  1. Yes! I am using Netscape! Too long to explain but Internet Explorer was causing us a lot of computer problems! Anyway .... Here goes...... I made SURE that I used Purple!! Since you went out of your way to help me out, I will not use all of Your color green up!
  2. Grumble Grumble Grumble!! Does the "guided mode, normal mode button have anything to do with this?? It's always on normal mode! I don't get it!! I highlighted the words, scrolled down just as you said. Don't know if it helps the puzzlement or not, but firsdt I hightlight, then as I press the scroll, the highlight disappears. And as mentioned before, no asterik appears. What you see on my last post is ll that came out. Sorry to be a pain, but YEAH, YOU'RE Right. It Should Be "THAT SIMPLE!!"
  3. Hiya Doin' Mr. Cheatmeister!! Just wanted to say Thank You for your reply. Sorry I couldn't respond back sooner, but "Wifey" was working on a huge computer project the last 3 days, so I could not respond! I hope this comes out. I highlighted the top line and scrolled down as you said, but "no asterik star"appeared for me to take it out so it would work. If it comes out Ok , then THANK YOU once again for your reply and help. If not I'm rather puzzled. LATER CHIEF!!!!!
  4. Hi! It's me the rookie again. Not sure why, but not succeeding in changing fonts on my posts. What comes up is [size 14} purple and then words, but no font changes or color. I tried putting it before the quote, after it, and even tried highlighting it and clicking on the font/color. Tried in guided mode (Whatever that means) and normal. Also what is the code and list all about? Sorry, just trying to learn to enjoy the board more!
  5. testing fonts testing fonts
  6. Thanks! I guess that's what me being a rookie is all about!! I think I am entitled to at least one of these..............D-UH!!!!!!!
  7. When Frank was seen at the ultimate fighting arena, when the comment was made that it would get him ready for the locker room, I believe that with the Jose, Ozzie, Paul, Kenny wars, that what Frank sees at the fights is what he'll have to study and be prepared for when he comes home to Chicago! I believe that's what CWSOX's quote was getting at!
  8. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!! Loved your comment!
  9. Thanks a lot S.S. Wouldn't expect anything less than courtesy from people on this board. All have 2 things in common. We love our Sox. And no one would dare own a blue cap with a red "C" on it!
  10. Hi Steff! I know you don't know me, and I'm still a rookie on the board. I agree somewhat, that JM shoudn't take all the blame. But when you have quality players, you also need a quality manager that players respect, and I feel that their respects for Manuel was not very high. Maybe it's a poor excuse for why the players underachieved so badly with poor motivation, but in case in point....it's pretty simple. players (or even workers for that fact) will perform on how much confidence and respect they have for their leader. I know it's only 3 examples, but to save time not to mention any more than that. I was at a game where Garland gave up 3 early runs. Then he shut down 17 straight with no one hitting it out of the infield. Then Manuel pulls him with a 90 pitch count. Result, Sox get bombed afterwards and lose. Why take him out? 2) Buehrle hungry to pitch in NY. He's got the hot hand. Manuel is happy settling for 2 instead of going for the throat. Cotts will be a good pitcher, but poor timing putting him in against Ny at that time.Result, a loss that help put the Sox on a small skid instead of sky high sweeping NY 3) Konerko slumping badly. Against The Cubs He comes up with 2 men on....pops up, inning over. Next time up, they intentionally walk Valentine to get to Paully. He hits a squibber. Inning over. 3rd time, walk Valentine again. 2 men on, 6th inning. down 1 run. Manuel let's Paul bat again instead of pinch-hitting Daubach or Alomar. How do professional players have confidence with decision making like that? As I said, it's not all Manuels fault, but in any stage of life, people need to believe in and trust in their leaders. If it's not there, it knocks the wind out of your sails! I really believe that when it came to trusting JM's leadership, that it just wasn't there. I can't say that Ozzies the answer either. Most 1st time managers in any field life who want to show everyone "HOW IT"S DONE THE RIGHT WAY" usually fall on their face , and that's when they start learning!
  11. I know it has already been posted by others, but I too would also like to send a Big Thank You for all who are keeping us posted with Soxfest and other issues as well. Many at work count on me to keep them updated and informed from this board! Not many on this board know who I am, but I hope that will change someday soon. It's really a shame that we have to start the pre-season off with all of the hostility and disappointments, instead of having an outlook of high anticipation of a STRONG pitching staff, and more well-proven veteran players. After all that has happened thus far, what keeps my hope going is that the year before last, The "Yuppie Blue Caps" had a horrible record with a terrible outlook as well, and they nearly went to the Series on the following year! Someone on an earlier dated post really made me think when he/she said " Just find a way to get to the playoffs, and then ""ANY"" team can get HOT!" I'm like all of you! Excessively disappointed thus far, but if I don't cling to the previous quotes above, then what hope do I give myself for enjoying ANY of the 2004 season? I've been a Sox fan 40 plus years. When finances and work schedules allow it, I love going to the ballpark. Yeah........ I hugely desire to be able to have an EXPLOSIVE team. It didn't happen as hoped for since the end of last year! Regardless.......... I'm still going to enjoy going to the park and Root for a team that is a Great part of my history and memories! Once again, thank you to Everyone of you!
  12. We had one of the all-time best Sox pitching rotations with Hoyt Bannister, Dotson, and Burns. So many rave over the talent that the staff had (AND RIGHTLY SO), but how much did Fisk's involvement, experience in knowing batter's weaknesses, knowledge, and pitch-calling were key roles into bringing that staff up to the level that they reached? He believed in them and used his experience to help develope them. In return, they trusted his judgement completely! I don't know about "Best Ever F.A." in baseball, but for all the "behind -the-scenes" things that he did, as well as putting his heart into every game, well, in my book, he's definately in the tops as far as all time Sox F.A.'s. I had (and still do have) a tremendous respect for the guy!
  13. I hope his lingo doesn't make him look like a dingo and that batters don't hit a long bingo off of a guy with a hairstyle like Ringo! Seriously though, I hope this guy can really help us. He seems hungry to "Make it" in American league baseball! We need fresh new faces with a good rep to look forward to seeing this year.
  14. You forgot one thing!!! The fact that she is also a Sox fan, and your cuddled up together because of the cold weather! AAHHHH! But then all of a sudden you both warm up as you look at the score board and see that The Cubs just lost, and sharing in that glorious moment together!!
  15. Us Sox fans are so tired of being put second rate to The North-side Yuppy-ville, that we all have some quotes or one-liners as to why we hate the Cubs. Here are 2 of mine! Give me some of yours, because I'm continuously being bashed and put down by Cub fans and I need some more fun ammunition! 1) "If The Cubs were 161-0 and someone gave me a box seat to the last game, I still wouldn't go!" 2) If The Cubs were in the world series with Iraq, I'd be waving Sadaam Hussein Flags!"
  16. Just went there! Great Sight!! Don't know if this is any help or not,(I'm sure you already know about it.....but just in case, here it is). http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/ When you click on this sight, scroll down the year you want, click it, then scroll down to the bottom and the salaries of all the players from that teams year show up. It doesn't show new current ones, but if you're looking for a whole team stats and facts of each individual player in that year by team, this one has helped me before!!
  17. Yeah! Not to fond of Clayton either, Matter of fact, he swung the bat more like Clayton Moore....."The Lone Ranger!!" As far as Valentine, here's what concerns me! 1) I feel his fielding was better because you usually perform at a higher level if you're with higher level players. Alomar's history of a second basemen speaks for itself . It made Valentine step it up a notch! He was playing with one of the best ever at that position!! 2) I feel Valentine could still be good if he would get "The Mister Hero" garbage out of his head. The year before, his average was up, because he wasn't swinging for the fence to be a hero in the limelight, and want to keep homerun pace with the big boys! Notice how his average dipped dramatically after his homerun count went up. Get Valentine's head out of trying to be "Mr. Limelight Star" start focusing on hitting for average, and think more about the team than his ego, and he can have another real good year!
  18. Don't know if this is probable or not, but I know some people that the only thing that gives them real "Drive and Energy" is to constantly challenge themselves for something new and different. High goal setters! Irod has his ring, mvp etc. Maybe he needs a new incentive and an almost impossible goal to reach to help keep him fresh and hungry. Besides,he'll already be the main center of attention in Detroit as well as the baseball world keeping eyes on him for being there. You don't think that if he has a monster year with Detroit that the added attention and focus that will be upon him will bring him a ton more endorsement contracts? This guy's got it made!!!!!
  19. With a so-so job and healthy mortgage payment, I cannot afford season tickets, but last year I went to 15 games and treated the people that I brought. So, Why would I buy tickets? For one, read my quote under my post picture. Taking someone to a Sox game to me is a great way to say thank you to someone who has gone out of their way for you during some time period. It's a place where you can spend quality time with your father (which I had the pleasure of doing before he passed away 8 years ago) and talking baseball. When your with a friend, there are no kids, no distractions, no cell phones(unless your at Wrigley field "LOL"). And while your spending quality time with someone that you care about, you can root for your Sox regardless who is on the team? Even if the team is bad, sharing one-liners with the fans around you and enjoying their company as well can be great! If your a REAL Sox fan,and have played a lot of basebal, and have the real love of baseball in you, then there won't even be a question of whether you'll buy tickets or not! """"YOU"LL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"""""" and have a great time along with whoever you go with!!!!
  20. OOPS! Sorry! That was Supposed to be "MR. YATZMAN" Give me about 10 of these---------
  21. Hey Mr. Tatzman!!! Just wanted to say thanks for your help and all the responses that you gave back. Picture is finally on there, but a strange thing happened that I can't figure out. I did everything you told me, and tried the 2 different ways that you posted me back on, and nothing happened. When I pasted thr URL, the URL kept showing up as my sig. Didn't matter if I used bmp, or jpeg. "Soxheads" sends me a URL to paste, I do so, and "bingo" the picture pops up! Really confused on this one, but no matter! At least it's finally up there. When time permits, I'll try and learn to use the fonts better so my words come up in the right places with out the {size 7} {color} fonts showing up along with the sig. As of now, my words popped up in places that were not planned. Until then, Thank You once again for Everything!!! "You-Da-Man!!!!
  22. Thanks A ton Mr Soxheads! Kept doing eveything before with no luck! Not sure how to use the fonts properly, or to get the words where I want them to go, but that will have to be another time! Really late, have to get up REAL """"EEAARRLLYY"""" Can't figure out why I copied the URL onto the sig, and only The Url came out as my sig, but when I copied the URL that you gave me, the picture came out!! What the heck hapened?? Anyway, If I knew how to use the fonts, a "BOLD" Thank You Would be on it!!! Nighty Night!!!!
  23. Allright now! Work!! Please!!!!!
