I have been to everyone since I was 4 years old so I am not about to miss this one. They had a lottery for who got opening day tickets. They only raised ticket prices by like an avg of 2 bucks and they were pretty much the cheapest in baseball last year. One new thing they added was buy 2 season tickets get 2 free. Also, if you don't attend a game with a mini plan or season tickets, you can turn them in and go to another game. At my school, I now see Angel hats. The Angels are now in position that they have a better fan base, and if they can do it a couple years in a row, they will have a dedicated fan base. The Sox need to do the same thing. Angels shedded the uniforms, Sox shed the name of a crappy owner whose name was represented on the stadium. Sox win the series this year!!!!!!!! Not because of that, but because of the talent this team has.
  11. Evans was a big fan of Majewski when we sent him to the Dodgers. At that time he was a solid starting pitching prospect. The only reason he isn't on the 40, is that typically teams don't carry many relievers on the 40 man roster. Well, not many minor league relievers. Right when we made the Baldwin deal, I was excited that we got Majewski back cause it was a guy that was pretty damn good with us, then struggled when he went to the Dodgers and our guys straightened him back up.
  12. I'll talk to Michelle and see if I can upload the pictures onto the server in the next day or so. May not be able to do it tonight, cause I got a test tomorrow. Then just post them all up here on the board, so everyone can see them. That of course is if its cool with Michelle
  13. Exactly right and exactly why Paul will never clear waivers. Those who say JP has contributed nothing are speaking with hyperbole; JP has not broken out as a star player by any reckoning, but he has played many games as a solid player on the team. He hasn't made the big mistakes. He has just failed to develop as we thought he would - his upward curve suddenly flattened at the point that we thought he would break out with increased development. cwsox, time to put your money where your mouth is........ What team would pick up JP? Who has a need for a catcher on their Major League roster? And don't say San Diego, because they already have two backups as good as JP. He is NOT a starting catching in the big leagues. SD needs a starting catcher. So let's hear scenarios of who would pick them up and why. Rex, I do think San Diego is a legit option. This team was dying last year with the lack of catchers. Having two backup catchers starting is nothing to be proud of. Especially considering that neither of them have ever proven they could handle the job. To be honest, Paul would probably be better then at least one of them, and what would it hurt to throw in a waiver claim and see what he can do. He's young, is quick for a catcher, and has hit decently at the major league level. He's no offensive wizard, neither is he a defensive one, but Why wouldn't San Diego take a risk, considering none of their current crop has shown that they are "starters" material. Another possibility, although extremely doubtful could be the Dodgers. They have LoDuca but after that its Hundley and you never know. THe problem is to put in the claim I think they have to be on the 25 man roster and the Dodgers wouldn't have room for that.
  14. Well, depending on the situation, if the US needed more people and they said so, then I would do my part. I'm a patriot. Do I want to fight in this war? No, but would I, YES. I don't want to fight in the war, because I'm not in the military, I almost went straight out of highschool, hoping to get into one of the military academy's, but had no luck. I slacked off too much in highschool. I'd be damn willing and do what the military thought they needed me to do. Personally, I'd think that would more likely be intelligence, but thats not saying I wouldn't go out and fight on the ground. I may get my ass whooped, but at least I know I'm a good shot or I used to be, haven't shot a gun since Boy Scouts ended many ions ago. Am I afraid of War, ya, but I think everyone is because there is a lot of uncertainty with it. Will I do my part, Hell Yes I would. Am I volunteering right now? No, but thats not because I'm a coward, I'm enjoying myself at school getting my education. Also, I'm not partying up a storm getting hammered while everyone is putting their life on the line, but even if people were, thats there right. Thank god we don't have to get forced into the military, thats like saying people should all be forced into college for 2 years, some people just aren't meant to do some things.
  15. But we're going to have so much oil after the Iraq War that drilling in BC won't be necessary It's not going to be America drilling it's going to be Canada. I know. My point was that since the liberals in America think that the Iraq War is strictly for oil..... and since America is the biggest consumer of fossil fuels..... then, since America is going into Iraq for the oil..... BC won't have any real reason to drill since America..... being the biggest consumer of fossil fuels..... will be using the oil surplus from Iraq, not BC. No demand for the oil, no reason to drill. Remember, We don't import much oil from Iraq. I think California is the state most effected by Iraqi oil, otherwise we aren't dependent at all on it. Plus the embargos set up allowed only a small % of oil to be exported at least to the US. We did start to allow more to be exported as long as they used the money to help the people and stuff like that. Thats what I read in the Wall Street Journal at least. Had to read the article for class, and I was glad I did. Quick question, the oil fires, how much oil will that country lose if they light up all the wells?
  16. For those of you that were there in 91 or have second hand stories from people close to you, I'd like to thank you. It was good hearing both sides of it, as I've obviously never been there. I've only been to Canada for one day and Tijuana, Mexico for one day, otherwise I've only been in the US, so I don't know in general what all happened there. One of my best friends dads was shot in the hand while flying a chopper during the Desert Storm, but he didn't really know much that happened with the people, cause he was in the air a lot of the time.
  17. Lol, I played one game. I probably will play one today and then won't touch it till after Monday. got a huge accounting test and an anthropology test in the next few days. Then I got next week and after that spring break, time to watch baseball!!!!!!!!
  18. Also, Al Jazera television is reporting that the US has bombed a school, hospital and something else, which is FALSE. The US has bombed some of Saddam's personal residences, but no schools. Its just another example of people lying and the thing is the people believe it. There are reasons we are hated there, and its the propaganda that gets spewed. Of course on the other side, I'm sure we here a lot of propagenda as well and it is effective. The US may say things like we are getting to their guys and they are surrenduring (The Republican Guards) and that could get all those guards to think twice and wonder who to trust, etc. US now controls Iraq's only seaport, I forget the name. Some Short Opinion As far as a little prediction, I think that Operation Shock and Awe is going to start around 3 pacific time, but there is a very good possibility that the US will wait till early morning so everyone sees the power (Early Morning Their Time).
  19. In regards to those missiles. They are reporting that they were missiles with a 100-125 mile range. These were the missiles that Saddam had destroyed a week or so ago, that type. These were missiles that were banned in Resolution 1441 that said that Iraq couldn't have any missiles that would fire from the range of 90 miles or greater and that list includes scud missiles, which intelligence shows they have at least two dozen of them. The missiles that he fired are like Al Rassus or something. For those of you that didn't believe he has the weapons, the missiles fired he was not supposed to have, and inspectors thought in the case of the couple fired yesterday that he had gotten rid of all of them. Obviously he was hiding stuff. One thing that the US is now semi worried about is the fact that they may of detected the stealths. Now they aren't undectable like many believe, but in no way did they believe that Iraq had this type of capabilities.
  20. as always...saddam's insane saddam saying bush is guilty of crimes against humanity It was ridiculous, like most of his speaches, such as him saying he wouldn't burn the oil.
  21. Won't have any review up for a couple days because I got a s***load of school stuff and work to do. Hell, I haven't even opened it up yet. Getting ready to play it right now.
  22. Its a good problem to have.
  23. I bet Crash was liking that moment.
