  1. Guys, just WAIT till Podsednik and Erstad get back. Then we'll show 'em.
  2. Hawks are going to take Kane. Tallon was on TSN Sportcentre and talked about why they'll be taking him. //second hand info
  3. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) Buehrle did get the corner. Looked like he sometimes got the corner. Seemed very inconsistent with it.
  4. I'm really not mad that the Sox are about to lose to the Cubs... The Blackhawks are one hour away from adding another very good prospect to a stacked system. Can't wait...
  5. Loving that strike zone. A little consistency would be nice... if you're going to call that pitch, Buehrle better get that outside corner.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Did you notice that Rocco is hurt again? He's out another two months. Yeah, that's a shame. I like those speedy 20-25 homerun types -- he could be very valuable, too, if he wasn't made of glass.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) Um....that was 100 pct sarcasm. Did you notice how I said underneath that Linebrink is nothing special? Nah, didn't see that. I was just razzin' ya in the first place, hence the smiley. And I didn't even think about the Mets, but I think that Mets OF (Gomez - Beltran - Chavez) has the Cubs beat. But I do agree with you that the Cubs OF is quite fleet of foot.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) You won't find a faster defensive outfield than Soriano, Pie, and Pagan. Please list one that is faster. A healthy Tampa Bay? I'm not doubting you, and I know I responded to that post, but I more had in mind a post you had in the Barrett trade thread about Hendry usually doing well in trades.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) Our lack of speed, and their amazing speed in the outfield, cost us that inning. Gosh damn, sometimes it seems like you really just like to suck off the Cubs and Hendry. I'm not sayin'.... I'm just sayin'...
  10. Rumors flying that the Hawks have traded the first overall to Phoenix. People are assuming we'd get the third overall and Peter Mueller (first round pick, 8th overall of last season) back in return. Nothing official.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) I don't know. My thinking was, if you could get Cherpanov at #6, even if he stays in Russia for a couple of seasons, you can use the money that you would use to sign Kane on a top 6 forward FA on a short - term deal. There's no Russian transfer fee agreement in place at this time, IIRC. It would be ludacris for the Hawks to even think about Cherepanov if there is no transfer agreement between their league and the NHL.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 04:39 AM) Don' like the 2nd round pick. Also, how much does Warrener make? I read two years, $2.5 million (per season). So the Hawks save $1.5 million per year. Yeah, I don't like including the 2nd either, but it is a weak draft. The Calgary fans I'm reading think Warrener is pretty much toast, so if he is, I don't know why it wouldn't it be just a straight up deal...? By the way, I should note that none of this is official yet, especially the stuff in this post. Hell the deal isn't even official yet -- they've agreed on terms and Aucoin will waive his NTC, but I believe Aucoin still has to pass a physical (fingers crossed). But yeah, Warrener isn't 'for sure' yet.
  13. Apparently a Calgary radio station is reporting the Hawks will get Rhett Warrener, a 31 year old oft-injured defenseman. The Hawks are also said to be including a 2nd round pick.
  14. IT'S A DEAL!!!!!!! And since I'm in a good, excited rumor mood, there's rumors going around about the Hawks dealing the first overall. Who would Buffalo be sending? Thomas Vanek.
  15. California Love - Tupac We Are All on Drugs - Weezer Call an Ambulance - Albert Hammond Jr Is This It - The Strokes Changes - Tupac Mama Told Me Not to Come - Three Dog Night Yellow Sun - The Raconteurs Buddy Holly - Weezer Ghost - Neutral Milk Hotel Hard to Explain - The Strokes
  16. Gio battled control issues today -- five walks in just five innings. He gave up a two-run triple and a bunt RBI single in the third but struck out seven.
  17. The only realistic name I've seen (coming the Hawks way) is Eric Godard, who would be absolutely PERFECT. He's an enforcer, a guy that the Hawks really need with Havlat, Samsonov, Toews and most likely Kane skating around next season. I should say, though, that even if Tallon only gets a bag of pucks in return, it's still a great deal. BTW, here's the video of where the rumor is coming from -- it's not a done deal yet, but the Canadian analyst expects it to get done. http://broadband.tsn.ca/tsn/?id=348&vid=8862
  18. Hot rumor flying around that Adrian Aucoin is going to be traded in a salary dump to the Flames for nothing of note. If Tallon gets Aucoin AND Cullimore off the books in the same week -- wow. That'd be so f***ing great. The only link I have is to Calgary's HF Boards. http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=391739
  19. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) I hate to keep bringing this up, but how convinced are you all that Contreras will actually waive his NTC before this season ends? I'm pretty sure it's complete. Count strikes me as a guy particular about his environment, and he's made it clear that Chicago is comfortable to him. The only reason I bring his name up is because I remember a quote from him immediately after he got traded to the Sox along the lines of, "if they [the Yankees] don't want me in their house anymore, then I don't want to be here".
  20. Also, count me in on the 'trade for Milton Bradley' wagon. The last seasons he's got an OPS+ of right around 120. Obviously he has a problem staying healthy -- that's a big concern considering he's had 400+ ABs in a season just once. Still, I think the Sox generally do a decent job keeping guys healthy, and I don't think Beane is going to ask a lot for him. We have to play somebody in the outfield once Dye is traded or Erstad and Podsednik get hurt again. I can only take so much Jerry Owens and Andy Gonzalez playing out of position, Mack isn't an everyday player and I think Sweeney needs another couple months (at the very least) in Charlotte. In any case, by August 1st, two of Podsednik/Erstad/Dye should be out the door. Erstad and Podsednik should be dealt for the first team that waves a live-armed A-ball pitcher at Kenny (if not, the latter should be DFA'd) and Dye should be dealt for a reasonably good package (if that doesn't come, then just let him go to free agency as it's pretty much a guarantee he's going to be a type A free agent).

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) Vince looked completely ridiculous as Pablo Escobar, it looked like a skinny white guy in a whole lot of prostetic makeup with a terrible accent. I was actually very impressed with the makeup job on Vince's face to make him look like PE, but you're right on the rest -- Vince just doesn't have the body type for Escobar. If I remember correctly from the History channel's documentary, Escobar was a pretty short, chubby and pudgy type. That's pretty much the opposite of Vince.
  22. Robert Lang isn't going to get offered a contract from Detroit. If the Hawks decide that guys like Gomez, Drury, Briere and Handzus are costing too much money, I don't think Lang would be a bad option. The key would be getting him on, at most, a two year deal. He's getting up there in age, but he had a 52 point season last year (19 G + 33 A). He's not a first line center anymore, but he'd be our first line center, at least until Toews is ready to take over there. In any case, there are plenty of options on the free agent market. I'm just hoping it's a center to push Toews to the second line and Sharp to the third. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211460&hubname=nhl
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 09:52 AM) I think in the long run there won't be much difference b/w say Kane and Angelo Esposito or the Russian Prospect Cherepanov who may be better than anyone. Any thoughts? No way do I make that deal. JVR, Kane and Turris have separated themselves as the best of the bunch, and at this point, the Hawks need quality, not quantity. Kane is the consensus best offensive player -- let's hope he's donning the Indianhead in a little over 24 hours.
