Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
Chisoxfn replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Delgado is fine if they think they are moving Danks too. However, I want some position players in the deal as well. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:33 AM) He's much thinner than the Big Unit...that's another part of the concern. Johnson was always THIN, but not RAIL THIN. Their arm angles are practically identical.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:13 AM) LOL, Carmelo does all that to wind up in New York and you expect him to leave. If he wants to win a title, he just might.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) Or LaMarcus Aldridge, or Kevin Garnett, or Kobe Bryant, or Pau Gasol or 2000 FA or 2010 FA. I'm getting sleepy just thinking about the Bulls post-98. This is a terrible organization that lucked into the lotto one year and is too incompetent to take advantage. #butweplayhard They aren't terrible. They are a good organization, however, have failed to capitalize. Clearly they have built one of the better rosters in the league. However, Gar has shown a complete inability to get a major move done. Paxson/Gar have both shown a good eye for talent, Paxson was the superior GM though as he was able to accomplish a lot and make some relatively major moves during his tenure.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) Unless the NBA lets Thibs put a shock collar on Monta that gives him 10,000 volts every time he takes a bad jumper, overplays a passing lane or slacks off defensively, I wouldn't expect miracles. How about Butler plays a full year before you toss him on the trash heap? He was a useful player last year that played on both ends of the floor. Every contender has at least one questionable player in the starting lineup, and Butler could easily be better than "questionable". I really like Butler, however, I still think the Bulls are going to look to move Deng and Butler might ultimately end up sliding into that role (I have zero problem with Jimmy B starting; extremely efficient young player who plays above average defense, rebounds well, and is a very efficient scorer with an improving jumper).

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 08:12 PM) I'll be pleasantly surprised if he's available in the next 3 weeks. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5835542.story If he's already throwing from 45 feet, I'd say he's on pace for about 10 days from now.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) Ellis sucked last year. But stop it. The Bucks were never a good fit for him. And he's clearly better than Nate. Ellis shot 36.1% on nearly 5 attempts per game his last full year at GS. If he could do that, combined with his ability to put the ball on the floor and his defensive ball-hawking (he's usually in the top 10 in steals), he'd be much more impactful than Nate. Problem is that Rose is not a true PG and ball-dominant as f***. Could he adjust his game? I doubt it. Ellis game was at his best when he had other good/decent players around him. He hasn't had that in some time (and Jennings doesn't count). Bucks were going to let those guys just run wild and jack up shot after shot. I do think you have a valid point and am not suer if he could adjust his game but maybe he wants tow in and this Bulls team has a lot of veteran leadership which could set the tone (plus Thibbs is just such a good coach). I'd take my chances cause it would be really nice to have another player on the roster who could create.

Having Donovan back is beautiful. He's so damn good with the ball for a US player. -

I don't know that I"ve ever seen a US team have the ball this much during a game. Belize is just awful though. US is starting to look lazy. Seems like they could get 8 goals if they kept the pressure on. -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) Nate seriously was better last year. Don't let Monta's high usage rate fool you, Robinson's PER was a point higher, his TS% was like 5 points higher and he the same points and more assists per 40 than Monta did and a lower turnover rate. Now you can say that Nate usually isn't that good, but a $10 million a year player shouldn't be remotely comparable to a veteran minimum guy. I'm not talking about one season...talking about a career here. I'm not saying Ellis would be perfect but depending on what you give up, he clearly would make the Bulls a better team. I'm sick of the Bulls cheap attitude. They could have had Mayo a year ago (which would have been better then Hinrich). Gar just can't execute the transactions. Very smart basketball wise and a good judge of talent...can't execute big moves though (and I'm going to say that until proven otherwise).

Don't like Fox's coverage near as much as ESPN's. I am digging these results though. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) Nate Robinson can do what Monta does for a hell of a lot cheaper (with better 3 point shooting to boot). And you don't have to start him or give him starter's minutes on top of that. Not near the defensive liability as Nate (and that isn't a compliment to Monte). Nate is just a disaster on D though. Ellis is much better then Nate. Nate is the better shooter though. Lets not compare a guy who is a 20 PPG scorer with 5-6 APG over multiple NBA seasons to Nate. Not fair.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) I was reading RealGM and nitetrain said they were offering Boozer, Teague, and draft picks. Hinrich wasn't going anywhere. Where is that from? That would be an interesting move? I wonder if that would have opened up a way to land Aldridge (albeit the Blazers demands have been insane). Maybe they think they can get Pau. I don't know that trading Boozer for Ellis makes the Bulls better (even though I realize everyone thinks losing Boozer is addition by subtraction).
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) I don't think it's really a money thing. It's more of a philosophy thing. The Bulls FO is just extremely conservative. Any deal that doesn't vastly improve the team just won't be done. My problem is, this is the Bulls. This isn't the White Sox who don't generate massive revenue. Bulls are one of the most profitable NBA franchises in the league and a total cash cow. I'm tired of seeing other franchises willing to get better by purely taking on some contracts.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:03 PM) All he can really do is give the Bulls a second scoring option when Rose isn't playing. If anything, getting Ellis would be taking playing time away from Butler. I love the idea of the Bulls FO actually doing SOMETHING that isn't a low-profile signing or a irrelevant trade, but this wasn't what I really had in mind. Between Deng, Rose, Butler, and Ellis, there would be plenty of minutes to go around, imo. Especially since Hinrich would have to be going elsewhere. Now if the trade invovled Mrotic or the Bobcats pick, count me out.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Ellis a good player but he is a bad jump shooter. He would not help the Bulls with spacing when he is in the game with Rose. When I watch Ellis, I always thought of him more as a guy who would be a solid shooter, if it weren't for the fact that he takes a lot of really bad shots. Statistically though, he probably is what he is, which is a lousy long distance shooter so he probably doesn't help with the spacing. Definitely gives the Bulls one other guy who can create offense (which they'll need against teams like Miami when someone like LBJ guards Rose).
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 09:00 PM) I like Ellis. But he'd have to really change his game to fit in with a team like the Bulls. He'd be ideal on a team like Denver or, of course, GS. I like him because he gives the Bulls something they don't really have. Plus, unlike other Bulls fans, I don't give a s*** if Uncle Jerry has to pay some luxury tax. You have a team thats close...pay the f***ing tax and do whatever you can to get the roster better. I'm sick of falling just short. We have a star, lets do whatever we can to continously make the team better. I'd love to see what Jerry Buss (RIP) or Cuban would have been able to do the past two years (knowing they'd have been open to spending money for a championship). Jerry is only spending if it is a total no brainer (vs. just makes them somewhat better). If it makes you better, do the deal...case closed. If it fails, as long as you aren't completely stupid in the money you give out, you can always sell and get other assets, etc.
-
Artest apparently interested in the Bulls. I assume he'd be willing to take close to the league minimum (and wouldn't get past the amnesty waivers). Might not be a bad depth move. Nice defender off the bench.
-
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22877...uit-Falls-Short WTF - The Bulls were the frontrunners from Monta? Get the f*** back on the phone GAR/PAX. Figure out a way...pay the f***ing tax. Monte is an excellent fit for this squad (assuming he can play within the offense and Thibs can teach him some defense). He should really allow the Bulls offense to spread out and I'd anticipate he'd get a lot of open jumpers with Rose. He could also get some minutes at the back up point and gives the Bulls two solid ball handlers. Wonder who the Bulls were trying to trade? I assume Hinrich would have been involved.
-
You wonder if it has to do with who needs to be showcased, etc or if it is more on moves that are about to come up. Very interesting. I keep waiting for the first move to be made.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) There is literally zero excuse remaining for Jay Cutler not to have an all pro season this year. If he can't do it this year, he can't do it. Except for being in a brand new offense for like the 4th f***ing consecutive year. Its asinine how much this team has f***ed with him and mismanaged the offense.

Donovan with two goals in his return with the national team as well. I'm hoping he can gel as this is the first time he's ever been able to play with two guys up front that are playing as good as Dempsey/Altidore. This US squad seems to really be gelling but a lot can happen between now and the World Cup (and first we need to take care of business and wrap up the qualifiers). -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 12:14 PM) If anyone believes the Lakers would genuinely have given up Kobe, I have a bridge to sell them...but yes, that one was the talk. And if that one could have happened and didn't then that was a mistake. Yes, Harden would look good on the Bulls, but as was just pointed out, the Bulls simply did not have an expiring contract to offer up for him while the Rockets did. The Thunder wouldn't have taken on Deng or Noah because that would have put them in Luxury tax territory this year. From what I always heard the deal was done and Jerry Buss nixed it after having a phone conversation with Kobe last minute. Bulls were going to announce a press conference and a Kobe Bulls jersey had been made.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) You skipped DeAza and Lindstrom. A guy like Lindstrom for only $500 K is a bargain, veteran experience, former closer...he's not far off from Jason Frasor, and a much cheaper contract. Frasor was mostly garbage for us. Agree they have value but I don't think they have as much as the other guys.

Somewhere between $13.3M and $14M is what it would take (which is the average of the top 125 players salaries).
