  1. From all accounts, Borchard is a hard-working guy, so it's not a lack of work that is keeping this guy from fullfilling whatever potential he has. I just don't see how one can have a lust for him like some have on the board for him. But whatever - nice win tonight.
  2. Jeckle, you can't be serious! Damnit, I was hoping Kenny was going to swing a deal that would send Jason Grilli to the Cubs for Zambrano, Prior, and Wood. But I guess that won't happen anymore, due to this latest developement... :rolly
  3. And if the Sox were winning, we'd be the best team that was ever put onto a baseball field. Both ends of the spectrum. Know what I'm sayin'? Probably not, but my point remains the same.
  4. JMHO, but I believe that making our bullpen one of the best in the league (Yes, in the league) is a lot more important than just finding another starter...
  5. While I don't feel that are catching position is much better than average, there aren't many options via the free agent market that I'd like to persue (Varitek being the only one, but I don't feel that he's worth the six-eight million he could get). I feel Davis/Burke can hit .250 or so for this team, and both are well liked by the pitchers; plus, both call a good game and are solid behind the plate. I'll say this - if we're relying on catcher for our offense, we're going to be in a lot of trouble next season...
  6. I'd take either Perez or Clement, but I'd rather stick them in the three spot. I'd take Buehrle and Garcia one and/or two over either of the other two. But Clement would be a solid pickup...
  7. I doubt it, even with the Carlos Guillen trade...
  8. I also didn't really like them talking about our catcher spot, but I don't really have a beef with anything else in the article. They called Ben Davis, compared to Miguel Olivo, 'inadequate and not-as-young'. Isn't Davis only one year older than Olivo? And, Davis is known as calling a better game than Olivo, yet I don't know if stats could back me up on that.
  9. Oh - you mean picking up nobody's like Freddy Garcia, and then trading pieces like Esteban Loaiza (2004 version) for, at the very least, a quality pitcher in Jose Contreras? Is that what you mean?
  10. Let me get this straight - Freddy Garcia is described, by you, as 'shaky', but Eric Milton is a great pitcher? You're kidding, right?
  11. Ditto - i also hope the Twins clinch at the Cell. Ozzie should make the players on this team watch the celebration...
  12. For those who missed the goal, see it here. All of those people who were saying Ruutu was a bust because he wasn't producing the first half of last season - line up and eat your crow! Damn, was that a f***in' sweet goal. Hopefully, the first of many - except in a Blackhawk uniform...
  13. Wow - that's all I can really say about that goal. Me and my brother screamed at the same time when we saw that, an absolutely amazing move...
  14. Holy f***ing s***. What a f***ing move. RUUTU, YES!
  15. A salary cap. Players don't want one, owners want one. I'm not all into the economics of sports, perhaps someone could elaborate more...
  16. Wow, for those watching the game, did you guys just see that shift by Ruutu? Starting off the second period? Damn, does that make me happy to be a Blackhawk fan. He worked his ass off, and almost got a goal because of it.
  17. I'd rather B-Mac being able to pitch every fifth day, so the only way I want him to be on the Sox is if he's pitching as a starter. No need for him to be in a Jon Adkins role next year. I'd like for him to start at B'Ham, gain some confidence, then go to AAA. Then a shot as a 2005 callup, and a definite shot at the 2006 rotation.
  18. BTW guys - it's now 'Tunomo Ruutu' - courtesy of Gary or Bill Thorne. God, he butchers names worse than Jeff Joniak. Someone tell me if I'm watching this game through the 'Ruutu-Shaded Glasses', but on every shift, Ruutu seems to always be around the puck. He hustles to cancel icing calls, hustles to get the dump ins. Great hockey game so far.
  19. Ruutu has been playing solid yet unspectacular. Sort of a Kyle Calder type of work, gritty without much results in this tourney so far (well, Calder usually gets goals, so maybe that isn't a good comparison). I want to see Ruutu take a run at Mario or Sakic. That'd be awesome...
  20. Go Finland! This is going to be an awesome game. I think the Finns are going to play a solid, well-rounded game, and upset the Canadiens. I also think that this will be Ruutu's best game of the tourney. JMHO. Go Finns! Go Ruutu! But - let's just hope we see one hell of a hockey game...
  21. Sorry fellas, but the Sox are going to have to take the back seat for me tonight. Two finales are on tonight - World Series of Poker Finale, and the World Cup Championship, Finland and Canada - the last hockey I'm gonna see in a while.
  22. The Wolves as an organization are much better than the Hawks organization, but you cannot even compare the NHL to the AHL. The level of play isn't even close...
  23. BTW - Man of Steel. I believe our friendly bet was season record, not the first game of the year. Just lettin' ya know...
  24. Definitely one of Hendry's worst trades... I remember when that trade went down, I was thinking about how little Atlanta gave up. I was wondering why the hell we didn't take a chance on Cruz. Yeah - Politte, I'm on edge about. I think we're both in agreement that a hard-throwing righty should be added to at least give a switch up between the eighth inning, hard stuff, and then the ninth inning, slow junk.
