QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 05:33 AM) Look who is number 1. We got a steal for the Garcia trade. I wonder which of our d-bag beat reporters said this...

hamfists.

All Andy Gonzalez does is get clutch hits.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) what's the meaning of the comment about Richar killing somebody? His pic just scares the s*** out of me. I probably should have clarified.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:41 AM) Speaking of Richar, he's not playing tonight for Charlotte. Any possibility that Iguchi is going to be traded, and he's getting the call up? I just looked at that. I would doubt it, but who knows. As is, I doubt the Sox get much for Iguchi anyways... On a positive note, Sweeney has homered and walked in three PAs tonight.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) throw it to 2nd you stupid f*** Does Podsednik have a brain? Also, is Danny Richar trying to kill somebody?

I'm just mad that the Cubs are getting unexpected offensive performance from very odd places, like Angel Pagan and his 117 OPS+ and AAAA player Mike Fontenot and his 173 OPS+, not to mention a couple of guys on the pitching staff who are pitching much better than what they really are in Marshall and Marquis. To be fair, though, Jacque Jones isn't as bad as he has hit in 200+ ABs for the Cubs so far and while I don't expect Pie to be a star as a rookie, I doubt he's as bad as he has been.

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=323212 Prospect camp details -- Kane, Toews, Skille and Barker will all be there, very neat. Krush, I'll be taking off that Monday to head to Bensonville, and I'll be open for one other day (the 3rd through the 6th), not sure which yet. Can't wait...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:04 PM) You don't get to argue for the guy, cause we all know that you do love him. Hey, I like Vazquez. If he gives us three years of a 4.50 ERA, the contract will be well worth it. I just want Young back. And I'm sure a certain locker wouldn't have minded not being punched. Or my fist.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) You can arrange the stats anyway you want to make it look good. This coming from the person who initially said:
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) really? A .250 hitter with an OBP of .285? And a slugging percentage close to .450. And 25 extra basehits, which would rate in a tie for first on the Sox. Oh, yeah, he's a rookie too.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) Would a Kemp and Betemeit deal be acceptable? It definitely gives you two more talented younger guys and neither are guys I'd consider deal breakers for the Dodgers. I'm not exactly sure about the details of Kemp's past "issues", but didn't he punch somebody on the Barons? I also want to say Razor Shines was coach then, but not I'm not 100% sure about that. After the injuries and the poor start to the season for Dye, I'd take any of the Dodgers' guys straight up for Dye -- Kemp, Loney or Billingsly are the guys I'm thinking about. If it gets close to the deadline and nothing is happening, I'd do Betemit for Dye, straight up.

Offman: "The Score has learned Buehrle is close to an extension..." Sticking to their guns.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) You bet your ass they would. Around the time of the last contract offer (3/$34, was it?), I know you talked about a lot of incentives that could bump the contract up to around 3/$45-50. Could that be the same thing here, ie, a base salary of $12.5 million per season, but incentives that could bring it up to 4/$60?

Phil Rogers Details Kenny's Failures

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:22 AM) Can I take credit for being 100% behind the Garcia trade from the day it was made? I absolutely LOVED that deal. Yeah, that's right, I want some god damn dap. I was lukewarm on it -- the Soxtalk trade thread was crazy, though. Speaking of which, where are the Soxtalk archives? I'd like to go back and look at some threads from this winter, seeing as there were so many people who knew Crede was going to fail immensely and Aardsma was going to have an 18.00 ERA. Anyways, here was my first post at SSS about the trade. Anyways, I'd guess that most people were pissed about the trade because it didn't come close to matching the Pelfrey + Milledge for Garcia proposals. I mean, gosh dammit Kenny, how the hell couldn't Kenny've pulled off 12 years of those two for one year of Freddy Garcia's shoulder? This is the same reason why -- I'm guessing -- when the Sox eventually trade Contreras, Buehrle and/or Dye, most people are going to be pissed that a Martinez/Pelfrey/Humber or Buccholz/Ellsbury/Lowrie package isn't going to be coming our way. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:38 AM) I doubt he ever has two games in a row like this again in the majors or minors. He's really not that bad of a player. He should be a fine bench player for the Sox in the next couple seasons, especially because he has been deemed by Ozzie as a guy who can play every position on the field. His career minor league OBP is around .360, so I imagine he can get on at a .330 clip as a part-time player.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) Logan Johnson with 2 doubles. I'm not a big fan of this guy prospect wise, but he is definitely way too good for Bristol. Maybe with all those college SS at Great Falls they figured he could at least start at Bristol, but it's a waste for him IMO. Just for clarification, are you not a fan of his 'prospects' (ie his potential, his future) or are you not a fan of his for personal reasons (be it the Louisville thing, his hanging over the plate)? It's not at all a shot at you, I'm just interested in your opinion.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:50 AM) Is your sensor bar in a place where it can receive the controller signal? You helped me out -- I didn't even have the sensor bar plugged in. But I imagine it takes some getting used to?
-
I'm having some Wii troubles. First off, I click 'A' to get past the first screen (the health screen), but after that, I don't know what to do. It seems like my controller isn't working. I'm sitting at most five feet away from the console and the controller is clearly on (the first blue light is lit), yet I can't get the cursor to move. I try pressing A and that doesn't do anything, either -- the only buttons that result in an 'action' on the screen is the home button, the plus/minus buttons and the power button. Am I doing something wrong? Did I not set up the system properly?
-
Not a Sox signing, but did I hear that right? Porcello signed with Detroit?

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) Daniel Bard A RHP. 1st round pick in 06 out of North Carolina. Excellent stuff, probably 09 before MLB ready at the earliest. Bard's bad. Don't want him. Here's Sickels' top 20 Red Sox prospects coming into the season: http://www.minorleagueball.com/story/2006/12/11/16155/586 The more I look at the Red Sox' system, the more I think this deal can't get done without Buchholz coming our way. I'd love Ellsbury, Lester and Wily Mo -- two thirds of a future OF and a backend-to-middle-of-the-rotation starter.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) Francisco Hernandez suspended. Drug related?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:18 PM) Go Brewers! Thanks to everyone on the Sox who brought us 2005. Hart ties it up! -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) I'm just thankful the Brewers have been playing good baseball lately. However, the rumors about the Cubs trading for Griffey Jr. AND Gagne are scary. I heard they can't take on anymore salary past this year. Is that true? Also, Texas better get something good from the Cubs -- he's probably going to be the best reliever dealt in the next two months, and there should be no rush to trade him. If the Cubs want him now, Texas better be demanding a ransom (Pie).

I can't wait till this series is over... I can't wait till Sean Marshall starts pitching like the pitcher he really is and gets his s*** packed. It's already started to happen to Marquis. That f***ing team shouldn't be even thinking about the playoffs, yet they're in the f***ing NL.
