  1. Thank you. even if Santos misses a few kicks while he gets healthy, I'm willing to be patient.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Unless wheaton absolutely explodes in the next 5 weeks he is a goner. He is gonna get 5M next season, and he has one catch and i believe 3 drops, and has been injured for all but three games this season. I agree he's a goner, I just want to see more weapons for Trubisky to throw to (to get a better idea of his growth, etc).
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) I have to wonder how much is development. The Browns have actually done what you are supposed to do the last decade. THey have picked a lot, made good trades for picks. They've...drafted a lotta garbage. They've drafted a lot of garbage, but they've also had a consistent turnover in their front offices. New regimes have strong biases towards their players so if you are consistently changing regimes you are consistently turning over entire rosters, which just makes things so much harder to succeed. The best franchises have had long-term stability. Sometimes I legitimately wonder how much "smarter" the better franchises are then the others or if it is more they are just more patient and think more "long". You really put yourself at a disadvantage when you are consistently kicking people to the curb. Look at the Bengals (and yes, they suck this year), but they stuck with Marvin Lewis and their franchise was largely stabilized (especially relative to what it was). The Raiders could have axed Reggie McKenzie (and while they are having a bad year), early in McKenzie's tenure, they decided to stick with him and give him the "long" play and while the Raiders are struggling this year, their long-term track outlook still looks pretty positive.
  4. Like this move.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) They'll go top 5, but after we picked Trubisky people were saying we should have waited and tanked this year because at that time this was considered a possible 2003 QB draft. They'll be drafted high because the best QBs always do, but I don't think people feel they are can't miss like they used to. Agree with everything you said. I'm perfectly fine with Trubisky. He seems to be learning and that is a good thing. He needs a boot camp to get his footwork corrected when under pressure but he was so much better against pressure this week then any previous week. Lions D isn't that good, but he actually had a pretty high completion rate under duress this week and he got rid of the ball much quicker at times. Helped that Kyle Long was back (outside of that awful penalty). Marcus Wheaton was actually open those two bad throws from Trubisky...would be nice to get a Wheaton sighting as he has talent (imo). Inman makes the receiving corps so much better (not that it says much). They at least have two wideouts who are NFL players now (not counting Wheaton who has not been able to stay on the field). Any updates on White...we should see him back to practice pretty quick (if he has a chance at getting out there). Shaheen actually got me excited...showed some solid hands and playmaking ability. Also saw him make a couple nice blocks.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) The first thing they did in their press conference after getting home was to thank Trump. That the President is begging for this sort of validation is still beyond pathetic. The rest of the world knows how petty and easily influenced he is if you just puff up his ego a bit. I agree with this, but Lavar Ball was ridiculous (not that it should surprise anyone).
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) The President of the United States, tweeting that he should’ve left three collegiate athletes (and US citizens) in a Chinese jail because one of their fathers didn't display enough gratitude to him, is where we are when it comes to the office of the President. But you keep being greg. Come on...Lavar was a dumby. Let's not all put this back on the president (for once).
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 07:51 AM) I assume he’s playing since Peters got knocked out. Hopefully it’s a nice prequel to the Harbaugh era at soldier field. The only thing I don't like about the Harbaugh era is I presume that will be a complete "restart" because I can't imagine Harbaugh isn't going to want front office power. I do not think Pace is a bad GM. I think he has made some mistakes though...I'd love a Pace/Harbaugh combo if they would work well. I still think the concept of McCarthy getting canned is possible and I don't think he'd be the worst thing for Trubisky.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 07:43 AM) Crazy how this 2018 QB class went from can't miss to meh. If Bears are top 5 and the QBs stock for 2-3 is still high, they could do well to trade down and recoup. Looking forward to new coach. I think Pace hopefully is learning on job. But if I was fox I would be pissed over the kicker situation and the bargain basement hunting on cornerbacks. We wouldn't be a playoff team either year, but with a real kicker I could see 3-4 more wins on Fox's resume. Darnauld / Rosen still go top 5, imo. I am hoping one of the QB's is there when we are picking and we can move down to accumulate some picks. I really hope Floyd's injury is not as bad as it seemed.
  10. Outside of Floyd's injury, that was a solid game. Trubisky looked like he's making strides and we got close enough to blow it with a kicker who won't be around long-term. I still am a fan of continuity so I think it sucks we didn't take bigger steps forward this year, albeit, I still see us winning a few games late (given the schedule). Loggains called a much better game this week. I also will also stick to my guns that things could be worse...we could have handled our QB situation like Cleveland / Buffalo.
  11. Fantastic. Evidently we brought in Saintos for a workout. He'd be a great signing to replace Barth (even if he is coming off one good game...he still sucks).
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) I got to know Dan a little bit over the past several months, and I have to say, this is really unfortunate. White Sox baseball lost a bit of solid perspective today. Agreed; He seemed like a good dude and I wish him the best.
  13. This might be a little odd, but is it better to show GPA vs. class rank? I ask because I can't contribute. My school didn't have a class rank. I'd say I was probably top 10-20% with a school with about 1200 students. I am an Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis
  14. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Coach A: 24-7 in first 31 games at UM 2 wins vs OSU or MSU 1 NY6 bowl appearance Coach B: 24-7 in first 31 games at UM 1 win vs OSU or MSU 1 NY6 bowl appearance Coach A is Brady Hoke. Coach B is Jim Harbaugh. Hoke went 11-2 and then 8-5 and 7-6...and then laid a huge egg in his fourth season. Harbaugh is 10-3, 10-3, and 8-2 thus far. Pretty different trajectory.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2017 -> 07:40 AM) Defensively he is very competent. And he's shown nice burst...poor finishing around the rim, but I can see potential. He just isn't a good enough passer though and that is a problem, given his size. Our PG's suck.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) We will see if Hundley shows any improvement tonight after a bye week. He wasn't that good in his first start and the Bears D has been especially solid at home. He is one of those guys who has enough experience as a back-up (and there is little tape on him), that I could see him having a better than expected night. Of course I always liked Hundley coming out of UCLA (definitely raw as a passer, but really nice athlete).
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 05:52 AM) Hub said the other day, the Bears should be favored to win all their remaining games except 1. I'm somewhat excited for that game. Trubisky with a bye week...hopefully this doesn't turn into a big letdown.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) Schefter slightly changes his story @AdamSchefter Bengals and Browns actually agreed to AJ McCarron trade at 3:55 pm, per source involved. Bengals approved trade to NFL, Browns did not. Even more Browns being Browns.
  19. Is Landry a #1 or more like a really good #2? Any attitude issues?
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) The Pats got a high 2nd round draft pick for a guy who was gonna be an unrestricted free agent and they had zero chance of re-signing or franchise tagging. If Jimmy G is a stud or Father Time catches up with Brady sooner, then it will look bad. But as of right now, I don't see how you can say they lost the trade already. Jimmy G is a question mark and Brady is cruising along. They reportedly had 1st round offers in the off-season...now they are getting substantially less. They overplayed their hand (regardless of how Jimmy G ends up performing).
  21. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 07:04 AM) If Bears can land Landry that'd be pretty sweet. #1 weapon for Trubisky the last 8 games and first shot at re-signing him or tagging him. Is there a rumor out there? I would be interested in Ebron (for a very cheap price). That said, we need draft picks too. Anyone we have that people think we might trade? One of our DB's? I presume we won't make any moves, albeit, if there was a good young weapon we could get (more for next year since it is hard to use a system) who could grow / help Trubisky, I'd support.
  22. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 04:21 AM) If Bellicheck thinks Jimmy G will thrive in his system he would tell Kraft to pay the man for when Brady decides to hang it up. The fact everyone is sorta laughing at the Pats and praising the 9ers right now seems fishy, Pats are known to end up winning trades like these. We'll see. Pats lost this deal already. Everyone thinks everything the Pats does is gold but it really isn't true. Tom Brady covers up a lot. They have busted on some large FA signings and the Chandler Jones trade was no bueno.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 30, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) Yeah and kind of a waste for Patriots. They used a 2nd round pick to get him so the 49ers spent the same pick but get the Belichik experience for him. Bears should have waited Honestly...I'd have been exstatic if we acquired Jimmy G for a 2nd round pick in the past off-season, but I was a big proponent of going after Jimmy G. I think we'd be in a better position to contend right away (cause I do think Jimmy G is better then Glennon, etc) and we could have used our 3rd pick going another route. That said, I'm just happy we took a chance at addressing QB. You aren't going to become great ignoring the QB position and at least we took that chance. I'd take it again in a couple years if Trubisky was a bust. You got to invest in the position. That is the first step though, cause you then need to put him in a position to succeed (and reality is the Bears wanted very much to do that but had their hand forced by just how bad Glennon was...which in hindsight, who knows how bad he really was because these receivers truly suck).
  24. Fantastic move by the 49ers.
