What about: Maggs/Rauch/Lower level prospect for Ortiz, Smoltz, Drew Am I dreaming, or is that a fair deal or not?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Sweeney NOT be traded? Something about not being able to be traded til one year after he was signed?

Blackhawks select Cam Barker with the 3rd pick
CWSGuy406 replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Imagine this three years down the road: Number 1 Defenseman Anton Babchuk. Number 2 Defenseman Brent Seabrook. Number 3 Defenseman Cam Barker. That is solid right there! -
I was at the game, it was great - Jonny was on friggin' cruise control, dominating. Our hitters, while they were missing some pitches, still did a great job of getting a lot of pitches on Mark Prior, and they had 100 pitches on him at the end of the fifth. And then Jon blew up. But, it wasn't the homerun that really bothered me. I was more upset about the previous walk, but not really the homerun. The homerun just sort of culminated all of my anger, and at that point, with all Cubbie blue standing on it's feet, I was pissed. And then the next inning came by, and Jon give up f***ing two more runs. And then I was absolutely cheesed, as Jon walked off the field I booed his ass like never before. I couldn't believe how he just imploded within a matter of 20 minutes or so. Damn Garland - the offense got you four f***ing runs today, yet you piss it away. Sure the defense behind you f***ed up too, but damn man... Grow some f***ing balls...

Astros close to trading for Urbina
CWSGuy406 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Kenny can only play the hand he's dealt, which is a limited payroll that was actually exceeding budget last offseason. Sure, one or two of his contracts that he handed out probably didn't help his own problem, but Kenny has done a good job on a limited budget. If there was a deal out there that could improve this team at this moment, Kenny would do it, and if you think otherwise, you're just stupid... -
Santiago can't be any worse than Jackson is, right? IMO Santiago should at least be given a shot, Jackson cannot pitch in the majors anymore...
-
Brando is absolutely spot on about walking the f***ing 9th place hitter, Ramon f***ing Martinez. ON FOUR DAMN f***ING PITCHES (my apologies for the language). And then Coop came out, probably told Jonny, "Get ahead of the hitters, throw a first pitch strike to Grudz." Unfortunately Grudz was probably thinking the same way...
-
IMO until Adkins proves that he sucks, he needs to be used more. The best righy out of the bullpen (at the current time) besides Shingo. Politte is better than Jackson, at least Cliff sometimes goes out and doesn't give up runs. Jackson was nice at the beginning of the year, he is downright AWFUL now. Ozzie is put in a real pickle, leave his starters out there to get shelled, or go to the bullpen.

I'd be willing to part with Borchard, Rauch, and Diaz for Ortiz and Smoltz...

I think a lot of this is Post-Cubs-Loss syndrom right now. Look, I don't want to harp on it, but the Cubs lost four out of six to us last year as well, and they were able to make it to the playoffs. We've pitched horribly lately. I have faith that they will bounce back, it just has to be sooner rather than later. I really hope Kenny is able to get this deal done with Atlanta, I would really really love for that to happen...

This team just needs to find a way, somehow, to just tread water for a little bit. Just tread water, stay around 500, get through this rough stretch...
-
Why the need to start a new thread? It's already being talked about, like Steve said...
-
Just got home from the game - sorry, I know this has already been asked, but nothing is official yet? I'll take Russ Ortiz, but I hope that isn't the end all - be all of Kenny's deals, I doubt it would be, but I hope it isn't.
-
Yeah - time for Garland to get a little pissed off that this team traded him after picking him in the FIRST ROUND. Garland - just say f*** it, and go kick some ass today!
-
Krush - you sitting Lower Deck or UD? I'll be in the UD (thanks Steff) ), so if you still see this and are sitting in the UD, gimmie a call on the cell (341-8502).

Its a Nice Win, But There are still a few Problems
CWSGuy406 replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
OK - but tell me the last time a fifth starter gave us this good of a start? GMAFB, sure, we all want Freddy Garcia, Tom Glavine, whoever, but Rauch pitched his ass off against a tough team yesterday, and you're b****ing about it... -
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Kenny is going to surprise us all again and get one of: Smoltz, Glavine, or the Big Unit. He always seems to go away from what popular belief is. He will get us a big name by the end of next month, that's my one prediction of the month.

Guys - I know there's a lot of people on this board that are just talking about how we've been playing lately, but the Cubs are coming off a series in which they lose the back-end two games of a three game series in St. Louis, so obviously they aren't playing great either. Big start tommorow, Jon. Big start bud.

The Official Carlos Beltran Traded Thread
CWSGuy406 replied to Mr. Showtime's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah - I wanted to make a new post here, because the *Official Carlos Beltran Thread* was just speculation, and I figured this would be more obvious for people to see. -
The Official Carlos Beltran Traded Thread
CWSGuy406 replied to Mr. Showtime's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Anyone know how good the prospects are that KC is getting? I posted the same thing in the Sports Bar, so if you mods want to merge this one in here, or merge it with the one in the sports bar, that's fine. I hope Beltran finds it enjoyable to beat up on another team from Chicago! -

Per www.mlb.com 'The Astros acquired outfielder Carlos Beltran from the Royals in exchange for closer Octavio Dotel, catcher John Buck and cash considerations. The Royals then shipped Dotel and cash to the A's in exchange for minor league right handed pitcher Mike Wood and minor league third baseman Mark Teahen.' f*** yeah, Astros! Kick some Cubbie ass! -
So - can someone tell me about the pick of Ben Gordon? Will he most likely start, and be the number 2 guard or the number 1 guard, with Hienrich (sp?) already there? Or will he ride the pine a bit? Or will it all depend upon the Crawford contract situation? I'm surprised the Bulls haven't made a trade yet, they're awefully young...

I found this picture a little strange...
CWSGuy406 replied to AngelasDaddy0427's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What? Players hit each other on the 'behind' all of the time, it's just this one is on camera. .....But I guess it's funny... -
I'll hope for two out of three, but it is a MUST that Garland gets us off to a good start tommorow. Take pitches against Prior, get him out of the game early. Get to that Cubby bullpen early in the series, that will be nice. LET'S GO SOX!
