That's the only way I want to even come near BK, is if Boston picks up most, if not all of his salary... He's a guy I'd be willing to take a chance on at a minimal price, but at this point, we are absolutely loaded at the long reliever spot. And even if Kim would be a short relief, 6th-7th inning guy, I'd still like to have a hard throwing righty for the eighth-9th. Politte-BYK Marte-...... Shingo That would be nice, with Cotts and Adkins having more opportunities as well...

Hmm - actually, I think you're correct. I dunno where the hell I got Carpenter from. How'd he become a Cardinal? It was via trade, correct?
-
The key is getting the most value you can out of a trade like this. If we trade Konerko or Lee, I want a JD Drew-like trade. Not in terms of the talent they got back, but in terms of how many holes they filled. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they get Carpenter, King, and....? One more, I think I'm forgetting. That's why I liked Jason's Konerko for Furcal/Cruz - it filles two holes at once. Gets us a damn good, and still pretty young reliever, and fills our SS position. The holes on this team for next year are: Dominant right-handed reliever, missing top of the order hitter, left handed power bat, missing starter - preferably a #1, #2, #3 (I realize that number one pitchers don't grow on trees, but I have a feeling this team will make a move after the Big Unit in the offseason - just a feeling...). A trade of one of your better power hitters on the team, IMHO, should at least fill two of these holes - just one if the caliber of player is excellent.

We are still in it, asshole... (I figure that's so super-obvious, that green isn't needed. If you can't figure out it's sarcasm, you get the .) THE CHAIR!

Steve - wouldn't you pay a lot to see a Julian Wright vs. Keith Cygan matchup? I sure would...

I agree with your statement that he looked good, but the Bears defense played very well. But for you to come in here with an 'I told you so' attitude - hell, I could do that any day. Hell, even a broken clock works twice a day... -
Hmm, since Ozzie coached at Florida, you think he can put in the good word and get a Konerko for Beckett/Mota/Willis/Pierre/Castillo/Cabrera deal, or am I dreaming?

We lost on a blocked field goal, and you're going to come in here and act all pompous like that? LOL - weren't you the one saying that Rogers and Williams would dominate? One of them is gone for the season (again), the other had a mediocre game... -

hayes, my apologies for ignoring the question asked. I haven't checked this thread since the my last post, so.... Well, anyways - there's a guy I left off the list. Harris played excellent, IMHO. You can tell, he's gonna be a player in this league. He gets awesome jumps off the snap counts, almost to the point of where you think he's offsides. He was in the backfield, probably the most out of any D-Lineman. That's what I thought, maybe my eyes deceived me. -
I'd love to pursue Durazo, but can he play 1B worth a lick? I'm asking, because I don't watch Oakland too much...

I'll take that Atlanta deal, but I don't think they'd do it. I'd also look at the Baltimore deal, except - please, find a way to get Jerry Hairston. He's putting up some very, very good numbers, and would be a great leadoff man. And another guy I'd also love to have is Johnny Damon. Give me him and Bill Mueller (Mueller might be a FA) and that'd be peaches. Would you guys do Konerko for Damon straight up if it was the one deal on the table? I would. Damon is like Ichiro Jr. at the plate, in the fact of how he is able to find the little holes in the defense and just dribble balls right through there...

Just got back from this party I was at. The Bears beat themselves with dumb personal foul penalties. The defense played very well - the two players who I though played sort of poorly on defense were Tillman and R-Dub. Also - why the hell didn't Mike Brown absolutely plaster Roy Williams on that one juggling catch? Stupid penalties - I also didn't think Grossman played very well. Then again, I really didn't like the play call on the INT he threw with 20 seconds left. A rollout right, that play is pretty stupid... Anyways, I thought Briggs, Haynes, Urlacher, Wale, Terrell, and Mike Brown all had good games. Go get 'em next week in Green Bay... -

Yeah, Baldinger is a f***ing moron. There are a lot of morons in football. There is such criticism in this league - case in point: People say the Bears are going to suck because they're inexperienced and they're in a new system. Yet people say the Lions are going to be good, even though they are even moreso inexperienced. Also - the Falcons will contend for the playoffs, even though Mike Vick will be in a new system. Yet the Bears will be bottom-feeders, hands down, no questions asked, will suck. That's the beauty of football. The cliche that anyone can win on any given Sunday is actually true. OK - off to my friends house. I leave you with the words that once echoed loudly through the Stadium: DE TROIT SUCKS! DE TROIT SUCKS! -

You have to get pressure on the QB. That's definitely the biggest thing of the defensive system. I usually get three-five sacks per game, yet it's still realistic. Blitz a lot, mix up zone and man. That's how I do it, and I usually allow anywhere from ten to thirty PPG. -

Just a bit over ten hours until kickoff. I'm going to my buddies house who has NFL Sunday Ticket - even though I hope we'll primarily be watching the Bears game. Best of all - I'm picking up this gal who I kind of got the hots for... EDIT: Double-best of all - we're gonna be BBQing! Food, football, and girls. Is there a better combo? -
Yeah, that's about the color - except, since it's a convertable, it's got the tannish colored pull down part. It's also got a spoiler on the back, and with the V8 engine (turning that car on for the first time was one of the best sounds I've ever heard - honestly!) - it's got that dent sort of thing in the middle of it. I f***ing love that car, and haven't even driven it yet! I get the Dodge Intrepid now. It's not a bad car, it's just, my dad really didn't take care of it. The brakes suck, the pedals suck, and the engine seems like it wants to just die. My mom says she's going to have it fixed up, though - plus I'm getting a new stereo in it. I'll also share the Intrepid with my brother, who will share the better of the two cars, the Oldsmobile Intrigue, with me. I love driving the Intrigue, I got it up to 120 on the Ryan - that was awesome ! I've probably just confused everyone here, so - sorry for causing problems...

Maybe I missed something, but I think the majority opinion on here is that Gload has done an excellent job this year (sans his RF mis-Q's), but they don't want him to be the one replacing a hypothetical trade of Paul Konerko. Or - better put - they don't want to see Gload start next year. And that's my opinion, too...
-
Why is Shingo here then...?
-
No - people respect him - as his ability to be a bench player. Not a starter. Don't mix up people's words, bud...
-
Turns out mine is also a Ford Mustand, not a dodge. It's red, but a little deeper red. I love it!
-
My dad's birthday is coming up, so this morning, my mom told my dad that we were going to buy him a new car to replace his '99 Intrepid. So, I'm at home, waiting and waiting and waiting. My brother calls, and tells me that they bought him a Dodge Mustang! So I'm like - f*** YES!!! I just told this girl that I kind of like that a Mustang was the car I've always wanted. Even though it's my dads, as soon as it gets home, and I get insured on it, I'm taking that baby out for a nice f***in test drive. Can someone post a picture of a Dodge Mustang, preferably an '04, that's what I think they got them? Any color, really. Sorry - I'm too lazy to do it my self...

I assume that if we kept the budget the same, with Maggs, Valentin, and Koch's numbers off the books, that we will have anywhere from five to fifteen million to use in free agency (most likely somewhere in the middle). I am all for trading one of Lee or Konerko, because both have somewhat hefty contracts, yet both will be coming off of excellent years. I'd rather trade Konerko, just because the fact he's slower and I think Lee's ceiling is higher than Konerko's - I could be wrong, but that's JMO. I'd love to get a package of an excellent reliever, and a middle infielder (Jerry Hairston would be an awesome pickup this offseason for the Sox - .378 OBP, .303 AVG), and perhaps a prospect. My overall view of this offseason is this - I want to get it down, so what do you guys think of this? -Cut down on the right handed power hitters (one of Lee or Konerko going). -Gain a LH power hitter (JD Drew, or Delgado depending on price.) -Get one shut down, power throwing righty (If Kenny would be able to get him for not a whole lot, I'd love to see this team make a deal with the devils up north and aquire Farnsy, but maybe I'm alone in that opinion - but don't get me wrong, I don't think Farnsy is an elite bullpen guy - I just think he has the potential to become one.) -A #2 or #3 starter. The obvious names being Radke, Pedro, Pavano, Clement, Perez. -Fill in the rest with speed and OBP guys, preferably good defensively. Ideally I'd love to go into the season with Catallanato in right, Koskie at third, Hairston/Harris at second, and I'll take Uribe at short. Thoughts?
-
But like you said - at least he walks. I can take a guy who will strike out a lot, but who will also walk his fair share of times as well. Besides that - how is Young's swing? Is he more of a gap-to-gap guy, or does he project to be more of a power hitter?
