QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) If something like that happened (it almost never does) then amazon has a system set up to rectify it that's pretty hassle free All systems get shipped via a distributor anyway. It isn't like the system you are buying from target/best buy wasn't already shipped. Amazon system is just shipped one additional time.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 07:40 AM) A lot of sellers perceive having more cash to put down as a sign of financial health, and they will just take that offer first because they believe it has a lesser chance of falling apart...nothing you can do in those situations but move on and keep your eye on it in case it falls apart. I can't tell you how many times the sellers of the house we bought rejected us...but I just kept at it and it ended up working out. Yesterday I sent out an email to our lender, our agent, and the seller's agent, inviting them to come by for drinks one night (because we promised them we would), and the listing agent replied back that she has received more than one call from disgruntled potential buyers who had offered more than us at some point in the process but had walked away after being rejected. So just be willing to move on, but also keep your eye on homes you lost out on just in case, because s*** does happen. The only real benefit to the additional money is that if the appraisal goes poorly, you probably won't have trouble financing still. However if you are a straight 10 or 20% down, you might run into that sort of difficulty. 10% or all cash, at the end of the day the buyer has a lot of potential outs either way.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) I think he was talking about, when you get in your car, NFC or BT activates, and at that point, you cannot do anything BUT make calls, answer calls, dictate texts/send them, or have texts read to you. And probably mapping for turn by turn, I'd assume. I think that's what he was talking about...though IMO, that's a bit too big brother for my tastes. To be perfectly honest, I understand we both tend to "defend" our chosen platforms a bit, but all things considered, we probably aren't very far on most of the things we discuss here, depending on the platform. Whatever mobile OS I use, however, I don't want it messed with by a carrier, or a manufacturer if they're a 3rd party. If/when I get an Android phone, it will be an Android phone, not a TouchWiz Sense Pseudo Google version full of Verizon/AT&T/carrier spyware. It's one of the few reasons I lean toward iOS still, they're phone software is just cleaner in this regard, and they update. Microsoft is a bit too new to the game, with hardware I still find lacking in comparison to what you can find on Android/iOS, and they lack support...their updates are slow too arrive and few/far between, unlike both iOS and Android, which get frequent update love. The Nexus brand phones also fall short, IMO, as they're not flagship devices, and often purposefully gimped. For example, no LTE on the recent Nexus...that was annoying, purposeful garbage, and there was no excuse for it other than to make manufacturers happy. I'm very very happy for the upcoming Google edition GS4/One, however, those have to be bought at full price, which is a lot of cash up front. But all in all, in a legit conversation, I bet you'd find we agree on a lot more than you'd think. That is exactly what I was referring to and my thoughts were really around it being an option. I'm not forcing people to do that, but if you want, you could turn that option on. Seems like a total no brainer to me and I don't quite understand why that functionality doesn't exist (or if it does, why its so f***ing difficult to do). Seems like we have all these stupid apps yet something pretty basic which I personally think would improve safety isn't really all that viable or simple to do.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) I think I misunderstood what Gage was talking about. I thought he was talking about how he can enable bluetooth + car mode in one action when you get in the car, which can be done through a single NFC tag action. He might have been talking about what you are talking about, which is pairing the phone with the car's bluetooth system. No. My phone is paired with my car's system. I can't do texting through it. I really flat out just want to have a button that turns off all texting while i drive. Like a driving function. Basically force myself to not know its coming. Ideally it would text me. Usually when I'm on my phone while driving its a conference call for work that I zone in and out of anyway but I hate seeing texts and having to debate whether i should look. That is what scares me and I want to just have a function that is a car function that just shuts that s*** down.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 12, 2013 -> 06:05 AM) That was probably the best 90 minutes I've seen the national team play since the 2009 Confederations Cup semi vs Spain. Michael Bradley is officially a world class player. And Jozy is playing himself (and AZ) into a pretty lucrative transfer deal this summer I believe. It will be interesting to see what JK does with Jones and Cameron. Cameron played a great game in the middle there alongside Bradley. Great game. They truly controlled the whole game. Jozy playing like he should. I hope he continues to build on this. Bradley played fantastic! Still...it was a crappy squad...so they have to keep it up and continue to get better! -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) More like 89-ish (towards the end of Celtics/Lakers) to 97 or so (before all your superstars drafted in the mid-80's like Hakeem, Barkley, Ewing, Robinson, ect started to retire/see a drastic drop in production). The late 80's/early 90's drafts kinda sucked and KG started the high schooler wave in 95. I would make a similar distinction around 2007 when you had the first two super teams and the guys from the stronger 2003 and on drafts started hitting their peaks. That "dividing line" is a lot messier though because a bunch of people drafted in the 90's (KG, Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, Pierce to name a few) are still going strong. League quality is definitely higher than early 2000's though, so there's a distinction somewhere. Those were the same arguments I was making. I was talking same era as you Zoom.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) some guy just called into the score and suggested the blackhawks get rid of patrick kane to keep brian bickell on the roster. meathead f***ing bandwagon pieces of s*** all of them. Trade Patrick Kane for the 2 games to be on NBC seriously....even I know how ridiculous that is. I swear Chicago is home to some of the dumbest sports fans in the country. -
Anyone use it? Thinking about buying it and reviews look promising. Live in an area where our cell signal is just shoddy so I think we are going to have to get something that works from home. Considered magicjack but don't like the fact that I have to have my computer on.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) There are a few things they can take from Waze, but I beg them not to over-clutter the app, and the primary issue I have with Waze is it basically encourages/requires real-time interaction with your device while driving. This bothers me. It's the last thing we need. Its ridiculous. That and the ABC News lady in the morning doesn't shut up about the Waze traffic reports. STFU and stop texting people. Why can't they have an app or mode on your phone where you can hit car mode and it will only allow incoming and outgoing phone calls through your blue-tooth and will read texts through bluetooth. Nothing else is even possible. I'd definitely use it (maybe it exists and I'm just too stupid to do it).

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:25 AM) It was a announced a few days ago. Check IGN. See two posts down...that is completely not the case. You can't go on ebay and hock it up for sale but there are ways to sell the game..e.g., through gamestop and I'm sure other outlets will come out as well. Now certain gaming companies can limit those rights but the question is for those companies, do they then opt to produce more content for Microsoft because of the fact they are getting more of a benefit?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:28 AM) http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/06/how-game...n-the-xbox-one/ I guess not as harsh as what I had said, but still pretty s***ty. Especially the inability to rent games. The other big question is, does micrsoft doing this (which truly is more of a benefit to the 3rd party producers), allow it to provide better and more exclusive game then Sony? And it seems to me that used games will be sold...its just a different avenue then previously.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2013 -> 08:14 AM) Yes, once you buy the game and install it it's linked to your system. It won't work anywhere else. You can't even let a friend borrow your game. I think the only part that is unclear is whether you can play the game on the same machine but with a different user (so two kids in the same household could play the game). Did this get announced yesterday? Everything I had read and seen is that Microsoft has been silent to this and people have taken the lack of coming out and making a stance as being indicative that they won't allow used games. Did they finally indicate such in yesterdays press release? I didn't think they did.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) Ive had both a PS3 and 360 at different times, I currently have a 360. As of right now Im not sure which console I will get. I think a lot of people are overreacting and Id like to get more details about each system before I go crazy for one or the other. Has microsoft truly confirmed it wont' play used games yet? Until you are closer to release, there is still a lot that could change and a lot will probably still change in the next day at the conference as more info comes out. As of this point in time...Sony is winning the battle...but there is a lot of time for last minute changes or PR saves to be made at which point it doesn't even matter. Microsoft could crush it in who they affiliate with for those looking for a whole home entertainment system and that could be the win. Still a lot of unknowns out there. Sony did a nice job though. Cheaper, no used games, doesn't require to be run 24/7. They would have secured victory if they provided a free service. That said, who knows whether they'd have actually turned a profit had they done that and if they have the right intel maybe they can charge and still win the battle (and get more money and coin).

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) I'll give you KG and Odom, but both of those guys aren't doing much of that anymore. I'm obviously getting a completely different definition from that phrase than you are. Aldridge does basically zero ball-handling, I have no idea where you're going with that. It's similar for Dirk and Cousins. Gasol is a nice passer, but he's not exactly going to kill you on the drive if he catches it in the high post. Hell, someone like Toni Kukoc fits that description better than most of those guys, and he was pretty marginal. Outside shooting has definitely changed things, but it's not like your average point guard is 6'7" now. Garnett was playing in the mid 90's and was a superstar by 97.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) They may. Im just saying that if the game is on at 8pm est, it may be beneficial if at the bottom corner of NBC it said "Check out NBCS for Hockey Finals". And I found the game, I looked it up online. Its not my first sports rodeo, Ive found much more difficult sporting events. I guess I would just maybe consider it somewhat of a problem. I know hockey fans knew etc, but we are talking regular joe sports fans, and I hate to say it, but NBCS isnt a channel I think about. And thats the irony, both the NHL and NBCS would greatly gain from having more exposure. You aren't a sports fan Badger. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) You knew it existed before today, as you already said you tried to find Detroit/Chicago games. I call bulls*** that you NEVER heard of it. Had you heard of Versus before? Because that's essentially the same channel. The name NBCSN hasn't been around too terribly long, I will give you that. Anyway, what would you like them to do? Wave a magic wand and have everything on ESPN or Fox? We get that they don't have the best TV deal of all the major sports. Considering the circumstances, it's pretty damn good, and will only get better. You said it yourself - where do you expect them to be after 2 lockouts? I guess it's all relative. After watching games in college on OLN, having your own network that makes hockey #1, shows a s***load of games, every playoff game on TV and games on NBC is a dream scenario right now. I had heard of vs. and I already said in this thread until today I had no idea NBCS was previously versus (and OLN before that). And I found out about NBCsports when I tried to watch one of the Blackhawk games (can't remember if it was game 5 or 6) and couldn't find it. For all I know it was game 7. And i am dead honest that I had never heard of it. Why would I have. I don't watch a lot of regular season games (with exception to the games on NBC from time to time on the weekends or occasional Ducks vs. Blackhawk games that are televised out here). -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) I am in marketing, actually. Sometimes marketing doesn't make the important calls, but I'll tell you what, the exposure the network is giving the NHL would be a marketer's dream. Great for the network...duh...but for the NHL...not so much. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) The reason for the two games to be on the NBC Sports Network is not due to NBC's summer lineup of reruns. It's due to NBC smartly putting money in sports and a network that is going to be very huge very soon. It's as if no one here understands that the NHL and NBC have a partnership. No one gave a F*CK about the NFL Network until it started getting games. Now it's available everywhere. It'll be huge when it lands some major sports. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Haha, okay. You know who knows it's there? Hockey fans (and other sports fans). Ok...so I'm a pretty big sports fan. I had absolutely no idea that NBC sports existed until today. Why the hell would I? Outside of the NHL (which I fully admit to not follow regularly until the playoffs and sadly I know more then a lot of people about the NHL; I know whose on what teams, whose doing good, etc, i just don't watch the games), they broadcast C conference college basketball and football games and MLS games. Not exactly anything mainstream? And the point isn't about hockey fans knowing its there, it is about if business and as a league you are far less likely to get the casual watching that will draw increased ratings and potentially push up advertising. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) No, the only people who should ever watch the Blackhawks are people who watch every single game. Casual fans generate zero revenue for sports teams. If only die hard fans watched, modern sports watching and fandom wouldn't exist cause the leagues wouldn't exist or would be really really s***ty cause the best talent would be elsewhere.
