  1. I'd love to trade with Houston, but I look at their pen and wonder which pitcher Soria would really upgrade. Maybe Will Harris, but he's been a mainstay for them. Seattle's has been good too. Milwaukee's a possibility - I figured that bullpen as a house of cards a while back, despite its numbers.
  2. More high leverage innings for Minaya. Good gracious. Nice way to back up Carlos' start.
  3. What I meant to say was that a contender WILL have a few Yolmer's or Leurys so they have some value on a team. But both are so underdeveloped as hitters that I think any prospect will be really modest.
  4. What are the Sox going to get for trading Leury and Yolmer? A prospect who doesn't project to be as good as Leury or Yolmer is right now. A contender will have few Yolmers and Leurys.
  5. Club option - no rental. Shields too. Sox have the powaaah
  6. Britton has been no great shakes for the last 2 years. His numbers are nowhere near as good as either Robertson nor Kahnles were last year. His Ks are low, his WHIP is mediocre.
  7. Why do the tweets specifically mention Drury is not involved? It's not like has any real trade value. Unless the point is that the Orioles are getting real value and not an utility infielder.
  8. Fry is someone who may be able to start. He was a starter; I think he has sufficient pitches to start. They just moved him in the pen after his surgery, he pitched well, so there he is. He's got some MB in him - not sure he has that precise command, at least as of now.

Stephens should be next man up in Charlotte, right? He's almost 26 and pitching reasonably well.
  10. I'm sure the Yankees would as he, but I would hope we wouldn't. The Astros AAA team, however, has more interesting 3B.
  11. Cordell was blocked with the Brewers and had to be put on a 40 man this year. He was exactly who a smart team will try to trade for a reliever in July. From the Sox perspective, Cordell needs to be auditioned fairly quickly. Unfortunate he got hurt.
  12. Putting all of the facts together, I must conclude that Avi is out of the lineup due to sickness from eating bad pizza.
  13. Where's Avi? Isn't this showcase time?
  14. Needs to catch that.
  15. Cole Calhoun takes a walk around the stadium after each pitch.
  16. On what planet did Yolmer think he could possibly make that? Out by 10 feet.
  17. I could see 5+ players on Houston's AAA roster, none of whom are top 150 (to my knowledge) that I'd trade Soria for and who could probably play in Chicago immediately.
  18. Covey is settling in as a starter. Let Kopech and Stephens settle in the majors via bullpen work. A lot of teams do it this way, including the Sox for their best (Sale, Buehrle)
  19. And Baretto and Fowler aren't even hitting yet. Trienen's an older pitcher who was part of the Madsen/Doolittle package and as soon as he hits Oakland, he's better than both of them.
  20. I would suggest just cutting Santiago, but that would upset the Tankers.
  21. Plus that 3B depth also was a big piece to obtain Gerrit Cole.. If the Astros want Abreu, i would guess they see something they think they can fix unless it's just purely a matter of thinking they can get him on the cheap.
  22. No time for one anyway, when you have only 10 days left to show him off and sell.
  23. The difference between what the Padres got and the Mets got, for pitchers who are not that dissimilar in production, is just stunning, even factoring in the control
  24. I don't know whether Riley is "the guy", if he's obtainable (I certainly wouldn't think for Fry alone), but the Sox need to start building a major league team and they need a 3B.
  25. Cutting one-sided deals for vets is not Luhnow's m.o....he pays fair prices for veterans on the trade market. Now you aren't going to get his best prospects ...but that farm system is extremely productive and with careful scouting, Hahn and his scouts should be able to find what they need in the form of ascending, although as yet unranked, prospects. I'd love for Hahn to trade with the Astros.
