  1. What I think is interesting is how successful all the "new media" outlets are compared to the "main stream" outlets. I wonder why the popularity is higher for the "new media"? /ducks
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool Just had some good BBQ last night as a matter of fact.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) Exactly..he looked much more aggressive at the plate last season in the few AB's he had. Thats why I am attributing much of his struggles to nerves and the pressure of trying to replace Rowand. It looks like he is thinking too much at the plate. DING!
  4. I'm late, but real Texas chili doesn't have beans or frijoles, or frijoles rojas. at Tex's joke.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Wait, wait, what RS cover is this? Historians are the exception to the rule about people having very short attention spans and memories. The article does a really good job of pointing out how careful historians are by nature in weighing their answers with the proper context and perspective. Certainly in time we will come to understand more about this presedency and its repercussions, and I think the author of the RS oiece would be the first to agree with that statement. I didn't read this particular article - I was generalizing. This may be well written, I don't know.
  6. Of course he's the worst president today, if only because he IS the president today. And that's pretty much where these articles fall short. People have very short attention spans and memories.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Uh, no one said they don't immigrants to do the jobs. They don't want illegal immigrants doing them. I don't think I have seen one person in this entire thread who saids they want to close the borders and keep everything in the US. Your rant is completely misguided. Exactly. Illegal being the key word.
  8. Look. Bottom line is this. Mexico wants to pawn off their poor people on us, so our GOVERNMENT can take care of them with the social programs that are here in America. That way, the corrupt assholes in Mexico gets to funnel all their money to the government which allows the fat cats to get bigger. Oh wait, that's what the Democrats say here about the tax cuts. I guess we're no better.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:23 AM) Mexico a blueprint for our country to follow. Mexico is a third world country with much different needs than the US. How anyone thinks that both countries are equal and should have equal laws surprises me. Yes, Mexico has a lot of poor, unskilled workers. And, in perfect symetry, the US has a need for lots of unskilled workers. Thank God we have an education system and a society, that actually can take almost anyone, put them through our schools, and they will be qualified to work jobs above unskilled. But instead of celebrating our good fortune and the bounty that comes with being a world power, we are thnking we should have the same laws as Mexico. Let's set out sights a bit higher. Shouldn't the US laws be based on what is best for the US and not compare it with what Mexico does? And Nuke, since you are such a fan of Mexico laws, let's take away everyone's guns like Mexico. BS. Mexico has the fifth largest economy in the world. But it's so poor!!! It's so corrupt though that the poor people stay poor. They all are pawned off here.
  10. How about that? Mark Cuban and the Mavericks gave a free round trip ticket on American Airlines to every fan in attendance as a "fan appreciation" gift. Pretty impressive, huh? Yes, there is a catch. It's out of Dallas Love Field. They only fly to Kansas City, St. Louis, San Antonio, and Austin. Still, I thought that was an EXCELLENT marketing ploy.
  11. No- If you have Centre Ice, you will be able to watch the games for the most part.
  12. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) I say we rataliate by a fastball to the face. :rolly
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) :puke :puke :puke :puke See, dorkass? I blame you.
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) Very good as in NO HITTER good? That's twice. I should ban your ass.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Playoff reference. That's all. I know, I was chuckling when I read it. So... Thome has to score a run here. Keep that streak going.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Did that hit Dye's bat? :rolly I ain't watching, but I wonder what you mean by that?
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) For your midgame entertainment. Dumbass award of April. My father in law might be going to the emergency room. Its all due to easter you see. You see he made some eggs for my son to find on Easter. He made those on Saturday night. So what did he decide last night, hey I am hungry and those blue/green/red colored eggs look mighty yummy(why didnt he throw them out on Sunday is another question). So he ate them. He woke up this morning feeling like someone was stabbing him in the stomach. The pains have gotten worse over the day and I just got a cal l from my wife telling me they may take him to the emergency room. She of course was a bit upset when I started openly laughing on the phone when she told me he ate 5 day old red/blue/green hardboiled eggs at room temperature. So what have I learned from this. 1.) My father in law is a dumbass 2.) Eggs go bad after a few days out in room temperature. 3.) Everyone knows number 2, so see number 1 4.) Learn to use the mute button on the phone before laughing. It gives whole new meaning to "GAS! HE GAWN!" And now back to the game.
  18. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) NO HITTER!!1! Asshat.
  19. QUOTE(samclemens @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) oh i see. because i am calling this ram-job what it is, im a racist. makes total sense, since i dont have a liberal view on the issue i must be ignorant, backwards, racist and intolerant. i probably also live in the country and not the city, right? What ever happened to letting the full story come out? You have enough stereotypes in your comments to completely dismiss any slight credibility you thought you had.
  20. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 06:46 AM) rventura23, that is the widest signature ever. We need bigger ones. No, we don't. There are sig limits, you know.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:20 AM) I've got some time tonight. Explain why im a homer. Because you can't admit that BA sucks? Silly boy. I don't have time, but I thought I'd share. Gee, thank me later.
  22. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:18 AM) the bill should work because of Time, Manner, Place precedent right? ???
  23. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:12 AM) yes you're right...Brian Anderson is doing great...he's done a wonderful job of helping this team get off to the start we've had. I should not be worried at all about how our CF is so godawful that its almost fun for me to watch how fast he can strikeout...i mean in all honesty if he could go up against buerhle he'd be sitting down before anyone noticed. there's a big difference from being a bench player to an every day MLB player. Hang the f***er, he's had two weeks and sucked. TRADE FOR GRIFFEY, but WHERE WOULD HE PLAY?
  24. BMAC has a lot of torque on his arm at his release point, but his follow-through appears a lot more fluid then Kerry Wood, at least from what I can recall. I'm no expert, but I think that the release point and followthrough (how the energy is directed, ie shoulder, arm, elbow, etc) will determine "injury" issues, and BMAC seems to have a pretty level followthrough.
  25. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) I shudder to see that we all praise this kid for doing the simplest of things...whenever he gets to the plate its a countdown to K...soon people will be bringing K signs to the cell for Brian anderson, not the pitchers. He got on base (ONCE) against kansas city. 2 in two games...and how many k's did he also have? At least get the ball in play...we might as well just say he's out before he even gets to the plate. the kid has to learn. and drawing a walk in a tough situation is a good learning experience. the biggest thing with BA is PATIENCE right now.
