  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 12, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) Are they blaming the refs for Vancouver going 1-5 on the power play or for Roberto Luongo playing like Stevie Wonder in the net? Exactly. Vancouver got schooled last night. Period.
  2. Who is selling, and who is buying? That would go a long way in proving your theory.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) Kap, it is still weird to see Torch involved in putting a team a series away from the Stanley Cup finals, but I will take it! HELL YEAH, BRING ON DETROIT b****ES!!!! FINAL f***ING FOUR!!!! Yes, I kept thinking that every time I'd see Torchetti behind the bench. Duds still has a big role with the team as well. Like I said, I'd MUCH rather watch Chicago play Detroit then Vancouver play Detroit. At least Chicago will make it fun to watch. And as bad as I hate Detroit in anything, I want to see the Hawks spank the wheel right off their f***ing jerseys. I'm just disappointed for Hordi because this is the best team he's played on and he played a pretty good role in this series. He's finally stepped up in the playoffs, which was good to see.
  4. I can honestly say that I have never seen Luongo look this bad. NEVER. I'm happy that Chicago is moving on, but sad for my buddy - but even better, no more Canadian teams left! And I would love nothing better then to see these guys beat the f*** out of Detroit.
  5. Wow, this is something else. Chicago has all the luck despite penalties, and various D problems tonight.
  6. Nice goal by the Hawks fourth line there... It is really unusual to see Luongo get beat glove side like this tonight. But they've seen something on the tapes because they keep going there.
  7. I bet you're more pissed at Hordichuk. He's having a good series - sans his worst penalty in three years in game one. Man, I have such a hard time - I want my friend to do well, yet, I am really enjoying the play by the Hawks. Just as I type this, 4-3 Vancouver.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ May 9, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) Well, not bias for bias sakes, I think themes. Okay, I mean, eliminate balance - not meaning you don't give the other side an opportunity to respond should there be two sides in a story - rather, just because you write a negative story doesn't mean you have to balance it with a positive story. I think what I appreciate is the idea of a theme the paper hammers. The best stuff that happened in the tribune was Blago, OBama-Rezko and (back a little) the death row inmates scandal. They took a while to develop, but it was stories the Tribune owned and it forced politicians to answer for them. I wish the same effect could be had of Daley. So my question is, why don't you think that could happen re: Daley? Wouldn't the Trib (in your example) make a s***ton of money off of a top-blower of a Daley corruption scandal, or would they lose more money by doing it because no one would scoop them on anything else?
  9. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 9, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) I thought you weren't going to post on the political board anymore. You all loved it too much when I didn't.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 8, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) Yawn... where do you draw all these ridiculous conclusions about me from? Find me an example where I've done something like whatever you're talking about (I'm not even sure I know to be honest), ever. The first sentance is for you. The rest is collective, not necessarily you. However, you did make the comment that I commented about.
  11. I think the term he uses (activist) for media is what is important. But, what is an activist? Someone who wants to actually dig for the truth, or only stop at what the surface will tell you? And behind that, if they stop at the surface, at the heart of it all, what profit can this generate a newspaper? I would contend that "lazy" journalism is the cause of the tendency toward biases. It's too easy! I think integrity AND the ability to accurately describe a story is a lost art. Editorial staff changes and such are probably pretty important, no? How much influence does editorial staff play in these decisions? I would hate to think that we need to have "bias" beyond what exists. It's sort of a sad thing, to me.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 8, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) I don't buy that - who are they mocking with sarcasm? Themselves? Who else says things like that? Oh come on. Use your brain and take the lib goggles off for a minute. - you are way smarter then this post. They are using sarcasm as a means to show Obama "being one of the common folks" by mocking his mustard selection. OF COURSE no one gives a s***, including them, they are only making a sarcastic tone about it. But since it's a "conservative" (quotes for bmags) of course they are asshats and dickheads and b****es who are drop dead SERIOUSSSSSSSSSS about this. Please. You all want so bad to villify the other side when people hide behind their "comedy" by mocking the same exact s*** by "conservatives". And, Hannity, Ingrahm, Limbaugh, are NOT news sources, you all are REALLY quick to remind us all of that.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ May 8, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) And for the record, clearly, CLEARLy, the most eggregious thing was ordering a burger medium well. WTF. Ketchup on a burger is disgusting. Spicy mustard is soooo much better. So 1/2 ain't bad. Nothing gets more tiring than the equivocation done by the "conservatives" on this board. And the hypocritical part is you all do the same damn thing. But you hide it by straw man arguments.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) So they weren't making fun of Obama for liking Dijon? They actually don't find anything wrong with that and it was just an attempt at some random humor? Take it how you want to, but I can clearly see that it was humorous to them by the way they said it. And I shouldn't have said "feeble mind". Sorry. I edited my post.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) FYI - They are comedians on Comedy Central. FYI - they do the same damn things that Hannity, Limbaugh, and Ingrahm do - it's called sarcasm... but of course in your mind that makes the Comedy Central stuff ok. I see, it's different somehow. See, they get to hide behind that "comedy" thing when in reality it is exactly the same thing.
  16. This is Obama's war. Why is he killing innocent civilians? /just repeating the company line of liberals everywhere with only one word change.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) Obama is an elitist for ordering spicy mustard instead of ketchup. This is the excellent political commentary I've come to expect from Hannity, Limbaugh, etc. "I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: 'O Lord make my enemies ridiculous.' And God granted it." -Voltaire And if Colbeeeeeeeeeeert and Stewart would have done the same thing, it would be the funniest s*** ever.
  18. While not really vitally important, who was on that plane? There was probably a nice group of campaign contributors, I would imagine. I'm sure by now if this was Bush right before he left office, we would have every memo/related conversation leaked that there was. And "Obama furious" is bulls***. I'm pretty sure he had to know, if I understand Air Force One protocol.
  19. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Greinke, Zack. /thread (at this point of the season, anyway).
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) I've often wondered this. Madison certainly supports their IHL (or whatever league it is now) team. Milwaukee would probably cherish the opportunity to see NHL games. Madison hasn't had a team for a while... they went under as a UHL franchise for lack of attendance. With that said, they operated like a bunch of morons. Minnesota and Chicago have a huge influence to NOT locate a franchise there. Milwaukee has done well in the IHL/AHL for a while, and that is where they will stay. I could see Winnipeg getting their franchise back - but the caveat there is the arena they built is pretty small. They would sell out every game, though, and with the salary cap/revenue share, it's actually a viable market again. Southern Ontario (Hamilton, specifically) is probably a good fit as well. I think they should relocate Florida and Phoenix back north. It won't happen, but we could hope. It would definitely strengthen the overall NHL as we know it today.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) He's not my favorite player in the world right now. Awww, really?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:38 PM) Obama is not running for President either... I know, I know.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2009 -> 06:53 AM) They gotta make their money before their patent runs out and you can get 200 for $5 and America will be renamed BONER LAND
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) I don't know, not if labor backs Specter. They are pretty big in PA. SoxfaninPA big. Ridge says he is not running for the Senate seat.
