  1. I just deleted the crap. NSS is right, we went overboard. Carry on.
  2. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) Do you have ODS? Oh! GOOD ONE! How original.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Offer me another option? I'd love to hear it. The best I can say is to try to save as many lives as possible, use negotiations and the carrot/stick approach to try to keep their nuclear program on ice, and hope that eventually the leadership within the country falls (perhaps with some encouragement if we can ever find a group that actually starts to organize itself against the government there). I'll be the first to admit it's totally inadequate because it doesn't offer a guaranteed way out. But every other thing poster here so far is some variant of "This method sucks...ok what's your proposal....this method sucks...seriously, offer me something better...this method sucks". Giving in to them has worked so well! So, that's obviously our only option.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) Might not hold if other, more positive data comes out, but I think that the unexpected drop in retail sales might be exactly what an over-bought market was waiting on to push it back downwards over the next few days/weeks. I sold yesterday into a cash position. I think I'll be near the top on this push up. I'm hoping that I don't have to touch the money, but at least I'll have it just in case. If I don't need it, I'll just roll it again into some more funds.
  5. Well, hell, then, let's just throw our hands up and bend over! There's nothing else to do!
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Lesson learned for today: Kill Whitey
  7. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) To those attacking SouthsideDon with no real substance behind their defense.... let me ask this: What are your thoughts of Brian Scalabrine and his popularity in Boston? Granted, that is taken to kind of a circus level where they're almost making fun of him...... ....but if you scale it back it helps inform the Crede vs. Dye thing. Both those guys are quiet personality wise, so there has to be some reason why there's a difference in the way they're treated. Both were clutch guys, one perhaps more so in some of the biggest moments of the franchise's history. One has a longer stretch of consistent, important numbers put up (granted w/ more health) Yet the other undeniably has that cult status...to a substantially greater degree I would say. I dont think of this as "most fans are racist." It's just that race affects what we do even despite our intentions, b/c the country has such a history with it. It's engrained in us. I'm not gonna say that SouthsideDon's argument is without holes, but how bout take on this one: Wise was booed, some say, as a proxy-boo of the front office and Ozzie. He was an unproven leadoff guy yet thrust out there. Then why no booing of Getz? Fewer previous major league at-bats than Wise. Their most recent year of minor league numbers were comparable if I remember correctly. Getz is still a sign that this front office under-filled the roster. Because, again, Dweezy has been playing professional baseball for 15 years and has had no success at it. Getz is basically a rookie. BIG difference in where they stand. People can put up with "growing pains", they can't put up with proven "crap" - and I'm talking on a professional baseball playing ability.
  8. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) I kinda agree with you on this...this is the same with Latin players. I just really find a hard time believeing you all think this is true.
  9. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) To those attacking SouthsideDon with no real substance behind their defense.... let me ask this: What are your thoughts of Brian Scalabrine and his popularity in Boston? Granted, that is taken to kind of a circus level where they're almost making fun of him...... ....but if you scale it back it feeds into the Crede vs. Dye thing. Both those guys are quiet personality wise, so there has to be some reason why there's a difference in the way they're treated. Both were clutch guys, one perhaps more so in some of the biggest moments of the franchise's history. Yet the other undeniably has that cult status...to a substantially greater degree I would say. I dont think of this as "most fans are racist." It's just that race affects what we do even despite our intentions, b/c the country has such a history with it. It's engrained in us. Who? And while I may not have "real substance", I know that I do not think in "black and white". I think in terms of performance, but I can only speak for myself.
  10. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) I'm not saying the board is racist, nowhere did I say in my post the word "racist". For better clarification, I think a better term would be "inherently biased". That's it, just biased behavior. Being biased and racist are two totally different things. You say people "judge according to race". That's being "racist". Whatever. We all know what you mean. I've said my piece of your opinion, and I think it's over the top ridiculous.
  11. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Hey, sorry to offend you, but that's honestly how I feel. I hope I don't get censored for it, for expressing an unpopular opinion, but I was simply answering Caulfield's question with an answer that I've always suspected all along. I think more people need to be a little more racial-conscious. A lot of white fans seem to "go easy" on white players, and that was the impression I've gotten from people on this board and people I've spoke to in person. One person I spoke to in person actually said to me that he liked Anderson, Broadway, and Crede because they "remind him of himself as if he was a player". By the way, I'm white, and I have a black girlfriend. So what? Now people are "racist"? You are basing this on "one person" saying this, and you have a black girlfriend? Good for you and her if you're happy, but that makes no difference that your opinion is absolutely ridiculous. Dye gets mentioned for trading because he's almost 40. BA is 26. I think there's JUUUUUST a bit of difference there. Me thinks you're just posting over the top stuff to make an impression, but whatever.
  12. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I know you were kidding, but I actually think that's the answer. Now I know I can safely ignore every opinion you may have from this point forward. If I wasn't sure before now, I certainly do know for sure now. What a worthless piece of s*** post that was. NOTE: not saying you are personally, but that opinion is absolutely worthless. If you think this board is "racist", go post somewhere else.
  13. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 10:17 AM) my problem with the baconator is the lack of lettuce tomato and onion. Its just a big pile of gooey salt. I always ask for the Big Bacon Classic ^^^ I needs me some vegetables with my baconator.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) Oh come on, you know the dishwasher part is funny. Yes, it is. I even posted on your page about it.

    Films Thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 10:04 AM) Hmmm might be a good plan with as many musicals as I have been forced to sit through in the last year... might also explain the unmitigated anger towards bad musicals. This is why I keep the tv on one channel. That way, the stupid ideas of going to some of these don't ever infiltrate the house.
  16. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) make sure she orders the baconator You guys are just bad.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) What are the odds KW makes a move soon for a competent CF? I would say slim and none, since it's been three years now.
  18. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) This debate shows up here every couple months and it's ridiculous. I'm not the one who said they want to slap people in the face for using a word. Sarcasm or not. And neither was lf until "LindsayL" showed up. Actually it was a joke, but it's ok.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) Ok, this is something of a public service announcement for everyone's benefit - I understand conservatives protesting high taxes and having "tea parties," but please don't go talking about how you're about to go out "Tea Bagging" because that has a very different meaning than it had in 1776. Just saw someone say that and I felt like I had to get that out there. Ummm, yea. That is someone who is, deprived, would maybe be the word.
  20. I'll just say it. These guys steal signs at the Ballpark like no tomorrow. They score a bazillion runs and then go to Detroit and can't score any, then they come home and score (nearly) double digits again. It's not warm or anything, so the bandaid box effect isn't quite there yet. I know there was some controversy about this a couple of years ago with the Sox, and frankly, I think they're up to it again.
  21. Ok. I am not reading the NY Slimes. Balta posted what he wanted to out of it...
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Maybe we should change his name to "Britney"? I was thinking "LindsayL" myself.
  23. Nice pickup there for the NYT... let's see if we can dig up some more s*** to make him look stupid, eh?
  24. There's always a bulls*** reason for anything. Eventually, you have to parse that out and not take everything the MSM throws at you for face value.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) And no U.S. company backed the invasion that stood to gain from it either. They were all 100% patriots. Of course! If the GOP did it, it has to be shennanigans and all tied to special interests and big corporations. The Democrats never do that!
