QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 05:41 AM) He was popping his fastball from 92-96. He had plenty on the ball. Of course that was in the first inning when he actually threw a couple of good fastballs. IT was also the only inning he threw anything remotely close to the inner half of the plate.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:41 AM) What team is going to take on 2 years and 23 million dollars for an aging choker with a .500 lifetime record? We'd have to eat about half of the money to get rid of him IMO. I'll call BS on this. Tons of teams would take Javy Vazquez, even if he gave up 20 runs in his last outing (assuming he's healthy). Not only would the Sox be able to move him without eating his contract, they'd be able to get prospects in return. Sure he wet the bed but he still has plenty of value on the open market if the Sox did in fact want to trade him.
-
That was a dissapointing performance. Javy became his typical wussy self where he lived on the outer half of the plate and because of such anything that even remotely came over the middle got hammered (since a hitter had no worries about an inside pitch). Inside pitch, what is that? God Javy pisses me off like no other. I swear I just don't get it. He gets so afraid and wets the bed because of it.

Thats awesome...thank you.

ChiSport: Twins/Sox Game 1 Preview I'd post the whole thing in a quote, but the article has a bunch of stats that get jumbled when you copy/paste things.

Does anyone know of a site where I can find the career hitting stats of a team (ie, all of the batters currently on the team) vs a particular pitcher?

Wasn't that two seasons ago when he took the job at the college?

I haven't heard them, but there is a chance I'm going to be consulting for the FDIC in regards to the bank shut-downs which are going to happen. I get to find out in a couple weeks. That said I don't have any inside info but I haven't seen anyone on Wall Street speculating about Compass going under.

So the only way you can see Friday Night Lights is if you have DirectTV? Thats just lame.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) I heard this is tomorrow, but is there a link to follow? I looked on the Sox site, and can't find any. I need 1 more ticket. Tony, you shouldn't have

This has been a surprisingly entertaining Monday night game thus far. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 04:51 PM) Anyone think this could be the beginning of the end of Javy's White Sox career? Not really, even with his ups and downs he gives innings and typically keeps the club in the games. Plus his contract is what I'd call affordable given his performance. The only way I could see him elsewhere is if the Sox dealt him for some significant parts.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) I agree with you. Orton has been way off. If we had a better line I would want Rex in there. But, I just do not like the pass protection when we go for the deep ball. 1 More thing to add to my negatives: Rashied Davis. Go back to the Arena League! That missed catch cost us the game. (it was a great pass too) Everyone talks about the Tillman play, I'm not mad at Peanut given the circumstances. I'm pissed at davis . Rex is a pretty damn good QB with a solid rushing attack. Last year he didn't have it and was exploited but this season he'll have it and I think he could be pretty productive. I wouldn't be shocked to see Rex starting in Atlanta, especially if Orton has a horrid game against Philly. Also, starting against Atlanta would be a good move cause it gives him a spot to go against a poor team (even if they are 2-1), plus its a road game so it would give Rex a shot to win over the fans support to an extent. -
Al Davis rises from his crypt and fires Lane Kiffin

The sad part is the Raiders are headed in the right direction. They are a 7 win team, imo. I'd say they had an outside shot at the playoffs but they will have to play 4 total games against San Diego & Denver who are both head and shoulders better. However, put them in the NFC West and they are a playoff team. Heck, I think they would have a chance in the AFC East (Pats aren't good, Jets are way over-rated and Buffalo is solid but Oakland has shown they could play with them). Al Davis is a complete fool though. -
I understand the need for a bail-out. As much as I'd like to tell every bank out there to F off, the reality is if we do that we'd really be asking for a complete financial meltdown. However, I think things need to be done to ensure that this is a one time thing and that banks can't just expect the gov to jump in anytime they do something completely stupid. That said I'm not a proponent of leaving this up to the White House or anyone like that. This should be dealt with by the Fed Bank and those with key banking knowledge.

I hope this doesn't push energy back up and if it is going to, can anyone please look into the future and let me know cause I will throw some money into the energy sector.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 07:16 AM) THANK YOU! I'm not going to lie, that post was one of the funniest one's I've seen all year.

I wouldn't mess with OC right now. He's absolutely raking.
-
Very Cool!!!
-
I'm glad Ozzie isn't just sitting around. I hope this motivates Javy to go out and be "agressive". When he uses both sides of the plate he is absolutely dominant. The problem is he rarely is agressive which means he's just trying to pinpoint stuff over the outer half of the plate. He'll fall behind and hitters will be able to lean over and hit him.
-
Ozzie, It's Time for a Change By Jason Gage ChiSport.com Those are my suggestions, but do you guys/gals think it's time Ozzie makes a move? The Sox are about to play there biggest series of the season and I don't think Ozzie should just sit back and hope the slumping guys heat up. I think he should be proactive and make sure the best hitters are getting the most ab's.

Please Javy...man up and dominate. And offense, please show up!!! Lets go WHITE SOX!!!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 06:40 AM) Our scouts need to be fired immediately if they thought Kenny's kid was worthy of a 6th round pick. He could end up in the hall of fame for all I care, but he'd still have been there for us to pick if we had waited another 10 rounds. Kenny has the athletism of a top 10 round pick. However, that would have been if you were drafting him out of high school. He had a failed collegiate career and has shown very little "baseball instincts". It is one thing to draft a raw high school player or a raw collegiate player but they have to show at least something and Kenny didn't show enough to go top 10. I wouldn't have taken him anywhere in the top 15 rounds but after that he would have been a solid pick given his pure athletism (despite his lack of baseball ability).

QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 05:37 AM) Yeah, but it isn't likely with those two guys after the years they've had. If Paulie finishes strong and has a decent post-season he could be traded with ease and for good value. Teams would look at his early season struggles and go those were due to the injury he had suffered. When healthy Paulie has consistently been an above average first baseman and would be an asset on a team looking to upgrade there offense at 1B (when productive, his contract is very fair). The bigger question is do you trade a healthy Paulie or do you move Swisher? I guess it depends on what Swisher's value is. If Swisher somehow has any value I would consider moving him (of course you'd be selling him with completely low stock). He clearly has some good tools but as a first baseman I don't know if Swisher would ever be able to produce at league average, let alone above average.
