  1. QUOTE (Molto @ May 19, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) He has a forced fastball, in my opinion. I don't think his arm will take much major league mileage. Of course, it's all moot if he's changed since spring training, but I doubt it. If that's true, he's trade bait. This summer.
  2. Is the PS3 downward compatible (play PS2 or even PS1 games on a PS3)?
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) Pedro is the greatest pitcher of the past twenty years and he did most of his best work on some horrible teams. Maddux is second. If Ryan had the command of either of them, he hands down would have been the greatest to every pitch the game and he had some of the best pure stuff and obviously one of the rubberest arms ever. The game's different. Ryan didn't HAVE to have pinpoint control because he could throw whatever he wanted to get an out. Ryan threw a lot of crap that people swung at and missed. The scouting was different. You didn't have 85 videographers taking every possible arm angle and analysing it for tipping pitches. You get the idea.
  4. They are 100 times worse here (Dallas). It's just brutal for about 6 out of 12 months here.
  5. I'm not saying right from wrong, it was just a thought I had. I personally have a problem with abortion, but I will not judge those who choose it, because it's not my place. I can only state why I believe what I do and that's then a person's free will to choose.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Oh, so you have a problem when I cherry pick Biblical quotes to make a point, but you have no problem with the Secretary of Defense doing so. I never said that.
  7. Re: abortion, if it is so hard of a decision, and we need to educate those who are having one, and we need to preach abstinance, isn't that a clue that abortion itself is wrong, if we have to have all these issues dealt with BEFORE it ever takes place? Just a thought.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) Thank you. No one here was bashing religion of faith, at all. I wasn't. I just wanted one fact clear and that was it wasn't unconstitutional. Ignorant? Maybe.
  9. QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 19, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) I've never done that, but considering I am a diagnosed insomniac (contrary to the beliefs of people who don't know me, the dark circles around my eyes are not from a crack habit) and can stay up through any over the counter sleep aid, I just may have to give this a try... Yea - I can relate to that. But I'm not sure I want to robowhatever he said.
  10. QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) Stay up as long as you can on that stuff and then go walk around. EDIT: For your safety, don't go to the kitchen. I think I know what you mean. It causes me to post poop posts all over soxtalk. The short walk into bed was a little adventerous.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) If we want to discuss this as a matter of faith then let me adopt a different tact here. Does anyone expect that at some point we will see a memo released with a picture of some of the Abu Ghraib photos on it and the headline: If not, please discuss why not. Nice cherry pick.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) Interesting. Never got that impression from him, but in this case I'll defer. I wasn't specifically saying you - because you asked at least. Some people want to just assume the worst. It's not like she spent enormous amounts of time, but what time she did spend she said that he seems to be a man of tremendous faith.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Was it your impression that Donald Rumsfeld was a born-again Christian of the sort who would be quoting various Bible verses at length? My cousin has spent time with Rumsfeld. Based on her account, my short answer: yes. And not to create this illusion of a "crusade" that some of you want to paint it as.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) Was anyone actually under the impression that Rumsfeld was a big time Christian believer type guy? Or big time religious? He certainly never struck me as such. I read those more as Rumsfeld's folks thinking..."We need to keep the President on our side and not listening to idiots like that Powell...how can we do that...Bible quotes! Remind him that God is on our side and he'll be more likely to listen to us even if things go badly!" Some days, your biases and drivel are just over the top Kaperbole ™...
  15. I love Jim Thome. But he's worthless. You won't get a bag of balls for him in a trade. Dye has some value, but not much. Konerko - same thing. The problem is, the old guys on this team have very little trade value - which leaves, what? The guys that are worthless (Lillibridge, DWise, etc.). Getz will probably figure out some things. Anderson? Maybe. Fields? Maybe, but I'm starting to doubt him. Rotation is "ok" but has no depth. The problem is, as someone else stated, is the s*** drafts we have had in the last 10 years. There's nothing coming up to change a thing about this club, and you can't go sign older guys (Figgins, Roberts, whoever else the names are bantered about here for the last 3-5 years) and be a true WS contender.
  16. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ May 18, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) Given that FIAT has its own balance sheet issues that will rear its ugly head in about two years.... I wouldn't say smelling like a rose will necessarily sound that apt. It doesn't have near the issues and with these moves will cover it's balance sheet. They are getting assets for nothing. Think leverage.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 18, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) BUT HE DIDN'T! And THEREIN lies the problem. He's the AntiChrist!
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) TODAY IS THE DAY THAT THE RALLY POOP SHALL TURN IT AROUND FOR OUR WHITESOX! THE RALLY POOP!
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) He's already gotten it. A couple million a year is more than enough for most people. Unless you're a U.S. CEO. Oh I know. Our country sucks, doesn't it?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) And he makes something like 1/100th of what the guys at AIG, BofA, Merrill Lynch et al. made while running those companies in to the ground. Don't worry, he'll get his.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 18, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) I didn't say it was funny. It wasn't funny at all. I had to take one of them home. It was more ridiculous than funny. Yes, one of those moments... not fun.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2009 -> 08:17 AM) But he's a poly-sci major! He's so much more enlightened than us drooling slobs. Yea, right, just ask him.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) It looks like we're both right--"In god we trust" was first on money during the Civil War (1864), but it did not become our national motto until 1956. "under God" was added to the pledge during the Red Scare (godless commies!). But I do think you're correct on this topic. This isn't a Constitutional issue. Just a stupidity one. And we all know Rumsfeld had ample amounts of that. Ah, right - I did get the "under God" provision on the Allegiance messed up in my head with the money. Exactly, on the last point.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) Not really. Both parties are trying to use punishment through the tax code to try to get companies to behave how they want them to behave. It is more erosion of our economic freedoms. And it's just getting started. Before the end of 2010, we will have a federal tax on every product we touch in some form or another.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:46 AM) Did you turn into hi8is overnight? I must have. Thou shalt not post after taking sleep meds ever again. I thought I was being funny. It's not really.
