QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) LMAO.. This has got to be one of the funniest days on this site in a loooooong time. We just want to see you in a shirt tearing contest. Come on, live up to the moniker of "doable"... YOU CAN DOOO IT!

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) decisions are made by those who show up. so anyone, and I mean anyone, who sits and b****es, moans, complains about the government without voting themselves is a complete hypocrite. we do have the power here. we just choose to not utilize it. People are made to believe that they have the power, but do they really?

Daaaaaaaaayum, Steff, he's dissin' on you.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) Some people are obsessed with a certain issue...

We don't need a third party to "help" govern, we need a third party "TO" govern.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Pfffttt.... I challenge you... to a duel! Of what, tearing shirts? ok, it wasn't funny.

Screw that. The devil's coming, you know.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Close to zero cost instead of the ridiculous 30 billion per year...interesting...and not from a source with an obvious agenda... LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! You have GOT to be kidding. The CONGRESSIONAL Budget Office has no obvious agenda, none at all.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Oh that's rich. Or maybe the problem is that most people lacking an alternative like themeselves latch onto the closest thing they can find, defending it because they view the alternative as even worse than their ill-fitting party choice they were forced into? DING. They ALL suck. It's just I feel that one party sucks less then the other.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) You are missing my point. Probably on purpose.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) They are reflecting mainstream America. Republicans and Democrats will defend anything their party does. We are getting what we deserve. Hear something anti-GOP? It's the liberal media. Hear something Anti-Democrat, it gets defended. We DESERVE this? What the **** planet are you from? We can't get any better because the corporations, etc. have bought the entire government.
-
Short term, yes, it's "bad", but SOMETHING has to happen. Neither party stands for "mainstream America" anymore, they both have to suck the schlongs of their extremists to get the real money. It's freaking nausaiating. It's time for a REAL representation of what most of us think out here. (Special thanks to Iggy for the insight... ahem).

I love stories like this.

Game in and game out, at least what few I have got to watch, he looks clueless at the plate. That's what the big problem is. I'm not ready to throw him under quite yet, but the time is getting close where he needs to start showing some signs at the plate.

Mr. Wile E. Coyote, Genius would like to order a black hole, a pole vault stick, and a couple of bricks for Congress. Oh, and don't forget the birdseed.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Ok, this is going to take this thread off in one hell of an odd direction...but man, it seems to me you're sneaking into Iggy territory there. What exactly do you expect a country like France to do that they didn't do? Threaten to use their nuclear arsenal against an ally if the invasion goes forward? France did everything that was practical at the time, short of offering actual assistance to Saddam. France put public posturing on the front burner of its agenda at the time. Why? Because damn near every weapon system in Iraq had a made in France or a made in Russia stamp on it. They had to play that card. Meanwhile, all the backroom meetings that took place before the invasion started... everyone knew what was coming. If there were something that should have stopped it, it would have stopped.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 31, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) As far as I'm concerned, why can't we? I've never been against a real, honest-to-goodness war on terror, Kap. It's just been a real long time since we've actually had one. Fighting the good and just fight in Afghanistan, against the 9-11 perpetrators and those that would give them aid and comfort, for the few months that we did that, was a cause the entire country and most of the world supported. And if we didn't have to get down to business in Iraq we might have actually succeeded in our mission to bring an evil terrorist entity to justice. . . The smoke-and-mirrors conflation of our invasion of Iran with the justifiable war on terror, repeating the mantra that Saddam=Osama until it takes root in the psyche of the ham-n-eggers, Hearing our president say things like he's really "not that concerned" with capturing the man who actually DID attack us – those are the sorts of things that have exposed the current version of the GWoT as the crock of s*** it truly is. I still say that there is waaaaaaaaaay more to Iraq then any of us will ever know. I know that most in your camp still subscribe to the theory that GWB had a hard on to get rid of Saddam just to get rid of him. I do think that, however, it was for reasons that we still don't know about. And no, it's not oil. I think that there's a stronger influence of the world community as a whole, even though the French played the "against the War" card. If everyone was really against it, it would not have happened. edit: in general, though, I agree with what you say about the "real war" leaving Iraq out of the equation. We need to focus there, but we can't, because of Iraq.

The media moguls DO determine what's news and what isn't, every single day. And yes, Flaxx, you are right that the overwhelming majority of people are NOT like this, however, when you see images like this, it does incite people to think that our "terrorist causes" are more just. And, we can't have that now, can we?
-
Wow. So how do you seal it back off, now that modern air has gotten through, etc.? And - how did it stay intact? I mean, the air had to come from somewhere?

Seriously, I can see what I can do if you wanted to try to go. Let me know. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) And millions of people weren't subjected to images of these protesters in Europe? There are many leaders, including the President of Iran who believe what these wackos had on their signs. Yet Robertson's words get portrayed there too, and we see nothing of protests advocating our genocide. I'd bet if the samethings were done in Iraq or Afganistan it would have been frontpage news. These images support our cause of going after nutjobs like this. That's why it wasn't news here.

I'm not surprised.

Ah hell, he hasn't logged in for months. No wonder it's been so quiet.
