  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 01:21 AM) It's amazing that I get singled out for this comment, as it's been all over this board for two weeks now. I know Tony absolutely agrees that KW is at fault for bringing back Pods with his injury history. It's having both Pods and Erstad on the roster. They're waaaay too similar to be on the same team. I'd take Erstad just because he can play multiple spots.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 01:17 AM) One swing, out of the game. Most likely to the DL. Cintron is our DH If so, Eduardo Perez should already be on a plane to Chicago.
  3. I just got back home from getting food. What happened to Thome -- pulled in the first? Who's DHing now? Any word on the injury, or is it his rib?
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) It's probably more leaked out news so that he'll fall in the draft. Interesting to note: The Tribune has the Bears taking Marshawn Lynch, then Justin Durant from Hampton in the 2nd. http://forecaster.chicagosports.chicagotri...7-nfldraft-mock A running back in the first round? Am I missing something? Did Cedric Benson die immediately after fumbling the ball in the Super Bowl?
  5. Can Aaron Cunningham make the jump from Winston Salem? Right now? Boone lookin' goooooood...
  6. Well, ain't that nice, I make a nice comment about Erstad's OF defense and he goes and does that. Not that it really matters...
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) The gun at the park said that he did. You've watched enough baseball. Do you think he's hitting 94? I personally don't. I'd say 90-91, which isn't a bad thing. He's finally shown that plus breaking ball tonight, and his changeup is pretty good, too.
  8. Brian had a fastball right there on 2-0 and a hanging slider on the next pitch. Fouled them both back. Not ack - septable.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:53 AM) His curve that he has featured the last two innings is more 12-6 and is NASTY. His change is a plus pitch and he has hit 94 mph on his heater tonight at the park. (the tv gun is about 2-3 mph slow) C'mon Rock, he's not hitting 94. I'm happy that he's low-90s tonight, but he's not hitting 94.
  10. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) He's been ok. Average to above-average. Best in the league? Ha. Yeah, but that's just Ozzie talking. When is Ozzie not going to speak in hyperbole?
  11. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:25 AM) Thanks for proving your incompetence, Oz! I can't really bash him for that. His arm isn't great, but Erstad has played a good CF for the Sox. That's one thing I won't bash him on...
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:09 AM) Danks is throwing everything up, including his offspeed stuff. Won't be long before some of these end up in the seats. We need to keep this close, in case we get Erstad up with men on base. Are you watching the game this inning? He's keeping stuff down, especially his breaking ball. Nice inning there.
  13. Steve Phillips actually saying something smart w/r/t lineup construction. He's saying he'd just as soon move everybody up a spot in the order, and that having a good "#2 hitter" is overrated. I don't think I've ever agreed with him before.
  14. Danks is snapping a better breaking ball this inning, FWIW. I'm more concerned about that pitch than his fast ball, as Baseball America said that he had a great curveball. That was a f***ing strike.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) His WHIP has been pretty awful at last check this year. Yeah -- he gave up four in the first but has thrown up five zeros since then. Five hits plus three walks with six Ks. Still, though, the three homers isn't going to do anything to help his GB/FB ratio that was supposed to be high (or so KW told us based on his US Cellular Field fitting movement on his pitches). WTF ESPN?!?!?! Just went to commercial right in the middle of the f***ing game.
  16. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:45 AM) dare i mention that gavin floyd has a 2.50 ERA in AAA......just making an observation Someone on SSS said he's already given up three homers tonight.
  17. Jesus Christ, Joe, don't show too much range there...
  18. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) You can throw out OPS and it doesn't mean much, Means more than batting average, but go on. Fixed.
  19. I love it how ESPN Classic seemingly only shows old Bulls games whenever it shows classic NBA games. They're showing a game from 1996-1997 postseason against the Bullets where Jordan currently has 49 halfway through the fourth quarter.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Win this next game and let the Heat decide whether they even want to bother showing up for game 4. They're old, banged up, and may just not have the fight in them to try to come back 3-0. I agree. ...and NO MORE DUHON ON WADE, DAMMIT! Now that Sefolosha is burying open jump shots, there's no reason for Duhon to be in the game with the purpose of guarding Wade. Hinrich + Thabo can take him for 48 minutes. It's one thing if Hinrich gets into foul trouble, but if he's okay, no Chris.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) My problem is this is the choice the Sox have to make. Erstad or Anderson. Those being the only two real options just make me sad. Or the bigger problem of having two similarly bad players on the same roster in Erstad and Podsednik. One is tolerable, but two... not so much. Also, can what is it in Erstad's contract that guarantees him $5-6 million next year? Because there is absolutely NO reason Erstad should be anywhere near this team in 2007, unless it's as a bench player. And bench players don't make $5 million dollars.
  22. Erstad's OPS after today = .570. Suck on THAT, Erstad H8erzzzz!1!111111
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) Thats cause at that point he had already buried himself and while I realize his average improved, all you had to do was watch the games to realize his approach and swing were still god awful. I disagree. He was still swinging-and-missing, but he was hitting the ball with more authority.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 04:04 AM) I'm definitely not opposed to Baldelli, but I'm not about to trade Dye for him nor am I about to say that Dye won't be back with the organization. In fact, I think the odds of Dye returning are about 50/50 and I even feel the same way about Buehrle/Iguchi. My Dye to LAAAA for Saunders, Saunders + prospects for Baldelli is clearly a pipe dream. I have one hope this offseason -- that the Sox go full out after A-Rod if he becomes a FA.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 04:01 AM) Platoon or not he was playing 4 games a week for the first half of the season and that is more than enough playing time to get into a rhythm. Not really. When he started hitting well in the second half -- and it was clear his defense was helping the pitchers -- he was still platooned.
