  1. Kudos to Couch -- someone in the media finally called the Sox on the stupid decision of having Podsednik back on this team. Tough to win when you only have one legit OFer on the opening day roster...
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 4, 2007 -> 04:45 AM) Real odd start to the first overtime in Ducks/Canucks - Luongo misses 4 minutes with an equipment problem And a real odd series ending goal - Luongo's calling for a penalty with his arm up as a surprise shot beats him on the ice before he really sees it. For all intents and purposes, the winner of tonight's (?) game five between the Sharks and Wings probably takes the series. San Jose has now pissed two games right down their legs, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they folded. Game four was a real kick in the nuts, two goals in the final minute of the second and third periods, and of course the game winner on a puck that should've been out of the zone.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 4, 2007 -> 05:04 AM) Baseball America has an article devoted to Aaron Cunningham on their homepage. Problem is, viewing it requires a subscription. Anyone willing to summarize? I'll be on it in a minute. Hopefully my brother is still awake.
  4. My God... This is amazing. I hope that we Chicago fans can be half as awesome as this GS crowd has been.
  5. I've missed most of the third quarter, just returned from late nite. How has GS pulled away like this?
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 4, 2007 -> 03:31 AM) B-Ham wins 5-0. 7 IP, 3 hits, 2 walks, 6 k's, no runs for Russell, who moves to 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA. 3 run homer by Thomas Collaro in the 8th put that one in ice (5 HR, 10 doubles, 2 triples, and 22 RBI for him now....but also 33 k's and 5 walks, lol). Getz and Lucy with an RBI each. Russell isn't striking guys out at a particularly great rate in the early going -- it's still early, though, so by season's end he might be fine -- but his GB/FB ratio is about as good as Egbert's so far. I don't think JAG can continue to be as dominant as they've been so far, but it's nice that two relatively unknown guys have stepped up. Also good to see Gio bounce back from his mediocre year last season. Also, I don't know what's in the water down in Charlotte, but those guys need to get their heads out of their asses. Fields is hitting .200, Sweeney wasn't doing a heckuva lot better, Haeger's been awful, Broadway's hurt and Floyd has been the opposite of what he told us he'd be (poor GB/FB ratio specifically, and a bad WHIP).

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2007 -> 02:32 AM) Sue me...I finally watched The Godfather Trilogy in it's entirety. And I've had the box set for a few years. I've never seen a lot of "must see" movies in their entirety. I saw one of the Godfather movies but was totally lost because I had never seen the first one. I've never seen a whole Rocky movie (not that I can remember, anyways). So you're not alone.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) We have our winner! It's amazing that once Toby Hall got hurt, we didn't add Perez to the roster. It's as if KW and Ozzie thought being dominated by tough lefty pitchers wouldn't happen again this season with the same exact lineup we had last year vs them. I'm just pissed that last year, the Sox didn't let the best LFer they had on the roster (Gload) actually play. I would've loved to have Gload lead off for the Sox last year for the whole second half when Podsednik was doing his usual crap-ass routine.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) The easiest way to prove that you don't follow baseball is to come up with a trade proposal because the second I hear Broadway, Anderson and a lower tier prospect for Carl Crawford/Rocco Baldelli I know you're completely clueless. For some reason I'm really caught up in the Rocco madness. We have the pitching to make it happen, problem is, the pitchers we'd have to give up (Gio or Danks) are guys Kenny wants to hang onto. Since they'd definitely need a bullpen piece, I'd be willing to give up Jenks. I'd think that he would be very appealing to Tampa, as they'd control him for another three-and-a-half years and could probably buy a year or two of his first FA years, too. I wonder if Jenks-Broadway-McCollough (once it turns June 15th, or whenever the one-year-after-he-was-drafted rule passes) would suffice...
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2007 -> 06:57 PM) This bum pitching against us today has a horrible ERA and is not a good starter. I'll tell ya, this pitcher isn't pitching like his ERA says today. What with those fifty different arm angles, changin' speeds, and I don't even think Yaz could hit this guy. //obligatory
  11. 96 and 95 on Thorton's first two pitches... game.
  12. Morrow has only shown a fastball. The Sox hitters should be sitting all over it. I know he's throwing 94-96, but it's not like he has great movement on it.
  13. Wasn't this Morrow kid drafted just a year or two ago?
  14. QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:55 AM) He threw the same pitch to Richie the next time around. Luckily it just went to the warning track. Ehh, you're splitting hairs. Javy was very effective tonight, it's just too bad this offense sucks.
  15. QUOTE(SoxAce @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:53 AM) So... just got home from a hard, terrible day at work, what have I missed? A whole bunch of suck from the White Sox offense (two solo shots by Terrero and AJ). Javy's made one bad pitch and it got hit out by Sexson. Great outing, Javy. You get the 'L', though.
  16. To steal a great line from ssi71: Cue clown music.
  17. Sox hitters, please swing at more first pitches. It's worked well so far.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) The same Casey Blake with a .222/.319/.383 line? Yes that is an upgrade over the struggling guys on our team, but it's still nothing special. He's also making $3.75 million and he is NOT a bench player. Blake would get plenty of time on the Sox. And that line is pretty meaningless, it's one month into the season. But I mainly brought up Blake's name as a true platoon guy, not literally Blake (if that makes sense). The White Sox want us all to get to bed on time tonight. They're so nice.
  19. I'm coming to realize that resigning Podsednik wasn't the only bad move this winter. This bench was horribly constructed. You can't do a whole lot about Hall getting hurt, but you cannot have Cintron/Ozuna/Mackowiak all on the same team. I would love to have a Casey Blake on this team right now.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 2, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) he of fifteen pitches and disgusting deception "You daggum right 15 pitches. I tell ya, DJ, the way he throws his breaking ball from the different motions, I'd hate to be those hitters. You combine that with the chilly temperatures that only the Sox have to deal with and mercy, you got a great pitcher. Don't tell me how much you win, tell me when you win it, and this guy does just that. MERCY, another bloop hit, daggumit!" This inning is going to be less than a minute-and-a-half long. PATHETIC!
  21. On FSN Northwest, the announcers are calling him "Torrero". And I believe on the homerun thing that flashes across the screen, they spelled it "Torrero". These guys suck. They said Terrero got called up from Charleston, and they called Mackowiak "Mackiak".
  22. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 2, 2007 -> 02:39 AM) AKA... 2:35?? You're right, I'm an idiot. I was going two hours backwards from 12:35.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2007 -> 01:47 AM) Kinda funny that people are begging for a hitter in the lineup that can't even hit AAA pitching. When you're struggling, you can't be benching Erstad, who is your best hitter. I don't give a damn if Sweeney has started off slow at Charlotte. This is bulls***. He needs to be in the lineup every day, he's the top position prospect in this organization. It does NOTHING for him to sit there and watch. And he gets benched for Mackowiak, too. Mackowiak is ass against lefties.
