That's exactly how I play, Dan. I play really tight, and I love it. Then, if I go all in, it could be a bluff or just me having a damn good hand, but most likely, people will think I have an awesome hand and fold. Plus, people have said that I'm really hard to read. I look sad the whole game, until I win. Poker is awesome.

Sounds awesome. Thanks for the help, Row44...

I'm too lazy to find the stats right now, but I'd say that a big portion of Grilli's wins have become more because of run support. Like last night, six runs, six innings. If Diaz starts that game, I don't think he gives up that much. JMO, but you know what I'm saying. BTW - I was at that game last night, and holy f***ing hell - why the f*** do the Twins have so many guys that come up from their minors and just rake? This Jason Kubel is f***ing awesome - along with Morneau, and if he ever gets his knees Okayed, Mauer. Damn, does that organization know how to scout/draft or what...

One of my buddies told me that one has to be older than 18 if you want to stay at a hotel room? Is that true? I'm asking because I'd really love to attend this, preferably without my dad (Cubs fan) or my mom (eh, my mom is indifferent to baseball) going - rather, my friends, or better yet, my girlfriend. But anyways, can someone help me out? And, what hotel/area does Soxfest take place at again?

Give him a break, it was one of his first posts that exceeded two lines that I've ever seen. Seriously...

Ditto. I was at that game, I remember Diaz pitching the first three innings or so, and pitching pretty poorly. He then came out in the fourth, and it looked like a totally different pitcher - to tell you the truth, he looked sort of Pedro-ish. Not in how he threw, just in how his attitude seemed on the mound. He seemed a lot more confident, almost cocky confident - kind of like, you aren't going to be able to hit what I throw. The only thing I could notice different with him was that he actually started to bust hitters up and in with his low 90s fastball, which would set up his pitches on either side of the plate. The best way to say what I'm trying to type is that he looks to be gleaming with confidence, at this point - almost to a point where Jon Garland and Jose Contreras might be the ones battling for the fifth spot, rather than the fourth spot. And yeah, I'm serious when I'm saying that, too...

I don't think you're understanding that most likely, Seattle wouldn't have taken Borchard instead of Reed. I dunno where you're getting that from...
-
You could say that for just about any team in the NFL. Hell, the Bears could be 2-0 easily right now too, had it not been for some stupid penalties. I don't see your point. You're not gonna win in this league without a good offensive line, and if Miami doesn't have it... Put one and one together.

I thought Syzmanski was drafted by the Reds... Perhaps I'm thinking of the wrong guy, I'm remembering someone talking about BJ as a lanky lefty with a lot of power, and very athletic, and damn good defensively (or maybe that was just his arm). Correct me if I'm wrong?

Bristol gets 3 of BA top 20 for Appy league

I'd sure like to get younger Jerry Hairston from Baltimore on this team. .300+ average with a nice and high (IIRC, right around .390) On-Base %. Boy, if this team could land Hairston and Damon in the offseason, I'd be thrilled... Throw in Mueller and I'll just die... (Sorry for changing the topic and for talking about the major league team on the minor league board.) -
This offense doesn't need a stud WR. I'd actually like to see Angelo load up on defense, trying to make ours one of the best in the NFL. We already have, at least two potentially awesome defensive linemen in Ogun and Harris, and Brown and Tank will be right up there, IMO. Our linebacking core, with developement, will be one of the best in the NFC, and our secondary - well, that's where I want improvement. I want to have two above average corners - we already have one with Peanut, another would make our defense unbelievably good...

Actually, I think he's a hitter. He hit a 500 foot bomb, it was so awesome... Across the width of the football field that is beyond the left field fence, and onto the street. What a bomb.

Speaking of the draft, does it look to be pitching or hitting heavy, or is it un-foreseeable (probably not a word) as of right now? And, I found out my buddy at my HS, Mike Clemson (sp?) from Oak Forest is being scouted by the Twins, Dodgers, and Angels. It's awesome, I'm gonna go to all of our games this year to watch him play...

I guarantee you that Konerko and Lee will both be hot commodities in trade talks this summer. I honestly believe we could get some team to overpay for Lee or Konerko, and possibly gain a very good reliever, a pretty good prospect, and a solid position player. Maybe I'm off on that, but I'm expecting a lot in return - and I mean a lot - if we trade Lee or PK. But, either way, great season Paully! Gotta love Paully Walnuts!
-
I know this wasn't directed towards me, but I'd like to say that, IMHO, having an excellent bullpen is much, much more important, over the course of a season, than having one stud starter. I've said that my ideal offseason would be to trade one of Lee/Konerko, fill in the team with guys like Koskie, Hairston, Drew - grinders and lefty power bats, OBP guys - sign a solid starter, and sign a stud reliever - and also add a reliever via the Konerko/Lee trade.

I don't think any Bear fan is expecting playoffs this year. We want to see developement and good signs from this coaching staff. Case in point: Week one, penalties are basically the cause of the loss. You could point to the blocked FG, but penalties really hurt this team against the Lions. Week two, we come out, and only have like one or two penalties. The coaching staff made an awesome adjustment during the week in practice (adjustment probably not the word to use, correction, whatever). That's what I loved seeing. IIRC, we're one of the youngest teams in the NFL. Hell, I don't care if we go 4-12, as long as we show progress. Then, in the draft, grab a stud LT/WR/DB, and go from there. We have our core; and, when this team is healthy, I think we are one WR away from being a damn good football team...

After a long and endurring season, after all of the pain we as Sox fans have gone through since 2000, I've finally come to terms and agreed with this statement. People say that Kenny 'tries' to win. Well, trying isn't f***ing good enough any more. Every team has injuries, hell, even teams within the races have had critical injuries - (Oakland with Chavez, New York with Brown, Minny with Mauer/Koskie/Hunter). It's time to put up or shut up for Kenny, no more of this 'trying' bulls***...
-
The Twinkies lost Mauer, Hunter, Koskie - and their pitching was friggin terrible early in the season (by saying that, I mean that Santana didn't come into his own yet) - yet did the Twins cry? No, better yet - did we take advantage? We had Thomas and Maggs back then, why didn't we take advantage? I know it's hard to win without your two best players, but then again, maybe that's the fault of how the team was constructed. I'm not blaming KW for this, but maybe we should realize something - if you invest most of your offensive stock in two players, trouble may arise if your team gets the injury bug... Sorry if this comes off as a rant. Well, it is...
-
Watch 'em, boys. Sit your asses on the bench, and let it all soak in. Justy watch 'em celebrate, and remember... Remember how it feels...
-
Ouch, Miami fans - be prepared for one long, long season... Your offense is absolute garbage... Damn good defense, but absolutely nothing on offense...
-
Ditto (assuming that was being sarcastic?). Hell, I'll take Carl Everett over him. Like Cheat said, his OBP is low as hell - even during 'healthy' years. He isn't that good, IMHO...
-
I've also seen a lot of plays in which Ogun has been absolutely hog-tied, yet no call was made. He's also drawing double teams, and I see that paying huge dividends for Tommie Harris and Alex Brown, who are playing solid. I'm not worried about Ogun, he's playing the run excellently, and once he gets his step back, not many RT's will be able to stop him from getting to the QB...

Lighten up, it's a joke. :rolly I know we all want to be high after this game - but let's put it into perspective a bit. This team should have been pissed off after how they played last week. Green Bay, beating us the last seven times and coming off a high of playing on the first Monday Night against the defending NFC Champs, probably were gonna come back down to earth. Don't get me wrong, I love that we finally beat the Pack, at the Tundra - but I want to see more. Go next week and beat the Vikings, and then I'll be really, REALLY impressed...
-
Urlacher has had an excellent two games. He's been awesome - for anyone who said he's overrated... damn, is he proving you guys wrong. But Brown - huge loss. Looks like Bobby Gray and Todd Johnson will have bigger roles in the defense.
-
I agree. The Bears are going to be very pissed off, coming off of a loss to a team that hasn't won on the road in three years, meanwhile, the Pack, having played a great game on the first Monday Night game of the year, beating the defending NFC Champions. I think Tommie or Wale will have a sack today, and I'm expecting a huge game from Peanut Tillman. And my offensive star today will be none other than #83, DT. LETS GO BEARS!
