I, for one have been a huge Frank Thomas fan since he first came up. As of now though, my concern is that everyone is saying that we need another bat to spark the offense (in which we do), but so far, our middle of the line up is batting somewhere around a total of 220. Frank is batting that as of now, and it's against minoe league pitching as well. I hope we see Frank tear the ball apart, but so far there is a lot of hype of him coming to help the team, when in reality he hasn't shown yet that he can even hit guys that have half as good as stuff as major leaguers. I think he will be a great emotional boost to the team, but whether that helps spark the rest of the line-up, only time will tell. Also, what will everyones reaction be if 2 weeks go by and the heart of our lineup is still at 220? I agree with one other poster, who said that if Frank doesn't live up to the hype that is on him, I believe that fans/media will rip him apart. JUST HIT THE HECK OUT OF THE BALL FRANK, SO MY REPLY TURNS INTO NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF HERE-SAY!!!!!!

At work, we are starting to wear Mandatory Hardhats. The color is also a mandatory color of.....you guessed it.....Cubbie Blue. Naturally thr Scrub fans are having a field day with me. The way I counter-acted it is that I made a Cubs Logo sticker with a red circle and red slash through it, showing that I am anti-cub! My request..... My search has failed to be able to find a picture of the "Sox Pride" logo. I need a pic with just the black logo on a white background. Will copy it and size it and make a sticker out of it to put along-side on each side of the anti Cub sticker. Thanks for all who reply. You're all my bros. in this Sox/Cubs war, and I appreciate all the help. We Must Stick Together!!!!!

Anyone know if Bremnly is coming back tomorrow. I hope not. It was refreshing to watch a game and not hear a lot of Pro-Cubs stuff all day. It was good to hear all of Dan Pleasac's comments about our team instead of years past of "Cubs This....Cubs that, which was crammed down us for 3 hours straight!!!

1) Was just curious if anyone knows what the purpose was of The Sox having the circular dirt cutouts put on each side of home plate ral close to the batters box. They're too close to be an on deck circle. At first I thought it was an on deck circle when the cage is out for batting practice, but they cover them up with tarp when BP takes place. 2) Anyone know why so many other clubs let fans in early enough in the park to watch their home team take batting practice, but why we never/seldom get to watch our home team?

[ Back on topic; am I right in thinking that the Cubs are the team that get up our noses most? Well, let's just say that my saying that I have is, "If The Cubs were in the world series with Iraq, I'd be waving Sadaam Huseein flags!" Does that help answer your question? As far as Big Frank goes, in his prime he was the most feared hitter in baseball. A few reasons why he was such a tough out. He had a tremendous eye for the strike zone at the plate so he knew what pitches not to swing at. He walked alot because of his good eye. If the ball came anywhere near the plate, he would murder it. (If you've never seen a guy that's 6 foot 7 weighs about 260, and hit a line drive with everything he's got, you're in for a real treat.) If he got fooled on a great pitch, he would reach out and his strength would muscle it for a squibber into the short part of the outfield. I agree with a fellow poster that when Frank came to bat, you stopped whatever you were doing to watch him.

Hard to believe that Lamar Hoyt's name was only mentioned once. My gosh, if there was a pitcher that the Sox had that was unhittable, he was it. I believe that it was Earl Weaver from Baltimore that quoted the press as saying in "83 playoffs, "If we didn't win this game, it would have been all over if we had to face Hoyt for the final playoff game." When Hoyt got traded, I remember seeing an interview with Fisk in the locker room. When he was asked on how he felt about The Sox trading Hoyt, he turned around and looked at the reporter with an evil eye and said on camera..."I Think It's Stupid!!" He turned back around and didn't say another word. I'm sure that didn't make uncle Jerry all too happy!

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 14, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I'm happy for all the Sox that have had a long past with the Sox. They're doing great. This would be my 13th year of liking the Sox and they've made the playoffs in 2 of those years. Hopefully they can make it 3 for me and however many for all of you. Thanks, I too was born in 1959( thanks mom and dad for giving birth to me in the Sox world series year). Been watching The Sox faithfully since I can remember. This year is a great ride, and just enjoying every game one game at a time!

You're a die hard Sox fan when sadness enters in you when they lose, but then a little glimmer of a smile comes on your face when you look at ESPN's "Bottom Line" and just found out that The Cubs lost. It's a nice consolation prize knowing that the whole day was not a waste after all.

Heard on ESPN this morning that Scammy will miss the Sox here at home. Some sort of staff in fection. I didn't catch it all, but sounded like it was on his foot, and will be on 15 day DL. Someone quote me on the infection and time off if you heard anything. There was some noise in the room where the TV was, so I'm not certain on the time off period and location of staff infection, but I did hear clearly of him not playing in Chicago.

After tough losses like tonights
Rooftop Shots replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
One thing that I noticed this year in most of our losses, is the other team getting pumped up at us givingthem a chance. What I mean is, there are many times where we could have gone for the throat with men in scoring position with 1 or no outs, and we come up with only 1 or 2. We have had many chances to "put away" teams early, and when you don't jump on those opportunities, it pumps up the opposition knowning that they are still in it by only a run or 2. Put the opposition away early, and get the starting pitcher out of there before he settles down and gets into a rhythm. That's where we we have been lacking so far this year. -

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) I did happen to hear that stat, and i do give the d-rays credit, but this sox team is susposed to be finding ways to produce runs( which they did tonight) and hold leads, which didn;t go so well for Jose and the Bullpen tonight. Tonights loss was just a tough loss. I hear ya bro! Just gotta come back tomorrow and play all around good baseball in order to get confidence at the level it's supposed to be so we're in the right frame of mind and aggressiveness to play/beat Baltimore! -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) I think so too. No way does this team get swept by a team like the Rays. Not only that, but usually when major mistakes are made,( in this case, the pitchers not throwing strikes), it burns that much harder in you, especially when it costs your team a loss that should not have happened. The pitching will stand up tomorrow. Just have to hope that the hitting will be enough, and timely. -

I'll guarantee that you'll see our pitching staff throwing strikes tomorrow. Also El Duque is going against someone who I think has a 6. ERA. I think you'll see us with a victory tomorrow. -

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) They had the game and blew it. If they were getting blown out by Tampa then I could deal with it. But they had the lead, blew it, and then out Shingo in. Thats what sucked about tonight's loss. And i know its early and there is ike 125 more games but this still sucked. I realize that losing to TB is frustrating, especially the way that we lost. But don't forget, there is a portion of Tampa that doesn't make them a pushover. If you saw a stat during todays game, they are leading the league in hits. That says a lot considering the powerhouse talent of many other teams. Unfortunately though, regardless of how Arow, Pk, & Dye did, we had enough other offense to beat them. We just handed them the game with the friggin' walks. I don't mind getting beat by being outplayed , but, that didn't happen today. Today, WE just plain lost! -
Regardless how many he wins, a huge plus that is on his side is that he is able to eat up a lot of innings per start, per year. His smooth mechanics also make him look like he has a better chance of being durable and remaining healthy for long periods of time, compared to someone who is a fireballer with pitching motions that are hard on the body and arm.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 1, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Okay, you're an ambulance.... Sorry, couldn't resist. Oh Boy!!!! Ok ....... I guess I'll have to go buy some sirens and have them inplanted in my head!!

QUOTE(Wedge @ May 1, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) That's cool and all... but I don't really care. If I want to know how the team did, I look up the AP story and box score or watch the game. If I want intelligent commentary, I come here and dig around Does BBTN really serve any purpose? Totolly agree with your opinion. My issue was is that I like watching baseball highlights, and when we win, they seem to show the opponents good points, and point out our errors, and throw us at the end of the show somewhere. Regardless of what BBTN says, I'm enjoying the daylights out of our Sox. One thing we don't need is a nationally televised show with some Mariotti DNA's within them,..........so it's good to finally see some positive feedback for once.

Hard to believe! BBTN says Sox are for real! Praises our team!!! Puts us on at beginning of the show! Call an ambulance! I think I'm having a coronary!!!
