Not exactly!!! We'll get what comes out about an hour after you finish them!!

You're right about one thing, I am also one who would pick Ricky. Brock was great, and also stole a ton of bases. Ricky did also. but had more HR power on top of that. Boggs was a hitting machine, but lacked base stealing abilities. Carew......without a doubt, the best slap in the hole place hitter I have ever seen. It was literally impossible for fielders to know how to play this guy. But again, not the HR power of Rickey, nor his agressivenes and speed that he had. Everyone on the list had some special qualities, but Rickey is probably the only one that had all of them maxed out all at once for many years. HR power, speed, agressiveness. the guy was just flat out dangerous!

Good point quickman! Not only would it relieve some of the burden on the rest of the rotation, but I feel that the whole team in general, would have more enthusiasm and renewed adrenalin flow by seeing management going for the gusto of filling in a well needed spot in the rotation that has been a sore spot for so long, but also of not having to deal with the problem on gameday of "Oh No, It's 5th starter day again"

My heart grimmises at the thought of Maggs becoming a Scrubbie! It's hard to even think about this, but in all reality, it is a possibility. Cub fans are sick of Sosa. Alou is up in age and injury prone, and Tribune has definately got money. Fan favorite or not, I cannot root for him if he's in a Cub uniform. To me, that is the ultimate barf-filled coffin betrayal. Rather sick of hearing him talk of how he is devoted to the Sox for giving him his start, and how he wants to remain a White Sox, and work out a deal, and then goes turn-coat when we offer him the money that he originally wanted. I like the guy immensely, but if he is aquiring a say- one- thing, do- another -attitude, then dump him. If he doesn't want to play for us fans who truly enjoy him, then why should our attitude towards him be any different than his is towards us?
-
Yeah. Sure Do. But only after he sees Konerko outrun Carl Crawford from home plate to center field! AND.....if he can find a way to get him "Cheap!!!!"
-
Sure we have! The only problem is that the 1--2--3 scenario were all walks!
-
I guess we'll just have to wait and see! Seems like a small test for Ozzie if he can get the fire back into the team. What gives me hope is that we are in this situation without JM as manager. If JM was still with us when our bats are flat and pitching not up to par, then they might as well just open up the coffin and jump in. Ozzie says he wants to bring fire and make sure the team has fun................. lets hope his philosophy works! I'll be there, and I'm on vacation from work, so I'm looking and hoping for a great game!!!! AND A WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree! It was almost impossible to watch a game where that guy pitched and he didn't give up a homerun or 2 or 3. He seemed famous for hanging one over the center of the plate at any given time!
-
My same thoughts! Last year we rocked Twins a couple of games, but overall, we have not done well the last few years in domes.

When do you think the fans start coming back??
Rooftop Shots replied to soxfan420's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree, but I feel that the big aspect of big crowds coming back will happen After June. The Cubs/ Sox series always bring high anticipation, but the key is, if we beat their brains in, (in both series), and we are in first place at the same time in our division, the adrenalin will start to really flow for fans to come out. I also say that time period because if we are also in first place, trade deadlines aren't too far away, and hopefully that would mean that Uncle Jerry may loosen up the wallet a little more! If fans have confidence in the pen, especially the closer role, that would help. Kind of depressing to have your team beat the daylights out of the ball all day, only to have high anxiety fits of wondering what's going to happen when the time of closing up the game comes along. We've had trouble "CONFIDENTLY" finishing games off for 2 years now! -
Maybe because DANNY WRIGHT only brings RELIEF when he is finally the heck out of our organization!
-
No doubt!! That's probably the most depressing quote I've read on Sox Talk in a while!! Who knows!! Maybe that quote means he'll go to AA instead!!!!
-
I don't care if it's Oprah Winfrey, as long as Wright stays the heck out of here!!! Toatally FED UP with toying around and wasting more and more ball games because of that guy! Q.What rhymes with Wright in Triple AAA? A. STAY! and YYAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!

**The Official let's see what Feliz Diaz can do**
Rooftop Shots replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
2 points about that. 1) Look who he was facing at the time. Not only the TB D-Rays, but a struggling offensive club at that. Don't know if you saw the game or not, but did you see how many ball-four pitches that weren't even close to the zone that were swung at? Any quality team with a good eye and patience at the plate would have made look Wright look sick. In all reality, his overall pitching effort that day should have given him his annual "27 walks" in a 4 inning stint. Before the season really starts getting heated up, let's try and establish a 5th starter with it being ANYBODY ELSE that Wrighty boy!!!! I've had about enough of him also. "IT"S TIME TO MOVE ON!!!!!!!" -
Pleased:Loaiza, Adkins, Politte,,Konerko, C.Lee,, Maggs. Disappointed: Totally fed up with countless and unnecessary walks. If the opponent hits, so be it! But handing them opportunities (especially late in the game)is unexcuseable! Looking for Frank to start cracking the daylights out of the ball. Still waiting! Also. still looking for Crede's bat to be consistent and a threat at the plate. Right now....too erratic. Semi-Pleased: Garland, Olivo, Schoney,Ozzie

Sorry, haven't been around lately, so if there were some updates, I missed them. Anything new (that's just not here-say or rumor) about what's going on in the Maggs negotiations?? Haven't heard or seen anything as of late. Thanks!!!

Sorry, I know this is a couple of days old, but I've been busy, and couldn't get to the board. I'm responding to this because for those of you who take the Ryan, or I 55 to the Ryan, a friend of mine told me the greatest spot to park, and I've been going there the last 5 years every game I go to. If you are on the Ryan, getting off at 31st street to Wentworth Ave, keep going south on Wentworth till you go about 1 1/2 blocks South of the cell. You'll see some iron gates on your right. A little old black man will be sitting in a chair directing you into Progressive Baptist Church parking lot. Here are the main keys why this is the best! 1) you are parked about 50 feet from behind the right field wall. "VERY CLOSE" walking distance if it rains. 2) When you leave the lot (on to Wentworth Ave), , they direct you AWAY from the cell. You have to go south ONLY. AWAY FROM ALL THE CONGESTED SLOP!!!! 3) When you go south for 1 BLOCK, you make a left hand turn over the bridge, and then another left, and you are on thr Ryan. No congestion....even on crowded days. As you go on the Ryan...I55 is 1 mile away and your home free! Have to get there REAL EARLY Usually at least 1 1/2 hours before game time on a day when attendance is expected to be good.!The lot holds only about 200 cars, which is why getting there early is important This is definately a lot better than trying to cram your way out of all the other lots! Only glitch.... cannot park there on Sunday games. CHURCH-TIME!!!! Hope this helps! It's been GREAT for me!!!

Hey Flash, shouldn't really call it "brainwashing!" To me, to hate The Cubs, and to be brought up to be a die-hard true Sox fan...............let's just say that your brain was given a "Cleansing!!!!"

With Jose being out, I hope Uribe continues. For all the guff that KW took for this being the only offseason acquisition, he's definately got to be smiling that after getting snake-bit so many times in the past, that as of now, Uribe is paying off big dividends to the club. Not only that, I don't see Valentine being with us next year, and this is kind of giving KW a better look at what this guy may do for us in the future.

Will all of the old postings still remain? I'm sure there are some out there who will want to refer to some of the information that is on there to refresh their memory on how to do certain things that they may have forgotten.

My dad, and my older brothers were all Sox fans, and when I was a kid, many family outings were spent in Old Comiskey. My dad and I weren't real close, but at The Sox games, we were real father and son. Also, 1959, the last year they won the pennant is when I was born. Also, my sig below tells a little more!

As far as replacing Frank, as of now, I don't even consider that an option. Frank in the lineup is still very intimidating along with our other 3 ball crunchers. His experience is also invaluable as well. I agree that Gload's depth is valuable to us (a ton more than Daubach), but by far, he has not earned a spot to replace Frank. I've liked Gload ever since I saw the likes of him in ST. The balls he "Consistently" hit were not cheap shots. Add, a lefty bat along with it, and this guy is a keeper. Anybody know any background on this guy? Age? Was he with another club before? Does he have any other major league experience in the past?
