  1. Just wondering: are you trying to make it realistic? No way Sosa would ride the pine. Same goes for Maddux-Clement; they aren't relievers, they're starters. And I'd probably rather have the Trib own us - 90 million + payroll would be real nice on the southside, but I'd rather have Kenny Williams as my GM than Hendry. Let's see Hendry yield a competitive team on a 60 million dollar budget...
  2. My team would look like: Olivo Thomas Uribe Valentin Ramirez Lee Harris Ordonez Staff of: Prior-Buerhle-Wood-Loaiza-Zambrano And a bullpen of: Marte-Hawkins-(I don't watch the Cubs much, but their bullpen is better than ours - so whoever the best Cub relievers are. And Shingo as closer. Oh yeah - the question was raised, since Thomas is a DH, he'd obviously be a DH on this team. Who would you put at first base, Lee or Konerko?
  3. We need to be patient with Sabathia and make him throw a lot of pitches. The earlier we get to the Cleveland bullpen, the better...
  4. This draft is sure an interesting one. We know who the first two picks are, in order. We know the first defenseman to be taken. What we don't know is who will take them, as their seems to be some serious talk between the Caps and our Blackhawks about pick number one. The Hawks might (this is all from newspaper rumor) be willing to part with Steve McCarthy, Tyler Arnason, Kyle Calder, and the #3 pick to the Caps for pick Number 1, where they would take 'franchise-player' Alexander Ovechkin. That's a hell of a lot to give up for just one player (reminscent of the Lindros trade, but the Hawks aren't giving up as much as Philly here), but here's how I see it: Steve McCarthy, IMO, will be replaced in the system by up and coming guys such as Barinka, Babchuk, Keith, etc. He hasn't really been given a shot here in Chicago, but IMO, at best he'll be a number 3 defenseman on a good team. Arny has a ton of potential too, even more than he showed last season. He can score, he can skate, but IMO, will probably be a number 2 center, never that number 1 guy. Calder would probably hurt the most to lose. He is such a good player, and yet a lot of people don't appreciate the work he puts in. He's not a flashy player, but he'll go into the corners and get the puck. He'll stand in the way of hard slap shot, just hoping he can get his stick on it and tip it in. I would hate to see him in another uni, as he is what appitimizes (sp?) what Chicago is. Cam Barker would most likely be the one taken at 3, he'll probably be a solid defensemen down the line as well. So - two pretty solid defensemen, and two second line players (quality players), for one player who has potential to be simply amazing. Would you do it? I'll comment on it a little later in the week - but this week should be pretty interesting to say the least.
  5. I'd like to see Diaz given another shot, on normal rest rather then him resting 10 days before a start, or three days before his second start. He wasn't awful, he just threw too many strikes, which was a problem. He also left his changeup up in the zone, and you can't get away with that in the bigs. Best of luck to Rauch. Five to six innings, four runs or less. Is that too friggin' much to ask?
  6. Kenny already, IMO, DID eat his own crow by trading Billy Koch for a minor leaguer. Kenny isn't a dumbass. He knows what we need, and he'll go out and get it, soon, at that.
  7. Hopefully we can hit up CC a little bit today. It will be hard, but a win would be really big today...
  8. Well - considering you overreact after about every 'lost' game, I was expecting after, dare I say, we lost two in a row...
  9. The sky is falling, the sky is falling... :headshake
  10. Damn. I didn't know the Cubs were in the AL Central. That f***ing sucks...
  11. Thanks MoT. Jeckle - Here's the bandwagon (Bandwagon) and here's you (Jeckle) Off the bandwagon. You can stay there if you want, too...
  12. I didn't see the games on Saturday and Sunday. I guess Munoz got his ass kicked - what happened today? Garland only giving up three hits, but four runs? Was our offense not in sinc, or was the pitched just dominating? Thanks for anyone who wants to sort of summarize, as I'm too lazy to look through the game thread - is appreciated.
  13. All I remember about Everett is that time he robbed that homer at The Cell. That was friggin awesome!
  14. I wish I could see him tommorow, but I'll be at Purdue University for a basketball team camp/tourney. Best of luck to Arnie!
  15. Whenever we post it - the Twins always end up coming back and winning. Maybe we should just stop...
  16. OK Buerhle - there's your game where you can allow a s***load of runs. Don't let it happen vs. the Cubs or against the Indians next week. Nice job offense, way to keep us in this won! Nice job Cotts! Way to get the W, shovel up what Buerhle left behind! Way to go Marte, way to strap it down!
  17. Cotts with a hit. Burke out at home, nice job Neal! !
  18. Hah! Look at Cotts in his batting helmet! He looks like a college kid, lol.
  19. Joe Crede - welcome to the offense! !
  20. Jose is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get.
  21. YES! Valentin triple! Lee scores! YES!
