QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 16, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) True, but it's still a pretty small sample size. Plus, the Sox are most likely going to have 2 lefties in their pen anyways. Nothin' like five innings pitched, DBaho...

Can you give us a quick overview on your repetioure (sp?), what pitches you throw, which pitch you feel is your best, a pitch that you are currently working on/developing, etc?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 15, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) What's the excuse today, gentleman? Did Ozzie not properly define his role this evening? Was the lapse in defense responsible? There are no excuses. Cotts hasn't been great the past two days, period. But, who's better than him? It ain't Kevin Walker, I don't care if he's pitched two shutout innings. I think it's time to give Baj a prolonged chance, regardless of him being a lefty or not.

That's awesome. I've been lazy, so far, I'll try to post a line of what he's been doing at Birmy ASAP.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) As was I I was confused that everyone in the IF was playing the shift, yet Konerko wasn't guarding the line? That didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I also think that Konerko of two years ago makes that play, but maybe I'm just talking out of my ass again...

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Ya, I read those. But his velocity is way down. Anyways, what does Shimizu throw? Was the reason he got hit hard last night because his velocity was down 2-3 MPH? Not to me, at least. He hung curves -- can't do that to the best offense in the AL.

Anyone know where the May wallpaper is? I tried going a different way, but I can't -- I need that May wallpaper back.

On the flipside, we also lead the majors in caught stealing with 19. Meaning, we're successful about 70% of the time -- so, overall, it's not making a huge factor in our wins and losses (aside from Podsedniks stolen bases, which are making a difference). I just hope Ozzie realizes that there's only a few guys on this team who should be attempting stolen bases consistently. No more running Joe Crede or Carl Everett, even in a two strike count.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Adkins up, Cotts down. Adkins wouldn't be doing a whole lot better than Cotts right now. Adkins wasn't pitched in many close/tight ballgames last year -- he was the mop-up guy. His P (stat determining the overall pressure of the situation) was lower than Cotts' last year, meaning that Guillen didn't trust him in many close games. If they were to send down Cotts, I'd like to see Munoz or Baj get their shot...

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 15, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) You're right Paulie can do no wrong ever. Harris, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought Konerko could have gotten to that ball. It wasn't hit that hard. I mean, he made good contact on it, but it wasn't by any means a rip. That said, Cotts didn't pitch well tonight, but he's still been good for us this year. And, I'm seeing improvements, but maybe I'm just wearing the black-and-white colored glasses. And, does Cotts have a set role? Early on, I thought it was Hermy/Marte/Politte/Vizcaino for the 7th-8th innings, and then Shingo in the 9th. Obviously, that has changed, but shouldn't one use his best relievers in the tightest of situations? I'm pretty sure that a tie game in the seventh inning doesn't call for your last reliever (Cotts) -- especially when the bullpen has been well rested. For the most part, I've liked how Ozzie has used his bullpen, playing the matchups rather than the 'role' (i.e. a set closer). But, I have had gripes with how he's handled pitchers (i.e. starting a pitcher in the sixth-seventh inning when he's already at 100 pitches, which he's done with El Duque twice and Garcia tonight). One more thing -- I don't know if this is anything important yet 'cause it's such a small sample size, but Cotts' FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching -- before tonight, I should add) is 3.48, which is basically telling us that he's relying on his stuff alone to get guys out; he'll f*** up himself, or he'll do good things himself, not allowing his defense to factor in (too much). Don't know if that means anything, just wanted to put it out there...

I forgot to mention, Mora has been superb defensively tonight. Not that he's bad defensively, but I was really impressed... -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Do you really think that Cotts' ERA isn't going to jump to 5.00+ like it has in the past? I'd rather see what someone else can do. We already know what Cotts does -- he gives up leadoff walks and leadoff hits. Cotts strikes out 8 guys per nine, though. And yes, I realize he has a bad career ERA. He's only 24 or 25, though, one tends to get better in their young twenties. Plus, he's the last guy in our bullpen. I don't think I've ever proclaimed him as the second coming of Eric Gagne, but he's not terrible. Way to jump ahead, Luis. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) And Walker has a better career ERA (4.45) in the majors than Cotts. That he does. But, why hasn't he been good since 2000-2001? Or, I should say, why hasn't he been with a major league club consistently since 2000-2001? Actually, 2000... There has to be a reason, no? That's the first time I've seen Shingo throw the frisbee multiple times for strikes. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) I'd give him a shot over sorry-ass Cotts. Cotts is working back to his stellar career ERA of 5.76. When he gets there, we can talk about it. Until then, he's better than Kevin Walker, holder of the four+ ERA at AAA. Until he gains whatever he's lost since 2000-2001, he's a AAA fodder. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Wow, what game are you watching? Garcia sucked but Cotts was trash as well. :headshake I said he wasn't great... And, tell me again, who this replacement is? Kevin Walker? Your comment just came outof the blue. He's been pitching well, and when he pitches well, you hide. He gives up a run, and you're all over him. Timo, you suck. -

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 15, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) 4get the twins we got a 6 game lead. we need to stop worrying about the cubs, twins, tigs...when the sox are playing. worry about the sox. Chill out. The Twins pertain to us, so I'll periodically post updates in here. There's no comparison in a Cubs score to a Twins score...
