  1. Hunter scares me. But I especially don't want to face Pujols this inning. Lets get Torri and then let Dunn win it for us!
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) Wow, keep walking #9 hitters guys. I swear one of those pitches called a ball was a strike. That said, we got one last inning. Trout...He gawn. Another one out of the zone called strike 3.
  3. Getting tougher. Back end of the order and then the superstar, Trout. Come on Thorty.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:16 PM) What in the f*** are we do to about Gordon.... Honestly, that was one of his better at bats. I just don't' get how he can swing and miss so many mediocre fastballs. Its pathetic.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) We would have had this game easily had Humber just gotten the third out in a few innings. I was really puzzled tonight. Humber had really good movement on his stuff and he just failed to close the inning way too much. Angels batters took some very good pitches, but still, this was one of the better pitched 6 run outings I'd seen. At the same time, it wasn't, way too much dinking for a guy who had really good movement on the cutter and who threw some good curves. As a whole this was the best I've seen Humber look since he went on the DL (even though the results were poor). Still, at some point, the consistent poor production (2 out of his 4 starts since coming off the DL have been poor) is going to get him canned. I keep hoping he gets back to doing what he did last year (or even close) but who knows at this point.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 08:09 PM) Whew, that hasn't been a strike the last 3 innings. That was an awful call. Crain looked good though. Really nice velocity and good command of that slider.
  7. Pretty crazy how far he has fallen. I enjoyed is tenure with the White Sox. Even though he wasn't very good with them, he was exciting and had a fun personality.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) The only three possibilities are LAD, DET, and CHW, because Kenny's in that mode. Texas would still be interested, imo. And depending on how there talks went, it seemed as if they were willing to take on the contract, just not so willing to give up a lot of talent on top picking up the salary. If I were to bet, its the Rangers.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 02:47 PM) He was our 21st pick in the 2011 draft, so probably not. Houston's GM tried to say the PTBNL was a big part of the trade, but it really doesn't appear that way. Yep. It was that comment that had me worried, but now I can breath a sigh of relief. For all I know the guy can turn into a Liriano, but right now, he was nothing more then a guy with a limited chance at every making the show. The Myers deal really looks good (on the diamond). There are still the personal issues that I have a problem with.

Are there going to be some cool 150 anniversary things going on? If so, this might be the perfect time for me to finally go see Gettysburg, etc. I am a total history buff.
  11. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) Just thought of this idea while in the john. You always hear about how it is disappointing that certain outstanding, classy players never received a world series ring. I thought about honorary degrees given out by colleges. How about something similar in baseball. However, to make it more fun than just giving it to the player why not figure out a way to have the recognized player play/coach for all 30 teams during one regular season. For instance, we can use Jim Thome. in 2013, Thome spends at least one game on the active roster of every MLB team in baseball. To make this easier, maybe a rule change. You can have 26 guys on your roster if Thome is your 26th guy. Can you imagine what an honor and how much fun a guy could have playing for every team and wearing every team's uniform. Interacting with every team's players, coaches, and fans. I know that this idea would need somE improvements to it. But what do you think of the basic idea? You need to earn a championship.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 10:14 PM) Gabby Douglas was a joy to watch tonight. It was a compelling show with the Russian runnerup devastated when the results were announced. The Russian girl was clutch on the floor routine. She did a great job knowing she had to be nearly flawless to get the gold. She still fell short, but it was an impressive performance under pressure.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) What a stupid f***ing tiebreaker. Basically whoever has the lowest score on a routine wins if there is a tie? That makes no damn sense. It kind of does, it rewards the person who had the best 2 scores. I can see the argument go both ways, but by rewarding this, you reward the best scores vs. the consistent but maybe not as elite score. Sucks for either girl, but they both controlled there destiny and had made costly mistakes.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) I'd be furious at my players for being so lazy on screens. Agreed. This is the olympics, you should be playing your assess off the whole game and it is important to make a statement. I want this team to wipe the floor against the competition.
  15. Great write-up. I really enjoyed his comments on Beckham and Rios. And Mike, totally agree with you. I see him saying he doesn't watch film, yet what I hear, it sounds like a guy that knows the mechanics. He might not stress them as much in certain circumstances and I definitely enjoy the fact that he emphases approach as it really is one of the big differentiators offensively.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) My reaction was dead wrong so far as well. When you get pissed, good things happen. Danks > McCarthy. Ventura > Ozzie.
  17. I'm in town for the Mariners series (that weekend).
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:31 PM) At the end of the day, a lot of people, probably millions, think that the CEO of Chick-Fil-A is being discriminatory by sending millions of dollars to organizations that are trying to maintain gays as 2nd class citizens. These millions of people would rather not spend their money at a business where the owner is going out of his way to make sure that a large swath of our population is denied basic rights. Apparently this is hard to understand for some of you in here. I fully understand it and have no issues with those that have this stance. And I wish more people would take a stand when they disagree with something. I might have my own belief in this matter, which I'm entitled to (and it is more of an indifference, primarily because I focus more on the local store owner vs. the ceo). If I had an ultimate choice, I'd find a way to ensure none of my money went to the CEO and all of it went to the franchise owners. I also wish people would quit watching Jersey Shore and 16 and pregnant so stupid people can quit getting lots of money and fame. Note: I voted for prop 8 (or whichever the vote was in support) and I will continue to vote for and support gay rights. If two people are the equivalent of "married", they should get the exact same rights as a husband and wife. Exact same.
  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) This might be your best post ever. You stayed on topic, no weird tangents and it actually made sense. What's wrong with you? And he didn't even talk about Viciedo (who, while not a rookie per say, really is a rookie in the sense that this is his first year as the starter).
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Liriano $11 million > Gavin $9.5 million > Peavy $18 million Gavin has been better then Liriano the past 3 years, collectively speaking.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) It looks as if Flwoers called for quite a few offspeed pitches from Reed in the 9th. Reed's two biggest weaknesses on the mound right now are his unability to effective throw to the different quadrants, as almost everything is at the belt unless it's a change-up. As for his slider, he's not getting a lot of outs with it as he's starting it over the plate and hitters are letting it slide right out of the zone for a ball. I'd like to see him tweak his slider to try and get more downward movement/tilt. I've really liked what I've seen from Flowers. I think he has a future as a solid everyday catcher.
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) Read the box score and all you see is numbers. I don't much carfe if it was a bloop or not it was ahit and then there was a walk and two stolen bases Thats the problem with the box score. Either way look at the stats and he has a good WHIP and good strikeout to IP ratio.
